Living it in Tanzania, part 2: To Moshi and the highlands.
Our adventure in Tanzania continues. After leaving Zanzibar, we travel by bus from Dar es Salam to Moshi and the small town Merangu in the highlands, a popular starting point for people who come to hike/climb Kilimanjaro. We take a guided tour in the area, which has a beautiful flora and fauna. We visit the Kilasiya water-fall , taste some of the local banana brew, we go inside a local private mine, and get an educational guided tour of the Chagga Live Museum. And top it off with a lovely meal at a local restaurant.
Next week we take a guided safari in Lake Manyara National park, before heading for the vast Ngorongoro crater.

Southern & Eastern African Overland Adventure
A short film documenting some of our overland camping adventure from Southern Africa to East Africa. What a magical place! Camping was definitely the way to go, nothing beats falling to sleep to the sound of the bush through a thin piece of canvas! Starting in Jo'burg we trucked our way up into Zimbabwe, across to Zambia via the great Victoria Falls, through malawi alongside Lake Malawi, over Tanzania to finish on Spice Island aka Zanzibar (paradise island suits just as well). From here we cheated with a short flight over to the bustling city of Kampala (Capital of Uganda). In exchange for shelter and food we covered a heavily pregnant Ugandan Lady's job at a small school in the suburbs of Kampala, teaching 4-11 year olds for two weeks. Quite the experience in itself... And finally rented our own 4x4, camping and cooking equipment and drove ourselves around Uganda. Having this kind of freedom was unbeatable!! Self-safari's suddenly became infinitely more satisfying, as did setting up camp which involved employing the bush skills we'd learnt along the way. Fire to keep hippos away, no food in the tent to avoid predator interest at night, baboons... well get in the car and drive at them honking seemed to work. I'll miss the smiles of the beautiful people of Uganda, truly awesome and welcoming vibes. Of course there's always a couple of exceptions but we survived!
