The 1990 Tbilisi aerial tramway accident was an aerial tramway accident in Tbilisi, the capital of Soviet Georgia on June 1, 1990, which resulted in 20 deaths and at least 15 injuries. The accident involved 2 gondolas on a ropeway route between Rustaveli Avenue and Mount Mtatsminda. Red gondola number 1 was on its way down from the slope of the mountain, nearing the lower supporting tower, and red gondola number 2 was nearing an upper tower, when the hauling rope broke inside the coupler of the upper gondola. Narikala is an ancient fortress overlooking Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and the Kura River. The fortress consists of two walled sections on a steep hill between the sulphur baths and the botanical gardens of Tbilisi. On the lower court there is the recently restored St Nicholas church. Newly built in 1996–1997, it replaces the original 13th-century church that was destroyed in a fire. The new church is of prescribed cross type, having doors on three sides. We take a day trip from Tbilisi, GEORGIA to visit the wine region of Georgia and the Mountain region of Kazbegi in Georgia. Here are the TOP 5 MUST VISIT Places In GEORGIA - Things To Do & Eat - Travel Guide - Trip To Kazbegi, Kakheti, Ananuri, Gudauri
We also had an amazing time making georgian food and learned how to make georgian bread and churchkela. We also had a wine tour and learned about the different types of georgian wine. I have to say that Georgian wine is HANDS DOWN THE BEST wine I've had in my life! Especially the house wine! DELICIOUS! It was also interesting to learn about the Georgian wine making history!
Tbilisi is amazing, but stepping away from Tbilisi to the outskirts of Georgia is also an amazing experience!
The wine tour included a city tour of Signani. There we also got the chance to see the signani city walls. And while traveling to Kazbegi, we stopped by the Zinvali dam, Ananuri Fort and Gudauri mountain which was COVERED in snow at the moment! We also experienced our very first snow here in Kazbegi. An experience we will never forget in our life! And Rooms, hotels in Kazbegi is SIMPLY MIND BLOWING! We loved Georgia, and we wish to travel to Georgia again soon in summer!
