Harvest Host Camping at Grovedale Winery in Wyalusing Pennsylvania

On this Airstream Life vLog, we leave the state park and head to our last Harvest Host stay for a while, this time full hookups at Grovedale Winery. Steve accidentally deleted the footage of us arriving and setting up but that's okay! At least he didn't delete the wine tasting!
We are staying at a full hookup spot next to the winery for $25. We originally planned to boondock in the parking lot but since it was getting to below freezing that night we decided full hookups were definitely worth it. Once we set up the Airstream we walked across the lawn to the tasting room.
The wines here were delicious and the company amazing (both human and animal). We made friends with the winery cats and dogs while tasting and enjoying some wine slushies (even though it was cold outside). Then it was time to walk back to the Airstream and get some dinner started.
Internet was okay here, good enough to stream during dinner and we spent a very quiet, restful and WARM night. If you are ever near Wyalusing PA you should definitely stop in!
Stay tuned for our next video when we arrive in Ithaca at a state park which will be our home base for the next 10 days. So excited!

Tuesday Talk: Where to Find the Best Camping
This week we are answering a question from a viewer about how we find our often amazing camping spots.
As you all know Courtney is a planner. So the answer is ... Courtney!
Haha! We'll tell you more than that. Courtney uses a few resources to find almost all our camping spots. The first and most used is Campendium. In fact in the description of every single travel video, you will find a Campendium link to where we are staying (in case you are ever curious).
We love Campendium because it is a great site where other RVers leave in-depth reviews. This way we know how the cell signal is in the park which is our number one priority. If it's a boondocking spot we are checking out we get a good understanding of whether we can fit with the Airstream and how safe the area is. It is our go-to for trustworthy camping reviews.
For all our overnights we use Harvest Hosts if we can. While this means we can't book these ahead of time (most places only want at most a weeks notice) we have backup plans in case they don't work out. What better way to split up a driving day than with a winery?
Sometimes out West, we will also use freecampsites.net to find free camping but since the reviews there often aren't as in-depth we have to be more careful with them. We also use Recreation.gov to book all our state parks (and we prefer state parks over traditional campgrounds) but usually still start at Campendium to get reviews and then click over to recreation.gov to make the reservations.
So that's how we find camping. What about you? What's your favorite resource?

Tuesday Talk: Commemorating Travel & Buying Souvenirs When Full-Time RVing
This week we are answering a question from a viewer about souvenirs. They wanted to know if we did anything to commemorate each state we camp in or the places we travel. This is an interesting question to ask fellow full-time RVers since we don't have a lot of space for things.
So what do we do? We mostly buy consumable. Food, wine, beer, candles anything that sparks our fancy and will remind of us where we purchased it. Yes, this means our souvenirs don't last forever but we enjoy them while we do. For instance, we just had a cheese plate for dinner with items on it from all over the US picked up on our travels over the last 2 years. As we ate our dinner we also reminisced about where we got the honey, the jam, etc.
We will sometimes buy other things as well. We have a wall with some stickers and patches from places we've been. We certainly don't need to get one from everywhere we go (and don't have room to do so) but if something makes us happy we'll add it to the wall. We've also bought a few other random t-shirts or things along the way for the same reasons.
We don't do a map where we put a sticker or color in each state but we think they are cool! In fact, one of our subscribers has a print RVing journal on Amazon where you can store information about where you camp and color in each state as you go. Find it in our store:
So what about you? Do you collect things when traveling or mark a map to commemorate each state? We'd love to know!

A Mini Wine Tour & Enjoying Camping in the Finger Lakes
On this Airstream Life vLog, we go on our own little mini wine tour on the West Side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes. We first get some delicious lunch at Brews & Brats which serves all local food and drinks before wine tasting at both Sheldrake Point and Hosmer Winery. We finish our mini tour off with some ice cream for Steve at Cayuga Lake Creamery... he says don't judge!
On our way home we stop at the other entrance to Robert Treman State Park (where we are camping) to see the waterfalls there. The Gorge Trail is still closed so we don't get to see Lucifer Falls but the Upper Falls are still pretty.
Back at the campground we show you around a bit more, talk about water conservation and what we will be getting up to in the next video. We are going on a private waterfall tour with Experience the Fingerlakes Touring Company tomorrow and we are SO EXCITED! Stay tuned for that!

Two Waterfalls & Cider to Start NY Off Right
On this Airstream Life vLog, we leave our awesome Harvest Host in Pennsylvania and cross the border into NY. We are staying for 10 days at Robert H Treman State Park outside of Ithaca. The park only has a few camping sites with 30amp and they are not the biggest so it made it interesting getting setup. Unfortunately, Courtney set up the camera but didn't press record so you missed Steve's amazing backing in job...but you get the idea. After our first night, it was time to start exploring the area.
One of the main reasons we chose to come to the Fingerlakes for multiple weeks on this trip is the number of waterfalls in the area. There are so many! We'll be doing a guided waterfall tour coming up but for today we went to two pretty accessible ones on our own. The first stop was Buttermilk Falls where we got to climb the steps up to the top. This cascading waterfall was gorgeous and full of white water, hence the name Buttermilk Falls.
The next stop on our mini tour was Taughannock Falls. This waterfall is a 215 straight drop making it taller than Niagara Falls by 30 stories! We first stopped at the overlook before realizing we were running out of time. So we took a quick break from the waterfalls to have an amazing cider tasting and cheese plate at the Finger Lakes Cider House. Delicious and the whole place reminded us of a local farm!
Finally, we made it back to Taughannock Falls and did the 2 miles round trip easy hike along the creek to the base of the falls. Wow! Totally worth it!
We have a lot more waterfalls, wine, beer, and delicious food to come...so stay tuned!

Harvest Host Camping at Radical Wine Company
15% Off Harvest Hosts:
On this Airstream Life vLog, we leave the Saucony Brewery after a pretty quiet night and head to one more Harvest Host. That is 3 Harvest Host nights in a row! This time we are staying at Radical Wine Company in Lehighton PA.
Radical Wine Company considers itself an urban winery. They don't grow their own grapes, instead, they buy from the best producers in different areas of the country to blend up some amazing wines. But that's not what makes them so cool.
Almost every single bottle they sell donates back to local animal shelters. Many have pictures of their own dogs on the labels & Radical Wine Company's logo has a dog paw print in it! Here we got to mix two of our favorite things. Wine & Dogs!
After a delicious tasting where we got to meet some awesome other RV campers randomly (hi guys!) we headed back to the Airstream for the night. While the winery is along a semi-major road it was pretty quiet once the sun went down.
The next morning we hung out for a while and did some work, even though the internet here was not the best before packing up and heading to a state park for more adventuring! So stay tuned.
