We spent the day walking around in Tbilisi Georgia and took a trip to the bathhouses in Tbilisi central. What an amazing experience. Miles and I were so relaxed afterward spending 45 minutes at Bathhouse no.5. Great place. Great experience! I totally recommend you try the baths if you are ever i Tbilisi

My first hot sulphur bath in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
We grab a private room at Orbeliani Baths in Tbilisi's Abanotubani district and show you firsthand what to expect from the the hot sulphur (sulfur) springs.

Our second tourist route begins with Abanotubani (bath quarter), where we can get from Gorgasali Square to the street of the same name and it is an area of functioning sulfur baths, from which the construction of the Georgian capital practically began. According to the legend, sulfur springs were discovered by the Georgian king Vakhtang Gorgasali during hunting. The springs flew out of Tabor mountain. The quarter itself has several names. At first it got the name of Tbilisi, as the city is called now. And in reality, the city arose from it. In the 17th century a tribe of seids got there from Persia and since then this region was called Seidabad (seidabad means a settlement of seids). Later, at the beginning of the 18th century the quarter got the name of Kharpukhi, which means a cold. According to the legend, one of the fugitives, having caught a cold, touched a stone near Bath Gates with his nose and after that his cold disappeared. The citizens of whole town began pilgrimage there to cure from colds. In fact, Kharpukhi is not only Bath Quarter, but the whole area between Seidabad and Ortachala, a village of the same name at the slopes of the mountain Tabor. Soon this area got the name of Abanotubani. On the whole, the bath quarter consists of two streets: to the right - Botanical and to the left - Grishashvili. The main baths face Grishashvili street, which is parallel to the embankment, but somewhat higher than it. The street is separated from the Mtkvari river by dwelling houses and other constructions.

Georgia 2018 - Last Day in Tbilisi
2018-03-01 We spent our last day roaming around Tbillisi. We walked from our hotel to Abanotubani and made our way to the Love Lock Bridge where we also placed our love lock. We then had a fun walk from Meidan to Freedom Square and continued our sightseeing in Rustaveli Avenue where we returned to Marco Polo Tavern-Bar to have the best grilled pork before we head to the airport.
Our flight was supposed to take off at 23:20 but was delayed for about half an hour and so we arrived in Sharjah International Airport around 3AM the following day. We had breakfast in the food court at the airport while waiting for the first trip of the Air Arabia Coach Shuttle from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi. Luckily the shuttle departed at 7:15 so we were arrived at home an hour earlier than we expected. Below are links which hopefully may be of help:

Every corner of Tbilisi is quite captivating. Its bewitching spell is cast over the whole of this safe and friendly metropolis in which guests are considered a “gift from God”. The Georgian capital is leading the way in the country’s development. It is an example of urban harmony in which classical architecture and Art Nouveau mix wonderfully together.
Baths from the XII century can be found under the Narikala fortress, in the Abanotubani district. They possess the natural properties of sulphur waters, as King Vakhtang observed when he founded the city of Tbilisi, which was first called Tpili, an old Georgian word meaning “warm springs”.
Near the sulphur baths, there is a group of buildings that symbolize the country’s tolerance: the only Mosque in the world in which Sunni and Shiite Muslims pray together; the Great Synagogue of the Jews who, after the Ottoman Turk invasion of the city of Akhaltsikhe, resettled in Tbilisi towards the end of the XIX century; the “Sioni” or Georgian Orthodox Dormition Cathedral, site of the “Catholik” Patriarchs of Georgia until the consecration of the “Sameba”, or new Cathedral of the Holy Trinity; the Armenian Church of Saint George, in which the poet Sayat-Nova, the “king of songs,” is buried; and the Catholic Church of the Assumption.
At the end of the harvest, colourful folkloric celebrations take place in the wine making areas. These are an expression of the sociability, optimism and unbridled joy that comes from living in an open and prosperous country. A demonstration of passionate national pride, they illustrate how Georgians love to celebrate their strong sense of identity. Their dances, full of passion, leave a lasting impression.

Tbilisi has long been famous for the natural pipinghot sulphur water that bubbles out of the ground along the banks of the Mtkvari River. The oldest bath is the Erekle's Bath. Orbeliani (blue) bath with an arrowlike facade and minarets on its side is distinguished from the baths located on Abano (bath) street. It is also called Chreli abano (motley bath), as it got its name because of the motley tiles covered the portal. It was redecorated in the eastern manner in the second half of the 19th century. The plaque to the left of them reveals the thoughts of Great Russian writer Alexander Pushkin: I have never in my life come across anything better than baths in Tiflis. A great sense of freedom and wellbeing permeated me. All my tiredness had gone and I felt strong enough to lift a mountain - Alexandre Dumas, after a visit to the sulphur baths in 1858. A hundred years later Russian writer Alexey Tolstoy said, that when sitting in a marble swimming pool a man feels like either Pompey or Lucullus. All the baths are below the ground level and are overlapped by semicircular domes and are naturally lit via a glass lantern over the cupola. In ancient times people could have a bath whenever they liked and could stay in the bath till dawn. The citizens used to spend their leisure time, gave formal dinner parties and went on the spree in the baths. Women were allowed only on special days. Town matchmakers often arranged brideshows there. Fed by naturally hot mineral waters, the sulphur baths have been an essential part of Tbilisi life for centuries. Cerca de los baños de sulfuro hay un conjunto de edificios que simbolizan la tolerancia del país, la única del Mezquita mundo en la que rezan juntos sunitas y chiitas; la Gran Sinagoga de los judíos que frente a la invasión turco-otomana de la ciudad de Akhaltsikhe se instalaron en Tbilisi a finales del XIX; la “Sioni” o Catedral ortodoxa georgiana de la Dormición, sede de los Patriarcas Catholikós de Georgia hasta la consagración de la “Sameba” o nueva Catedral de la Santísima Trinidad; la Iglesia armenia de San Jorge, en cuya entrada está enterrado el poeta Sayat-Nova, llamado “rey de los cantares”; y la Iglesia católica de la Asunción.
Finalizada la vendimia, en los distritos viticultores se celebran emotivos festivales folklóricos en los que se exterioriza la sociabilidad, el optimismo, la desbordante alegría de vivir en un país próspero y abierto, el apasionado orgullo nacional y la tendencia del pueblo georgiano a presumir en público de sus señas de identidad. Sus danzas, llenas de coraje, dejan un recuerdo imborrable.
