Get this... Mayor of Kelowwna Walter Gray travelled to Tampa, Florida earlier this week to head the delegation that presented Kelowna's bid for Ironman Canada.

So the thing is that Kelowna is spending taxpayers money to attract the Ironman. 60 km away will be the Challange triathlon - If there are a couple of thousand athletes available does anyone think they will participate in both? At best it could be a 50/50 split so no one will benefit.

This is what's happening to all forms of tourism, cut throat competition where the reality is finding the next big thing..
