Nippon Maru Engine Room, Sefco Japan - Maritime series 1r (2010)
Berthed in Yokohama harbor, the Nippon Maru training ship is viewed from on-board. Here we see a video of the ships engineer discussing its engine room. This series of short videos include images taken in and around both Yokoh, ama Bay and Tokyo Harbor.
As an island nation, Japan has along history as well as current focus on maritime activities.
Its port museums reflect this history and interest; thousands of students go on tours of the museums which help stoke interest in and appreciation for maritime science ad commerce.
Included in this series, one can see: Lift-van crates stored in transit while on the docks at Yokohama Bay, covered by a large canopy, on the dock and out of doors. (Which leads us to the question: would your LCL cargo be well enough protected, to withstand the elements which dockside or in transit? Export packaging is crucial element to safe transport of sea-going cargo.)
Container ships staged at the docks andd working their cargo (loading/unloading) while on Yokohama port and Odaiba port in Tokyo Harbor.
Japanese customs house facilities, current location and past history of their operations; port control facilities run by the Japanese Coast Guard. Japanese SDF self defense force videos. Port wind & water turbines.
Historical perspectives: on and off board the Nippon Maru sailing training vessel; Yokohama Port museum, symbolic statuary for the sister port relationship between Yokohama and Vancouver ports, dockyard photos - past and present, the Minato No. 1 Bridge - built 1906 by the American Bridge Company of New York.
Be sure to return to our web site to see additional videos and presentations, on the subjects: international trade and commerce, export and import operations, overseas moving and shipping of both personal and commercial cargo, roll on - roll off ships, container ships, LCL lift-van cargo, export packaging, international freight forwarding agent facilities, overseas transport of high & heavy equipment , and special analysis of martime history, law and issues pertaining to Sefco Export Management Company's business - including examinations of the nexus of culture, commerce, politics and national interests.

YOU CAN DIVE With the Women Sea Divers of JEJU ISLAND | Unique Experience only found on JEJU
Hello again!
In today’s episode, we are doing something that is COMPLETELY UNIQUE to Jeju Island. You just can’t find something like this anywhere else in the world.
Why?
BECAUSE NOWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD DO THEY HAVE HAENYEO LIKE THEY DO HERE.
Simple as that. :)
Haenyeo are the women sea divers of Jeju, and their history and cultural relevance is so important, UNESCO inscribed the haenyeo culture on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Out of a need to survive, Jeju women of the past were forced into the sea to hunt for food. As more and more women joined the community of sea divers, it grew into a culture of its own, creating a unique phenomenon to Jeju Island.
If you’re interested about the Haenyeo, or even if you just want a completely different and unique experience, make sure to check out the video! I’ll show you how you can dive with the famous haenyeos of Jeju!

The Story behind Diver UP! Produced by: Last Night on Earth
“Diver UP! Showdown
On Friday November 21st Stray Kat Gallery is pleased to present the first edition of “Diver, UP! Showdown, a group exhibition comprised of the hottest artists of New York City's underground art movement.
Handsome and commodious, the gallery space, formerly an old meat packing plant, provides a fresh newness to the prime image by Victor Spinelli. The “Showdown” artists present a mix of traditional and new media works featuring digital art techniques, painting, and collage.
Spinelli's Diver UP has a strong quality to it, like a logo. The perfectly formed female figure holding an elephantine helmet of a deep-sea diver represents the conflict between the viewer's understanding of today's pop-culture and the conundrum of logo-engagement.
Logos have the ability to take hold in your mind in an involuntary way, breaching your self-conscious, rendering it changed forever. The Diver delivers a ready-made visual brand for each chosen artist, a brand that is unique and significant to the ever-loving fans of Spinelli's Diver UP! image.
Spinelli began his artistic journey as a self-taught photographer, traveling the world to over 65 countries, camera in hand. Out of an opportunity that literally fell from the sky, Spinelli discovered photography while piloting a hot-air balloon as a jumping platform for skydivers back in the early 90s. Serendipity on his side, he descended into a prison and took pictures of the prison warden posing with the “captured” hot-air balloon and has been growing with each move he makes.
The prominent 16 artists who will create a piece for the show are: Anders Malmberg, Carlos Pinto, Craig Anthony Miller, Col Wallnuts, Deadcell 84, DOPE, FUMERO, John Arthur Carr, Jill Folino, LightweightNYC, Nathaniel Galka,Raquel Echanique, Savior Elmundo, Sean Calen Blake, SIENIDE, SpazeCraft One and Tobias Batz.
DJ Tuckahoe Tucker Hill will be spinning solid gold beats that will stir your soul.
