Akihabara's Deepest Secret
NOTE: the alley is under construction from June 5th to the middle of July 2017. The shrine is still there but it's prohibited to enter for 5 weeks. It will be here when you come in the summer :)
This spot is one of the great secrets of Tokyo. Hidden just 5 meters from the busiest street in the city lies a shrine dating back to the Edo period. HANABUSA SHRINE or Hanabusa Inari Jinja is a place I first learned about 10 years ago on a location shoot for TV and still to this day, it's still a totally unknown spot. Shhhh! Let's keep it this way.

Japan Trip (2017) - Chapter 6: Tokyo (Akiba, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno, Sumida, Nakano and more!)
DISCLAIMER: I was hit by copyright infringment, so the music might be low quality or not in-sync with the video. Sorry for the inconvenience!
We're going urban! The meat of the trip is here! I decided to stay 3 days in Tokyo, and it definitely wasn't enough!
The great thing about Tokyo is how every area has its own theme. It's always either too much of something or not, never in between! With that said, it was very easy to get overwhelmed by everything around me!
The best way to get around the city is through the Yamanote line. This circular train rail goes all around Tokyo and gets you to the important main stations of the city like Akihabara & Shinjuku. This is how I managed to get to most of the areas I've wanted to visit really fast and let me tell you, I've visited A LOT!
Here's a quick summary of all the areas I've visited:
- Akihabara is THE place for arcades and anything otaku/retro shopping! Obviously, being me, I had to try some games out! In the swarm of pachinko, crane games and some really weird looking games like a flip the table game, I finally found an actual arcade with actual games that I love and am familiar with! For instance, I found a Radiant Silvergun arcade cabinet, and I actually got a high score in another game that I use to play!
- Shinjuku at night was absolutely stunning! Have you ever watched Bladerunner? The alleyways and narrow streets reminded me of the scenes in that movie where Harrison Ford ate his ramen! While being there, I also went to the Government Building. There are free observatory tours and you can get a pretty nice view of the city from the top!
- Being in Shibuya, I obviously had to visit the famous scramble crossing where a swarm of human cross the streets every day! Trying to find the perfect place to find the perfect shot was an adventure in itself!
- Ueno has beautiful gardens. It's a calm area, and there is a zoo that has many Japanese animals in it! This is also where the Tokyo National Museum is located. For some reason, no pictures & videos were allowed. Still, I managed to sneak in a few shots here and there!
- Asakusa has a more traditional look and feel compared to the rest of the city with its many museums and universities. It is also home to the Sensoji Temple, one of the crowded ones I was talking about before;
- In Sumida, you can find the Tokyo Skytree! It's like its own little city with shops and all! Speaking of shops, I might have gone to a dedicated Pokémon Center shop and bought a few things...!
- Ikebukuro is the Walmart of Tokyo! It is the place to shop for food and pretty much anything else! It's like an underground city: finding the exit was very complicated! The Seibu department store is one of the biggest in the city!
- Kawaii! I wanted to go to Harajuku to see the famous cosplayers street walk on Tamatchi street. Sadly, it wasn't a Sunday when I visited and that is usually the best time to spot them. No luck for me this time! There were some pretty nice clothing shops though. Oh, and pancakes!
- Yoyogi Park is the area where Meiji Shrine resides. It is another very popular area to visit for its gardens. Many school trips happen there too!
- Near Tokyo itself, I went full sightseeing mode and took a few shots of some important government buildings, the Diet Building being one of them. It was well protected! The Imperial Palace in Chiyoda was closed for the day sadly, so I couldn't get to see the imperial gardens. It was still impressive to see so many people do their jogging all around the palace perimeter after they finished work!
- In Minato, I visited Zojoji Temple which is really close to the Tokyo Tower! The tower is another great spot to take a nice shot of the city. There was even a special One Piece event happening at the base of the tower! Obviously, I had to check it out!
- Nakano Broadway is kind of an alternate to Akihabara, that's why it is sometimes called old Akiba! Perfect for otaku/games shopping!
- There was no better time to finish my last night in Tokyo in, well, Tokyo itself! I went to eat at a conveyor belt sushi place and boy was it good! Surprisingly, sushis are considered a delicacy over there in Japan so it is harder to find a decent sushi shop.
I've put the limits of my phone (and as much as I can do in terms of editing with the limited software I have!!) to the test for this video log!
Enjoy!

