Adventures at Denali National Park Alaska
Our first camping trip of the spring season. We're so lucky to have Denali National Park only a short drive away from where we live in Fairbanks, Alaska. It is held as one of the most beautiful State Parks in North America. We've spent quite a bit of time here and it never ceases to take our breath away. It's a place covered in lushes grasslands and snowy peaks for as far as the eye can see.
Normally, the road into the park stops for private entry around mid May and it is open exclusively to commercial buses for the rest of the summer season before closing in winter. However, there's a short window between when the snow melts on the service road and when the park opens for business. During that time, private vehicles can drive into the park for quite a ways. This is an amazing opportunity for hiking, car-side photography and camping without having to deal with the hustle and bustle during the summer tourist season.
We had a blast and hope you enjoy our video. This will be the first of our many adventures this season and we hope to share them all with you.

Oscar and Golden Globe-nominee James Caan (Mickey Blue Eyes, Eraser) and Christopher Lambert (the Highlander movie series, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan) star in this epic adventure set in Alaska about a half-Indian, half-Caucasian trapper who refuses to mine an Alaskan gold lode he owns because it will destroy sacred land. When a corrupt miner attempts to acquire the hunter's property, the two men are drawn into a violent confrontation.

Fairbanks, Alaska in the winter is freaking amazing and should be on every travelers bucket list.
We spent a week up there in March: enjoying the snow, chasing the northern lights, dog sledding, going to sled dog races, sipping cocktails with glasses made of ice in the ice museum, visiting the sculpture festival, and SO MUCH MORE.
Check out Fairbanks, Alaska... In the winter! It's one of the most incredible places I've ever been.

The Alaska Highway, Northern Rockies, Liard Hot Springs, 4x4 and more! | Go North Ep.8
The Alaska highway is an amazing drive and the only connection between Alaska and the contiguous united states. This episode we traverse the northern Rocky mountain corridor of the drive. Along the way we first stopped at summit lake to hike the Flowing Springs Lake trail. Up the road we visited the toad river lodge with its thousands of hats, then drove the 4x4 Nonda creek road to access a piece of the Muskwa Kechika management area. Muncho lake was an amazing overnight stop where we first got to see the teal/bluegreen color that so many of the mountain lakes up here have. Up the road we visited the liard river hot springs that were our favorite hot springs we have visited yet before making it to Watson Lake and the signpost forest. In Watson lake we learn the history of the Alaska highway before proceeding further to Johnsons crossing, in preparation to drive the Canol road.

Alaska: Chena Hot Springs
Chena Hot Springs is a hot spring, resort, and unincorporated community in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska, 56.5 miles northeast of Fairbanks near the Chena River State Recreation Area. The resort makes use of the first low-temperature binary geothermal power plant built in Alaska, and is working on several alternative energy projects, including production and use of hydrogen and vegetable oil for fuel. The resort is conducting collaborative experiments in greenhouse production of vegetables with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station.
Chena Hot Springs was founded over 100 years ago by two gold mining brothers, Robert and Thomas Swan. In 1905, Robert Swan was suffering from rheumatism and needed a place to calm his pain and be comfortable. The two brothers set out to find the hot springs. It took them a little over a month to reach the hot springs after searching for it in Interior Alaska’s harsh landscape. In 1911, twelve small cabins were built to accommodate visitors. The twelve cabins developed, and they became one of the most famous resorts in the interior of Alaska. Chena Hot Springs became so famous that the United States Department of Agriculture sent chemists to analyze the water. The characteristics of the water are very different from other American hot springs.
The coordinates for Chena Hot Springs Alaska are 65'03 N and 146'03 W (65.05, -146.05). The average yearly temperature for the area is −4.9 °C (23.2 °F), with the highest temperature being in July at 20.4 °C (68.7 °F) and the lowest temperature being in January at −31.2 °C (−24.2 °F). Annually the average amount of precipitation is 357 millimetres (14.1 in). The average snowfall amount in Chena Hot Springs is 161.8 centimetres (63.7 in) annually.
Chena Hot Springs has visibility of the Aurora borealis, especially around the March equinox.
Chena Hot Springs Resort uses two 200kW Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) geothermal energy power plants to generate energy, the first in Alaska. The resort moved the diesel generators used in the past to a backup role since July 2006, and it is successful in reducing the cost from 30 cents/kWh to 5 cents/kWh. The resort owners have future plans in increasing the work output of the powerplant from 200 kW to 1MW. An increase to 730 kilowatts was accomplished.

