Witsand is a small coastal town at the mouth of the Breede River in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is a good fishing area and is widely considered to be the whale nursery of the South African coastline. Witsand has had some of the largest bull sharks caught in the river, although no shark attacks on people to date. It is also popular for kitesurfing and windsurfing due to the summer South-Easter.. Every year Witsand serves as the finish for the Heidelberg to Witsand marathon and half-marathon road running race.

De Hoop Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It lies three hours from Cape Town in the Overberg region, near Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa. Approximately 340 square kilometres in area, it is one of the largest natural areas managed by CapeNature. De Hoop is one of the components of the Cape Floral Region Protected Areas World Heritage Site. The De Hoop Marine Protected Area extends three nautical miles out to sea from the coastline of the nature reserve.

Arniston is a small seaside settlement on the coast of the Overberg region of South Africa, close to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. Prior to the wreck of Arniston, it was known as Waenhuiskrans, an Afrikaans name meaning literally Wagon house cliff, after a local sea cave large enough to accommodate a wagon and a span of oxen.

DJI Mavic Pro: Witsand Nature Reserve, South Africa

Witsand Nature Reserve, a beautiful spot in the Northern Cape. With a size of only 18 square kilometers, it is the place of anomalies in South Africa - foremost the white sand against the usual red sand backdrop, said to originate from oxides leaching into the water table. On top of that, these white dunes are struck by lightning during summer thunderstorms and glass-like minerals known as fulgorites are formed in the sand. This video was shot from various altitudes with the DJI Mavic Pro, during the winter of 2017

South Africa - A world in one country

A short movie I've made during my film trip (Holiday) in South-Africa. We drove 3600 kilometers in a rental car to see all the beautiful and spectacular landscapes in this awesome country.
We stopped a lot near the road to fire up the drone. The shots in CapeTown are made from out a Helicopter.

Kleinzee - An Awesome Holiday Destination!

Kleinzee or Kleinsee is a beautiful holiday destination.

This beautiful Diamond Coast town is on the west coast of the Northern Cape. It is 72km from Port Nolloth and 105km from Springbok.

Founded in 1927 and known for its diamond-mining operations, owned by De Beers. The name is Afrikaans for small sea.

It lies at the mouth of the Buffels River. This river runs through the town but only has water approximately every ten years. The rest of the time it is a dry river bed. The town can only be reached by dirt road.

Kleinzee has numerous tourist attractions like fishing. The Black Bream is a medium sized fish of the Sparidae family. There are also abundant kelp beds along the shores.

There are several shops to buy the necessities. The weather is normally warm and sunny, unless the Atlantic Ocean mist creates a drop in temperature.

The Kleinzee Nature Reserve has over 100 indigenous plant species. For more information about this mysterious small town visitors can visit the Kleinzee Museum to find out about diamond mining and the natural environment. Kleinzee is also home to a huge seal colony of about 450 000. Also don't miss the nearby shipwreck.

CAPE SECRETS

Cape Town’s CBD or the City Bowl, is the heart of the town. It’s a mix of business’ and bars or coffee shops. There are too many to put in one video, but these are a couple of my favourite places.

Mojo Market, located in Sea Point is a 7 day a week food and lifestyle market. It’s an awesome place to hang out with 25 very different vendors, a couple of fantastic bars and a live band. It’s the perfect place to pop in, at literally anytime of the day.

Next up is Botanical Bar, you might not have heard of this place, it’s a relative of the secret gin bar, but with a twist. All their drinks take inspiration from South African botanicals, run by the very talented Peter Lebese.

The thing I love most about Cape Town, is how close it is to nature, the city is literally surrounded by mountains, you can walk from almost any bar and watch the sun disappear into the ocean.
