Shin'en Garden of Heian jingu in Kyoto!
The Shin'en consists of four gardens which surround the main shrine buildings on the south, west, middle, and east. With a total area of approximately 33,000 square meters, these stroll-style landscape gardens are designated as a national scenic spot representative of Meiji-era (1868-1912) garden design.
Nishi Shin'en (West Garden)
The focus of the Nishi Shin'en is a quiet pond named Byakko-ike. The irises around the pond bloom in all their glory in early summer, lending the garden an ethereal beauty. A tea ceremony arbor called Choshin-tei is located in the cluster of trees in the garden's southwest.
Minami Shin'en (South Garden)
This garden is a Heian-style garden designed for holding Kyokusui-no-en, a garden party during which aristocrats amused themselves by composing Japanese poems. In spring, the garden is bright with the deep pink blossoms of drooping cherry trees. The cherry blossoms are followed by azaleas in early summer and by hagi (Japanese bush clover) in autumn. The garden contains a smaller garden called Heian-no-sono featuring plants and flowers which appear in Heian-period literary works.
Naka Shin'en (Middle Garden)
Visitors who pass through the cluster of trees behind the shrine's main buildings will find a beautiful garden called Naka Shin'en. this garden, as well as the Nishi Shin'en, was constructed in 1895. It contains the Soryu-ike pond which features the Garyu-kyo, a walkway consisting of stone pillars which once served as foundation stones for the girders of Sanjo Ohashi and Gojo Ohashi, famous bridges in the centre of the city of Kyoto. The pond is surrounded by an exquisite expanse of rabbit-ear irises.
Higashi Shin'en (East Garden)
This garden was contructed in the early 1910s. In the centre of the garden, there is a pond called Seiho-ike on which courtiers are said to have gone boating in ancient times. Borrowing the Higashiyama hills as background scenery, the garden contains two elegant old-style buidings - the Taihei-kaku and the Shobi-kan adjacent to it - which add to the garden's overall charm.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Yasaka shrine〜
The buildings at Yasaka Shrine date from 1654 and were built on the order of the shogun of the day, Tokugawa Ietsuna. The entrance gate, or Ro-mon, stands at the top of a flight of stairs and the shrine is protected by two guardian statues at each side.
The stone torii gate on the south side is 9.5 m (31 feet) in height - one of the largest in Japan, and dates from 1646. Two wooden koma-inu (lion dog guardians) in the shrine are said to have been carved by the celebrated sculptor Unkei, who also created many of the statues of the Kannon Buddha at Sanjusangendo Temple, in the 13th century.
Yasaka Jinja is dedicated to the Shinto deities Susano-o-no-Mikoto and his consort Inadahime-no-Mikoto.
The many lanterns advertising the sponsors of the Gion Matsuri hang from shrine buildings and make for a beautiful sight, especially at night.
Some of the huge floats used during the Gion Matsuri are stored on the shrine grounds.

Kanazawa is the prefectural capital of Ishikawa Prefecture and located in the central part of the mainland of Japan. The city area is located between the Saigawa River and the Asano River. Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenrokuen Garden (one of the three greatest gardens in Japan) are located in the center of the city area, and shopping quarters (Korinbo, Kata-machi, Musashi, and Kanazawa Station) surround them.
Kanazawa has a population of 458,000 (as of January 2010), and is the center of the economy and culture of the Hokuriku area (Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Fukui Prefecture). It was a great castle town ruled by an influential leader from the 17th century to the second half of the 19th century. Kanazawa has not suffered from any war devastation or big natural disaster up to now. Therefore, Kanazawa maintains rows of historical houses and inherits traditional handicrafts and traditional performing arts.
The climate of Kanazawa is almost as mild as that of Tokyo or Osaka.

EPISODIO 69 de PERO ESO ES OTRA HISTORIA (web serie documental)
Los emperadores del Periodo Nara tuvieron muchísimas influencias de China, como la escritura, el calendario y sobre todo la religión. El budismo llenó las instituciones, y el emperador Shomu hasta construyó una enorme estatua a Buda en el Todai-ji. También la emperatriz Shotoku tuvo un lío con un monje llamado Dokyo, pero el clan Fujiwara logró echarle y comenzar a mandar, rechazando el budismo para alcanzar una cultura propiamente japonesa.
Este nuevo periodo es conocido como Heian, una época de esplendor, cultura, arte... pero también lleno de guerras. Las aristocracias militares de las provincias empiezan a tener mucha independencia y mucho poder, y con sus ejércitos crean a los primeros samurais. A partir de 1051 empiezan grandes rebeliones de estos clanes por el poder, como Zenkunen, Hogen, Heiji y la gran Guerra de Genpei, que dio la supremacía al clan Minamoto y dio origen a la época feudal japonesa, la de los Shogunatos.