Alaska offers incredibly diverse and enjoyable experiences for those who seek for something special. Snowy mountains, seacoast glaciers, stunning National Parks, brown bears, soaring eagles; so completely untouched wilderness and freedom. Alaska is a great destination for adventurers and ecotourists.
If you go to Alaska, it is recommended to have an active adventure instead of visiting some places by bus, and that's all. You can feel the spirit of this awesome state only by experiencing the encounter with the unspoiled nature.
The largest mountain in North America, Mount McKinley, located in spectacular Denali National Park offers unsurpassed experiences for hikers and backcountry enthusiasts. Take part in a McKinley discovery tour, and your memories of the magnificent scenery will last a lifetime. You can explore Mt. McKinley and the other magnificent peaks of the Alaska Range with flightseeing tours, as well. You can land on a glacier by helicopter and go for a glacier trek.
There are a variety of different tour types, decide which one fits for you the most. Tours contain only established lodging and are quite comfortable. Tours are the most accessible trips and the most popular. Tour itineraries visit many of the same delightful locations as the Adventures, but with a greater emphasis on amenities, and are suitable for all ages. They don't require a great degree of physical conditioning, though walking is included, with some hiking optional.
Adventures include some camping - often on our own secluded properties – sometimes mixed with nights in comfortable accommodations. This type is a good choice for those who would like to experience wilder circumstances and need more adrenalin rush. Adventures are designed for beginners but do require a moderate degree of fitness.
All skiing, rafting and kayaking expeditions are for adrenalin lovers. Flowing north through the heart of the Alaska Range, the Nenana River is the most popular whitewater river in Alaska. Sea kayak trips near Kenai Fjords are also very popular. During wintertime, you can take part in a guided backcountry snowmobile tour and dogsled tour or a fantastic glacier tour. Or have you ever experienced the thrill of climbing a shimmering ice wall? If you are interested in black bears or grizzly bears, you should try some bear viewing adventure. But moose, caribou, dall sheep, mountain goat, eagle, wolf are also can be seen.
As for clothing, there are two basic rules to observe: staying warm and staying dry. So get some waterproof and warm clothes & boots and you'll be Okay.
Although this is some of the best skiing in the world, you won’t find the slopes overly crowded, and there are no long lift lines. There are nine lifts, including six chair lifts and two surface lifts, and one cable car line. There are 68 trails for beginners, intermediates and experts with the majority of the trails designed for intermediate skiers.
Night time skiing is allowed, which makes your ski experience more adventurous and thrilling. You will see snow capped mountains, hanging glaciers, and of course, the famous Northern Lights. This resort is ranked number nine of the top twenty-five killer ski trips by Skiing Magazine.
The season begins at the Alyeska Resort in mid November, and runs through mid April. This area of Alaska boasts the longest daytime areas in the United States, with approximately sixteen hours of daylight each day during April. During December, however, there are only about seven hours of daylight – which makes night time skiing necessary if you are going to get in the time that you want to spend on the slopes.
The Alyeska Prince Hotel is the place to stay! Here you will enjoy elegant rooms and fine dining. Nightly entertainment is available as well. There are other nightlife spots in the area as well, that are not associated with the Hotel.
Alaska, which has always been a source of awe and mystery, has some of the best skiing in the world and the Alyeska Resort is one of the finest resorts in the state. With a top elevation of 2751 feet and a 2501 vertical drop, the area gets an average of 631 inches of snow annually.

Terror Below Alaska Waters.
Alaska. That territory northwest of America, with more than a million square kilometers. If Germany, Poland, and France came together, they would barely manage to reach the size of this state. If it were an independent nation, it would be the 18th largest country in the world.
Alaska also has 100,000 glaciers and huge forested areas where wildlife proliferates.
In addition, it has more than 10,600 kilometers of coastline; that's more than the rest of the United States combined. These beaches are full of marine animals, such as killer whales and seals, but also underwater monsters.
