Italy: Amalfi Coast Drive from Sorrento to Positano
The Amalfi Drive (formally Strada Statale 163) is the conventional name of a stretch of road which runs along the stretch of the Amalfi Coast between the southern Italian towns of Sorrento and Amalfi. The road was originally built by the Romans. The drive between Salerno, at the southern base of the peninsula, and Positano follows the coast for about 80 km (50 mi).
For the greater part of its route, the road is carved out of the side of the coastal cliffs, giving spectacular views down to the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the other side up to the towering cliffs above. The road passes through the village of Positano, which is built on the side of the hill. Both the village and the whole drive are leading tourist attractions in the area.
The Amalfi coast is an UNESCO-listed landscape lined with small towns precariously perched between mountains & the sea.

The BEST Amalfi Coast Driving Tour! 4K UHD
Enjoy a 4K UHD tour along Italy's most beautiful coastline, The Amalfi Coast (Italian: Costiera Amalfitana) in this episode of Prowalk Tours. The Amalfi Drive, formerly known as the SS 163, is considered to be the most scenic stretch of coastline in Europe and one of the best coastal drives in the world. Unfortunately, when you are stuck in a car or in a bus, it is not possible to get a good view. In this scooter video, you will get the best possible view for the entire 80 km (50 miles). This video was filmed on September 7th, 2019. I started the day by renting a scooter at Jollyrents in Sorrento (link below). I mounted two cameras, the DJI Osmo Pocket and the Insta360 One X. The Osmo pocket video was filmed in 4K at 60fps. At minute 1:17:59, the Osmo Pocket camera battery died so the remaining part of the video is from the Insta360 One X camera. To see the 360 version of this drive, click on the following link: Let's go for a drive!

How to ride a Vespa like an Italian on the Amalfi Coast Italy
We continued our Italian journey to Sorrento where I always wanted to rent a vespa and cruise the Amalfi coast. We road through Positano, it was one of the best experience ever, I highly recommend it if you're confident on two wheels. We stayed in a beautiful B&B with the best view in Sorrento.

ROAD TRIP IN ITALY! (Rome to Amalfi Coast)
Went on a roadtrip from Rome to Amalfi Coast, Italy few weeks ago with my friends and I did not expect the roads to be as crazy! Took a train from Rome to Naples and rented out two SUV's for 500 Euros each for 6 days so that we can drive around Amalfi coast and you'll find out how to get to areas like Pompeii, Ravello, Sorrento and Positano. Traveling around Italy can be expensive but I highly suggest for you to buy your food in grocery stores to save a lot of money. I really travel on a budget but there are times that I really have no choice but to spend on transportation, accommodation and food. I also got a lot of questions on how to drive in Europe; all you need is your driver's license and passport at all times when driving and you're only allowed to drive for 3 months. If you wish to drive for 1 year in Europe, you can apply for an International drivers license in your country before leaving.

AMALFI COAST ROAD TRIP IN A VINTAGE CAR! - Hertz Selezione Italia
This month Lauren and I were invited out to Italy by Hertz to test drive the Fiat 500 Jolly “Spiaggina” Icon E along the Amalfi coast for 3 days. We filmed the whole thing and put together this little montage to give you a glimpse of our mini Italian road trip!
These vintage cars have been fully refurbished and customised by Garage Italia to not only look amazing, but to also have an electric engine. These exact cars are now available to rent through Hertz Italia so you can do this same trip too!
Hope you enjoy!

Driving the twisting roads of the Amalfi Coast. See what it's really like.
Take a funny look at the challenging driving on the Amalfi Coast. Crazy Italian drivers passing on blind curves, tailgating, and crossing over the line. The Amalfi Coast Road is curvy, narrow with cliff on one side and the air and sea on the other. You share the road with huge buses, tandem trailers, center lane driving scooters and motorcycles, cyclists and teeny cars hugging your butt. Enjoy this video and then if you like, check out our funny experiences during our three week voyage through Italy. Learn how to travel with kids--we had our 11 year old son along. What a life changing experience!
Enjoy, and come read our blog...

The Amalfi Coast – a destination of legendary proportions. Indulge in the romance of the region with our footage of the coastline, and start planning a journey of your own!
When ready, browse vacation packages to Amalfi Coast:
The #AmalfiCoast stretches for 30 miles along the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in Southern Italy. This route has attracted the rich and beautiful for thousands of years and inspired some of the world’s greatest artists and writers.
The area’s largest city, Amalfi is a great place to begin your #vacation. A wealthy and powerful town during medieval times, #visit the magnificent buildings that reflect that early wealth. Positano is perhaps the best-known destination on the coast. A favourite of celebrities since the 1950s, this town glitters with old-world glamour. Visit the Terraces of Infinity, at Villa Combine, a view so stunning that the famous American writer, Gore Vidal called it “the most beautiful view in the world.”
With its endless sunshine, Mediterranean colours and a landscape of gripping drama and breathtaking beauty, the Amalfi Coast truly is a legendary destination.