JAPAN 日本 東京 TOKYO: MEIJI SHRINE, HAREJUKU & AKIHABARA // VLOG#93
Before we resume our in depth exploration of Tokyo, Kate needs bread and she finds the best Ciabatta she's had in a year. Tokyo really does have the best food in the world. We walk from our hotel in Shinjuku to the famous Mejii Jingu (Shrine) in Yoyogi Park. This gorgeous Shinto shrine is an oasis of tranquility right in the center of Tokyo. Definitely a must see for any Tokyo itinerary. Following the tranquility of the Meiji Shrine we head straight into the heart of the commercial beast and hit up Harejuku's Takeshita Dori, one of the best shopping (and people watching) areas in Tokyo. We get right into anime culture and explore some awesome clothing and cosplay shops. We make sure to scratch our nerd-itch by shopping our way through all 8 floors of Yodobahi-Akiba, one of the largest electronic stores in the world before exploring the rest of the Akihabara District where get right into the heart of the anime and manga culture in Tokyo...not to mention crowds of people playing Pokemon Go crowding the sidewalks. We make a late night stop for street food in Piss Alley (Omoide Yokocho), a true local favorite. While making our way back through Shinjuku we happen upon Godzilla Road which sports its very own giant Godzilla peaking over a building. Vending machines are central to life in Tokyo so we make sure to hydrate with none other than a Pocari Sweat from right here in it's homeland!

Japan Vlog 5- Tokyo, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku and Akihabara
Vlog 5-
We took a 3 + hour train ride from Osaka back to Tokyo.
Stayed at our Airbnb in Shinjuku which was about $50 per night.
Visited Meiji Shrine, then headed across the shrine to Harajuku street. Some food places to mentioned in the vlog were: Calbee Store, Santa Monica Crepes, Line friends store, Zakuzaku soft serve ice cream and Pablos.
We ended the night in Akihabara- Electric town. If you love Anime and videos games, and themed cafes this is the place to go!

Welcome to Vincent's Travels and Vlogs,
It is my pleasure to present you our Day 1 Travels in Tokyo, Japan. Everything in this video was captured using the iPhone 7 Plus. I have travelled to many countries in the past, but this was the first travel/vlog video I've ever done. With the Hyperlapse app, I was able to do a time-lapse of the subway, train, airplane, and us walking down to many renowned attractions of Tokyo. Most importantly, I would again like to thank the Japan America Society of Hawaii for sponsoring our trip. Enjoy the ride; this is Day 1 of 6 in Japan.

Hi guys!
Kyuho and I just got back from a 5 day trip to Tokyo and we had an incredible time! This was my first time back in over 10 years, and it was Kyuho’s first time there ever ^^
We stayed in Asakusa, which is gorgeous and has a more traditional Japanese setting. The next day we visited Shibuya, the ultimate shopping place, and then the day after we checked out Akihabara, AKA electric city! This district is the most famous for all electronics, video games, anime, manga, etc. We spent a lot of time (and money!) in the arcades here and had a blast.
We visited so many places and took so much footage that there will be a “Tokyo Part 2” video next week, so stay tuned! :D
Also, thank you so much for all the incredibly lovely comments on our wedding video. As corny as it may sound, we actually are super touched by all this support from around the world, so we really appreciate it ^___^
Anyway, we hope you enjoyed this video, and have a good week!

1-Day Tokyo Shopping at Akihabara, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Shinjuku | Tokyo, Japan Travel Episode 2
Do you know what Akihabara, Harajuku, Shibuya and Shinjuku have in common? These are the places to go within Tokyo if you're looking for shopping destinations. In this video, we will be exploring each of these Tokyo shopping areas and see what each has best to offer.
Akihabara is the go to place in Tokyo if you're after for the latest electronics or high-tech gadgets, or if you're looking for hard-to-find anime collectibles.
Harajuku has a mix of affordable, yet easy-on-the-pocket street shopping options (Takeshita Street), as well as luxury, high-end brands (Omotesando Street). An imperial shrine famously known as Meiji Jingu Shrine, is also near the Harajuku train station and is a must for those who are seeking cultural scenery in Japan.
Shibuya is known for youth and hip culture, and naturally shopping options here cater to the younger millennial generation. Shibuya is home to the Hachiko Statue and the world-famous Shibuya Crossing.
Lastly, Shinjuku is home to the Tokyo Government Center, but also features shopping areas. The Shinjuku train station is dubbed as the world's busiest transport hub, where almost all train lines in Tokyo convene.

TOKYO in 4K - Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara 【渋谷・新宿・秋葉原】
Shinjuku - Shibuya - Akihabara
Today I take you on a walk through Tokyo, or being more precise the above mentioned districts in Tokyo.
I guess, you have heard about all of them? If not, you will get to know them in my video.
I normally make normal vlogs or talk about topics relating to Japan or other things. So, this is the first video I upload, where I don't speak and you rarely see my face.
I never thought, it would be a good video, but I became really excited while editing, because it looks quite cool, with the footage from my GoPro and all the speed ramping effects. Not to mention, the music. I normally use music without lyrics, but as I'm not talking in this video, it was possible, to get more creative, in this sense.
Hope you enjoy the video, as I did editing it.
See you
