Arusha City, Tanzania, 2018
Located at the bottom of Mt. Meru in northern Tanzania, Arusha city is the headquarters of the East African Community. It is also one of the most important tourist centres in East Africa, acting as the gateway to some of Africa's most famous tourist attractions, namely, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and the iconic snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Dating back to the German colonial era, Arusha city has a population of 416 442. Spatially, it has distinct central district (CBD) that is still mainly low rise with some scattered medium rise buildings particularly at its core. With exception of some paved street pavements, a well maintained big roundabout called Clock Tower Roundabout, and some private open spaces owned by some hotels, the city lacks adequate planned public urban spaces like squares, plazas, city parks, pedestrianized streets,, etc. Away from the CBD, low rise detached buildings become dominant.
Vividly noticeable in the city's overall spatial form is its low physical density. That provides great potential for densification through introduction of lets say skyscrapers and modern urban blocks for both commercial and residential uses. Such densification is probably the best future development option for the city and the CBD in particular, instead of some current proposals for satellite settlements.
Redevelopment of the city in the above way, could be very cost effective as it will allow optimization of the use of existing infrastructure, as well as avoiding high costs for land acquisition that are often characteristic of new satellite settlement projects. Redevelopment through densification could also allow the generation of good urban spaces like squares, plaza, pedestrianized streets, urban block inner courtyards, etc. Furthermore, such redevelopment could enhance the beauty of the city to a very great deal.
As a tourist centre, Arusha city offers many world class hotels that include Mount Meru Hotel, Four Points By Sheraton Arusha, Kibo Palace Hotel, Arusha Crown Hotel, and Impala Hotel among others. Also located in the city is an international conference centre. Furthermore, the city is served by a nearby international airport, namely Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Tanzania Arusha / Moshi - things to do, Oasis Chemka/Kikuletwa hotsprings
One of the best days of my life. Chemka/Kikuletwa hotsprings (about 27°C): an oasis with a mineral blue hole spring about two hours from Arusha in the middle of nowhere - with a decent current and skin nibbling fishes that feed on your feet and legs when you stay or sit on the edge (but not when you swim); also good for snorkeling
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, aerial view and tourist attractions
Dar es Salaam is the largest city of Tanzania and one of the largest cities in eastern Africa by population, as well as a regionally important economic centre. Located at the Indian Ocean, the city is one of the fastest growing in the world. You can visit here the museums, the botanical gardens and the beaches (on the Msasani peninsula north of Dar es Salaam and in Kigamboni to the south).

Tanzania Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Tanzania.
Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa and is located slightly south of the Equator. Its large variety of nature is overwhelming and includes the Serengeti and Selous Nature Reserves, the snow-covered Kilimanjaro and the spice island of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean. It is a country of superlatives that originated in 1964 as a result of the union of two independent countries, Tanganika and Zanzibar. On the slopes of Meru and Kilimanjaro, coffee, maize, bananas and vegetables are grown and then offered for sale at various markets. Due to its fertile volcanic soil the entire region has been used for agriculture since the middle of the nineteenth century by both the Arusha Massai and Meru tribes. The Arusha National Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Africa and its green forests are a perfect playground for the countless monkeys that live there. Around twenty million years ago its landscape was created due to volcanic activity and wonderful craters were formed as well as impressive volcanic cones. The swampy forest on the slopes of the Rift Valley features more than thirty different varieties of tree, an impressive area that offers distant views across fascinating and untouched nature and for the many wealthy tourists who spend their money in the region there are various special locations that provide excellent accommodation. The origins of the Selous Game Reserve date back to German colonial times at the beginning of the twentieth century. Later, under British rule, they were united into a large protected area. Tanzania is a natural paradise that is still known by only a few. An exotic country and one that is still waiting to be explored!

TANZANIA: Beautiful Beaches & Adventure
Tanzania and Zanzibar is a good ‘intro’ to Africa as they are very tourist friendly with good infrastructure. You can go to the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar and do water sports, climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Arusha, or go on a safari in the Serengeti. If you plan on doing a safari or climbing the mountain, use @lightsonafrica . They are one of the few tourism companies I encountered in Tanzania that was African owned. Ask for a brutha named Antonio and tell him exactly what you want to see. I told Antonio that I wanted to see lions hunt and he spotted them within a few minutes from a far distance, right before they attacked a big buffalo.
