It is connected to Funen by the Great Belt Fixed Link, to Lolland, Falster by the Storstrøm Bridge and the Farø Bridges. Zealand is also linked to Amager by several bridges. Zealand is linked indirectly, through intervening islands by a series of bridges and tunnels, to southern Sweden.   • 1. Knuthenborg Safaripark Maribo
    Knuthenborg Safaripark is a safari park on the island of Lolland in the southeast of Denmark. It is located 7 km to the north of Maribo, near Bandholm. It is one of Lolland's major tourist attractions with over 250,000 visitors annually, and is the largest safari park in northern Europe. It is also the largest natural playground for both children and adults in Denmark. Among others, it houses an arboretum, aviaries, a drive-through safari park, a monkey forest and a tiger enclosure. Knuthenborg covers a total of 660 hectares , including the 400-hectare Safaripark. The park is viewable on Google Street View.

    National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet is a public aquarium in Denmark. The original aquarium was located in Charlottenlund, but this facility closed in 2012 and most of the animal collection was relocated to the new and much larger aquarium Den Blå Planet in Kastrup, a suburb of Copenhagen. The National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet opened to the public in March 2013 and is the largest aquarium in Northern Europe. The main purpose of the aquarium is to disseminate marine information, help science projects, and help improve educational institutions.

    Copenhagen Zoo is a zoological garden in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1859, it is one of the oldest zoos in Europe and is a member of EAZA. It comprises 11 hectares and is located in the municipality of Frederiksberg, sandwiched between the parks of Frederiksberg Gardens and Søndermarken. With 1,161,388 visitors in 2008 it is the most visited zoo and 4th most visited attraction in Denmark. The zoo is noted for its new Elephant House designed by the world-famous British architect Sir Norman Foster. The zoo maintains and promotes a number of European breeding programmes.

  • 9. Krokodille Zoo Eskilstrup
    The Crocodile Zoo is a zoo on the Danish island of Falster. It is located just to the southwest of Gundslevmagle, northeast of Eskilstrup, towards the northern centre of the island. Established in 2000, the zoo has the world's largest collection of crocodilians with all 23 existing species . This includes the only Orinoco crocodiles outside the Americas, which are part of a breeding program involving US zoos and the Venezuelan government. Their male Nile crocodile Sobek, at more than 5 m long and 600 kg in weight, is the largest crocodilian in Europe, and Medusa, a 6.3 m reticulated python, is among the largest snakes in Europe.
