A visit to the State Guest House - Akasaka Palace in Tokyo!
One of the hidden highlights in Tokyo is the “State Guest House Akasaka Palace”. Most of you have even seen this place on television. What kind of place that is? The “Visit Minato City” team got special permission to film the beautiful palace. Let's have a look!
The State Guest House, Akasaka Palace was built in 1909 as the Crown Prince's Palace. It is the only Neo-Baroque style palace in Japan. Today, it is used as the State Guest House. For several years, the Guest House couldn't be visited - but now it is open to the public throughout the year!
It is a western style building, but you’ll find many hidden Japanese decorations. (Taking photos inside the building is not allowed. Keep the memories in your heart!^^)
You don't need to apply beforehand when visiting the main building and the gardens surrounding it. In case of the Japanese Style Annex Yushintei you have to apply. It can only be visited with a booked tour. But it's worth it!!
The annex is a facility where foreign guests are welcomed in the Japanese style of hospitality. Here, you can see colorful Nishikigoi, a tea room and a stone garden.
Akasaka Palace is a great place and a MUST-SEE when visiting Tokyo!

Akasaka Palace (赤坂離宮 Akasaka rikyu), or the State Guest House (迎賓館 Geihinkan), is one of the two State Guesthouses of the Government of Japan. The palace was originally built as the Imperial Palace for the Crown Prince (東宮御所 Togu gosho) in 1909. Today the palace is designated by the government of Japan as an official accommodation for visiting state dignitaries. Located in the Moto Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo, the building took on its present function in 1974, having previously been an imperial detached palace. In 2009 the palace was designated as a National Treasure of Japan. The building has 15,000 m² of floor space, and together with a smaller structure in the Japanese style, occupies a 117,000 m² site.
The main building is a Neo-Baroque style Western building in Japan, resembling in particular Buckingham Palace, and it is one of biggest buildings constructed during the Meiji period.
Outside and around the palace area is a footpath unobstructed by road crossings. The footpath is about 3.25 km long (roughly 2 miles). The nearest station to the Palace is Yotsuya Station.

Akasaka in 150 Seconds ● 赤坂
► Akasaka is another city within the city of Tokyo, located more or less in the center of Tokyo. It offers a quite odd mix, being both a business district but also an entertainment district, and although its a very small area compared to other city-areas such as Shinjuku, Shibuya and Ikebukuro, it still has it's fair share of bars, restaurants and more shady establishments, (Perhaps this is reason Hooters chose to open their new branch at this very area?) The Akasaka-Mitsuke side is the more unpolished and noisy part of the area, and the Akasaka-Station side caters for those, looking for a more tasteful experience. - Enjoy!

Public Opening of the State Guest House, Akasaka Palace 迎賓館赤坂離宮 一般公開
I have been to the public visiting hotel without reservation.
Shooting was forbidden inside the hall.
It can be seen at 1,000 yen.
In Japan, school is closed for summer holiday until the end of August, so this publication is also crowded.
It is aimed at starting in September. Even without a reservation, there is no problem.
However, the Japanese style annex requires a reservation, and is a drawing.

Akasaka Kinryu | Japanese Traditional Restaurant
I haven't been able to add music as I wanted but I have to upload this video quick as alas, Akasaka Kinryu will close at the end of March so there is not much time left to go there but if you can make it to this beautiful ryotei, I highly recommend it!
Ryotei restaurants used to be luxurious traditional restaurant exclusive to the elite, especially politicians who would come to those exquisite private places to enjoy delicious food and performances by Geisha.
First time customers were not accepted back in the days when ryotei restaurants were very exclusive but nowadays, it is easier for new customers to access those restaurants as one doesn't need to be introduced by a regular customer to eat in this type of restaurants anymore.
Here is the link to Kinryu (the Golden Dragon):