The Italian Road Trip: Amalfi Coast
We drove back to the ocean and based ourselves in Vico Equense for 4 days. On one of these days we took a bus to Positano, one of the Amalfi coast's many towns - the most popular, too.
Positano... hah, more like Posita-no you can't swim here this is a private beach
But seriously, there's only about a 10m² area of the beach that you can freely use. Wow I sound like an angry dad on Trip Advisor. Nevertheless, Positano's a rly cool place - you should visit :)
I would've liked to have seen more of this region, but you know how the saying goes, 'time flies when you've crammed an overly ambitious list of locations into a 3 week road trip and end up staying a maximum of 3 nights in each place'

Bus Ride on the Spectacular Amalfi Coast of Italy
A thrilling bus ride on the Amalfi Coast - buckle up and enjoy:) The Amalfi Drive was originally built for mule transport in the 19th century and is thus very narrow. Today the road is heavily used: two-wheelers, cars, buses and even trailer truck share and negotiate this challenging road.The vistas are spectacular!
A surprise awaits at the 6:00 mark.

Amalfi Coast, Italy: Illustrious Seaside Town
More info about travel to the Amalfi Coast: The town of Amalfi is perched on Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast just south of Naples. Amalfi has a proud history that peaked in the 10th century when it was a maritime trading power with a fleet that rivaled Genoa, Pisa and Venice. That's why the town boasts an art-filled cathedral grander than a town of 7,000 would merit. Today, Amalfi lives off tourism and invites visitors to enjoy la dolce vita.

Driving in Italy - The Amalfi Coast - Sorrento to Ravello
This is a video about driving in Italy. It is a full length drive along the Amalfi Coast from Sorrento to Ravello. Use the 'Speed' in 'Settings' to play this faster - Turn off the sound if you don't want to hear our comments.
We took this drive off season in March. It took us close to two hours to drive 17 miles so you can imagine how high season would be.
(I used a Crosstour CR900 Dash Cam to record this.)
On the plane home I made this note about driving in Italy:
Traffic flowed
No road rage
No hostility
Cooperative
Aggressive
Giving
Fair
Assertive
Patient
Forgiving
In a symbiotic relationship
Felt like being in a family
Respectful
Helpful
Not much texting and driving, like they take driving serious
People were going super slow and super fast but most were going moderately.
Saw no accidents
Felt like we were all water flowing
Not a lot of stopping at stop signs
They stopped at lights
There no ownership of roads or lanes
I saw one police car in 1200 miles of driving
~~~~~~~~~
As to who should drive in Italy and who shouldn't:
If you’re music preference is:
Improvisational, do
If it is Classical, don’t.
When cooking or baking, if you follow the recipe to a T, don’t.
If you put a little of this and a little of that into a recipe, do.
If you are a hacker, do.
If you believe antivirus software will protect you , don’t.
If you believe you have to be able to do something before you try it, don’t.
if you believe that a part of learning is making mistakes, do.
If you see the world in black-and-white, don’t.
If you see the world in shades of gray, do.
If you ever order something off a menu and you have no idea what it is, do.
If you only oerder what you already know, don't
If you are territorial and believe in ownership, don’t.
If you get along collectively with people, do.
If you have ever used the phrase “he who hesitates is lost“, do.
If you tend to be a nice driver and let people into your lane, don’t.
If you tend to be an defensive person, don’t.
If you can transition between aggressiveness and giving, do.
If you were judgmental, don’t.
If you are forgiving, do.
if you believe in following every law & rule, don’t.
If you tend to think of rules as suggestions, do.
if you are a road rager, don’t.
If you believe people can cut you off while driving, don’t.
If you feel everyone should follow the rules of the road, don’t.
If you believe lanes are designed to indicate where cars travel, don’t.
If you sometimes like driving really slow and do it in the right lane, do.
If you believe there’s a speed limit and everyone should follow it, don’t.
If you believe the left lane is for passing, do.
If you believe there’s a speed limit and it doesn’t matter what lane you’re in, don’t.
I hope this helps!
From Sorrento, we hired a car and drove around the Amalfi Coast down to Positano. Let me tell you something about Positano: beautiful yes, but driving in Positano is hell in summer. There are so many people trying to use its streets that it takes literally hours to go anywhere. Next stop was Pompeii via Amalfi.
Road to Amalfi Driving Virtual Tour 4K
This is the road to Amalfi, Italy. The bus ride originated in Salerno and took about 1.5 hours to get to Amalfi. Its not too far away but the fact that the road is so windy and the amount of traffic is high, there is plenty of time spent stuck in traffic jams. Many times the road to Amalfi gets over crowded on its narrow ride. The town of Amalfi is special and Positano I would imagine lives up to the hype.
