Yubu is a tiny tropical paradise off the coast of Iriomote Island. Part of the Yaeyama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, Yubu is almost completely covered by a subtropical botanical garden.
All transportation to Yubu is via neighbouring Iriomote. The most common means of access is via a cart pulled by a water buffalo.
The gap between Yubu and Iriomote is less than 500 meters, taking around 10 minutes to cross by water buffalo cart.
In this video, the crossing is shot in real-time, without any edits or music, so it is just like you are there.
Just walk up, sit down and relax as the water buffalo carries you over to Japan's smallest paradise island - Yubu.

Japan Travel: Parting the Strait with Yubujima Suigyu Cart Ride in the Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa05
Japan Travel: Parting the Strait with Yubujima Suigyu Cart Ride in the Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa05
Japan’s southernmost vacation paradise of Okinawa offers its visitors an array of different activities to make the most of the “Okinawa experience”. One of the more touristy but fun experiences visitors can partake in is the Yubujima Suigyu Cart Ride.
Yubujima is a small island near Iriomote Island. A popular way to enter Yubujima is via water buffalo carts. The cart rides are quite fun with the drivers explaining the island’s history and sharing interesting local gossip. Some drivers will play the sanshin (Okinawa’s stringed instrument) to entertain the occupants of their carts.

Yubujima is a small subtropical garden island. Within the garden, visitors can view many tropical flowers such as 30 varieties of the hibiscus in addition to fruit trees such as guava and papaya. Of course these plants and more can be viewed throughout the year!
Yubujima has a butterfly garden, shell house and more. The beach on the east side displays spectacular views of the neighboring islands. And the restaurant on the island, serves authentic Okinawa cuisine with local tropical juice. The souvenir shop has both local products as well as Ryukyu Island products.
