Abercrombie House is a heritage treasure of the Bathurst Region.
Built in the 1870s by Bathurst pioneers the Stewart family, today it is the home of the Morgan family who have spent many years restoring the magnificent house and its outbuildings and grounds.
Abercrombie House is open to the public throughout the year with a program of guided tours for the general public, see Tours. Coach groups may book for specific tour times and catering to suit itineraries.
Abercrombie House also provides a spectacular venue for public functions and private events.

Abercrombie House was built in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia in the 1870s by the Stewart family who were Bathurst pioneers. William Stewart came to Australia from England in 1825 as part of the colonisation of the penal colony (Australia). William was the Lieutenant Governor General of New South Wales; which meant he was hypothetically 2nd in command to running Australia. William was given land in Bathurst as a reward for doing his job well. William Stewart's eldest son James built Abercrombie House. The house is considered to be of extreme historical significance. It is listed on the National Trust Register. It is also on the New South Wales Heritage Register[1] and the Australian HeritageDatabase which describes it as an outstanding example of Victorian Tudor style architecture. It is built of granite with sandstone dressing to the quoins and window surrounds, and there are two storeys together with an attic floor. The building's most striking feature is its array of curvilinear parapeted gables topped by iron finials.[2] The 50-acre (200,000 m2) land and house is currently owned by the Rex Henry Morgan Family. Since 1969 the Morgan family has made major restorations to the house. The House is currently occupied by Christopher Morgan and his family.

The Abercrombie Caves, contained within the Abercrombie Karst Conservation Reserve, are a series of limestone arch caves that are located in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia.
This particularly attractive collection of limestone caves offer the usual array of stalagmites and stalactites. There is a river with a couple of particularly beautiful pools and the caves themselves have an array of columns and shawls with names like 'Hall of Terpischore', 'Angel's Harp', 'Plum Pudding' and 'Diamond Cascade'.

Ben Chifley (1885 -- 1951) was a railway engine-driver who became Australia's best-loved Prime Minister in 1945. He was a politician who lived by principles of compassion and concern for his fellow Australians. His philosophy and example have never been more relevant than in the political arena of today. As Prime Minister and Treasurer, he had a profound effect on the path of Australian history following World War Two, and many advantages enjoyed in our society that we take for granted today are the product of his vision.
This film is an exercise in People's History: an attempt to find and share the communal memory of Ben and his wife, Elizabeth, that lives on in their hometown of Bathurst, New South Wales. Chifley's extraordinary compassion and idealism are still treasured 50 years after his death. In Bathurst, stories about the Chifleys are treasured memories, valued almost as family heirlooms to be passed on from generation to generation. Simple, everyday artefacts - a tea cosy or an old pipe - can carry a special meaning. Similarly, places which seem ordinary but are associated with the Chifleys, such as their simple terrace home on Busby Street or the railway community meeting hall where Ben studied and taught, have strong meaning. In this film, the stories and memories of over 50 friends, neighbours and colleagues contribute to an emotional and eloquent portrait of a remarkable community and a national leader.

Had a great day. Lots of mismatched periods here. Everyone got dragged in for the final battle. Lachlan Living History Group and some Redcoats on foot, Capt. Elliots Rangers on horse. Put this video together very quickly so it is pretty rough with bits out of context. The opening scene was practice at home the week. It was the first outing for the horse I am riding (I am wearing the pale coloured jacket).
