Summer Fun In Ludington Michigan
Ludington Michigan is packed with fun things to do in the summer months. You can climb up a sand dune and run down to Lake Michigan and jump in the clear blue water. Ludington is a harbor town located on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Pere Marquette River. At the harbor, visitors can watch the S.S. Badger as it makes it's way accross Lake Michigan into Ludington from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Harbor is right in downtown Ludington where there is dinning, shopping, parks, beaches and a marina. A few miles from town is Ludington State Park which has a great beach, sand dunes and camping. Also located here, is Hamlin Lake which is also a popular attraction with many fun activities to do. Ludington is also home to many great golf courses and nature areas. A popular activity in the summer months is blueberry and apple picking from many of the great orchards in the area. Featured in this video are a few clips of Historic White Pine Village and Amber Elk Ranch. This historic village of over twenty-five buildings and sites of history is dedicated to preserving and presenting Mason County's past. Amber Elk Ranch. Visitors can get a wagon ride accross 130 acres and see magnificent elk as they roam this area. There is also a petting zoo.

Wild Elk On the Farm
These creatures may be farm elk but they are still fierce and very much wild at heart. Ranging in size between 800 and 1200 pounds when fully mature, elk are fascinating beasts and a desirable source of meat for human consumption. Imagine the strength to lift another elk - weighing even hundreds of pounds more - above their head and shake it like a rag doll. There's a reason these bulls are not ridden at rodeos :)

115-120 Elk Herd Meadowbrook Farm Wildlife reserve North Bend/Snoqualmie.MPG
One 12 point bull within 115 plus Elk Herd. September 1st, 2010. on the 2nd of Sept. the herd is gone, I didn't see any grazing tonight, and reports are they weren't on the west (near HWY 202) or south side (by the interpretation center). Hum. No other bulls in the herd could give him a challenge, at the most small beam 10 points were still around, the other 12's that were still in velvet a few days ago, weren't around. Saw a few gps collared cows with tags in their ears around this bull.

Casey Visits an Elk Farm
You'll see lots of cows and pigs when you drive around Minnesota. But if you head to Howard Lake, you'll find a unique farm raising elk. Casey DeRosier visited Splendor Ridge to learn about elk. Check out Casey's blog, Livin' La Vida Local, on the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's Minnesota Grown .
