Little known to Egyptians, Alexandria National Museum is a rare treasure containing some 1,800 priceless Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Islamic and Coptic artifacts that narrate the story of the Mediterranean historical city of Alexandria.
Located in downtown, the museum was opened for the public in 2003, hosting artifacts of all historical events from the Pharaonic dynastic times, passing through the Ptolemaic Kingdom, the Roman Empire, the Byzantine and Islamic periods until the beginning of Mohammed Ali's era.

There are different places to visit in Egypt and a lot of gems to dig deep behind and get the chance to see, all you have to do is plan to travel to Egypt, write down your list, and search behind the best places to visit in Alexandra, and you will be all there.
Aquarium museum, Alexandria should be considered one of the historical places out there because it was open since 1930, which is pretty much good time.
The Aquarium museum location is near Qaitbay fort on Alexandria's Eastern harbor. There are different species to be found out there which include a display range of fish as well as crustaceans and turtles.
The species found in the aquarium of Alexandria come from the Mediterranean and Red Seas around Egypt, and not just that, but there are also some which come from the fresh water of the Nile and the Amazon.
The Aquarium museum, Alexandria, might be a little bit small but there are lots of things to see there. It is actually divided into two different parts, the one related to the sea species which you will see while swimming, and the second part is the actual museum.
The aquarium museum prices are not high, it is for 10 EGP and you could pay more if you are willing to take photos inside.
Try always to visit this place during the working days of the week because otherwise you will find it crowded with people and you will never get the chance to read all what is written about the living species or even notice everything that is inside.
It is considered a good idea to take the kids to the aquarium museum and let them feel astonished by the living species they are going to see.
The amount of time you might spend in this museum watching those fish and getting to know more about them will not exceed 20 minutes, which is considered enough for such a small place.
It might be improved because some of the tanks found out there don't give much space for the living species out there to swim comfortably, so if you are an animal lover and understand how they should be living, you might get the chance to notice that easily, but if not, you will consider the whole thing ordinary.
This might be part of your day to the citadel and a walk by the fort, but other than that, you should never place a whole day trip for this museum because it takes no time at all and might be done through a walk from a place to another.
Alexandria tourist attractions are different and they are not just related to aquariums and the sea life, but there are castles and old buildings to get astonished by and lots of different things to see, not just that, but these castles and citadels are found by the sea, so you will get the chance to see the historical places and enjoy the fresh breeze by the sea as well.
Egypt tourism is usually directed towards the capital, Cairo, and sometimes is is directed towards the red sea, but you should always give Alexandria a try if you are more interested in history and seeing the old country of Egypt, and at this point you could also plan a two or three days away and enjoy a dip in the water of the North Coast.
You could also visit Alexandria National Museum, Citadel of Qaitbay, Ras El Tin Palace, Montaza Palace, Royal Jewelry Museum, Graeco Roman Museum, as well as other different attractions which you could find yourself more interested to go to and which will depend on your likes and dislikes.
There are still other places to head off to when it comes to Alexandria, such as Qaytbay Citadel, Library of Alexandria, or even walk around the streets and get the chance to walk by the beach.

Alexandria, Egypt was founded by Alexander the Great in April 331 BC, and became the capital of the Graeco-Egyptian world.
The ancient port city was home for one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - The Pharos of Alexandria (The Lighthouse of Alexandria). The port served as a primary center for commerce and trade linking Europe with the Middle East and all other points along the Mediterranean Sea.
It was an important route for merchants and travelers of ancient times that allowed for trade and cultural exchange between emergent peoples of the region. Within a few generations Alexandria become the largest city in the world second only to Rome. Much of the city design and construction came under the rule of Ptolemy and his successors, later by the Roman Empire. The city was not only a center for trade but also became the worlds first center for cultural and scientific research. The Musaeum at Alexandria (Museum of Alexander) also known as the Library of Alexandria become an important world center for Greek music, poetry, a philosophical school and library. The famous institution brought together some of the best scholars of the Hellenistic world paving the way for advancing the study of mathematics, astrology, anatomy to name a few.
Alexandria also served as the setting for the stormy relationship between Cleopatra and Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. The city remained an important trading port until a series of eartquakes and tidal waves pushed the city into decline. By the time Napoleon landed he found a sparsely populated fishing village.

There are even some more modern pieces, including 19th century jewelry which provide a sense of the richness of the court of Mohammed Ali and his descendants. Mummies are shown in a special underground chamber (in the basement). Also, some of the items found during the archaeological underwater excavations in Alexandria are now on the same floor as the Greco-Roman artifacts.
