Tanzania, off road
While touring Africa, (Kenya and Tanzania to be exact), We rented a land rover to do some off road adventure in Tanzania. We traveled from Moshi, Arusha, karatu and on to Ngorongoro crater and back to Moshi for the flight back to Nairobi. We met a lot of people along the way. Never knew what to expect while driving through the little villages along the way. Had a great time. Many great memories there.

African tribe help free two tourist 4X4s stuck in mud
Our 4x4 vehicle got stuck in the mud on our way to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. A Maasai tribe from the neighbouring village generously came to help push our safari vehicle out of the mud. However it proved more difficult than we thought.
After enlisting the help of three other 4x4s (one of which also got stuck in the mud), the Maasai villagers eventually got us free. Thank you to them!
This occurred off the road between Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on 16th January 2019. We were stuck for over an hour.
It was rainy season and the area had experienced some heavy rainfall. The Masai village had also become flooded.

Katoke Intro
This was originally used for a fundraiser intro for the Charity I am involved with, The Katoke Foundation Trust. A lovely Charity, that has helped thousands of poverty stricken families in the small area of Tanzania, Katoke. After finishing the long anticiapted secondary school, the locals require toothbrushes and toothpaste and Mosquito nets.
Malaria is still a leading cause of death and many hygeine related illnesses that ARE PREVENTABLE.

Long and winding road
A video postcard of a tough day driving down the western side of Tanzania. Clay, black cotton soil, rain, overladen vehicles and heavy duty tyres made for a slippery and challenging day. But boy, was it fun!

STORYLINE:
A speeding truck hit a vehicle in northern Tanzania, killing 11 tourists from New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and Tanzania, police said Wednesday.
Four other people were seriously injured, including some with broken limbs, said regional police chief James Kombe.
The injured remain in the hospital. Two Spaniards were transferred to Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre.
A British woman (yet to be identified) was flown to neighbouring Kenya for further treatment.
She was interned at Nairobi's hospital, in the Kenyan capital on Wednesday. Dr. Simyu John Tabu said her condition was stable but she might require surgery.
Tanzania's Police chief Kombe said four people from Spain, two from Sweden and one each from New Zealand and Switzerland were killed in the accident. Three Tanzanians also died.
Three of the dead Spaniards have been identified as Javier Felices, 30, Oscar Contreras, 30 and Maria Jose Yllanes, 22. They were volunteers for the aid group Engineers Without Borders, from the southern Spanish city of Seville.
The bodies of the victims now lie in the mortuary of the Mount Meru Hospital, in Arusha, Kombe said. He added that he was contacting the embassies of the different victims.
The accident occurred on Tuesday as the group was driving into Tanzania from neighbouring Kenya to visit some of Tanzania's national parks, Kombe said.
It was a head-on collision. Eight people were killed on the spot and two others died in hospital, Kombe said. Another victim died overnight.
The accident occurred after a speeding truck, laden with farm produce, hit three donkeys crossing the road.
The driver struggled to regain control of the truck and slammed into the vehicle ferrying the tourists from the border with Kenya, Kombe said.
The accident occurred at a bend on the road. Some 24 hours later, rescue workers were still trying to remove the onion truck from the road.
