Amazing old 1982 Hitachi Traction Scenic Elevator@Ameyoko Center Building, Ueno, Taito, Tokyo, Japan
Filmed in January 2016. This building is really nice - it is a kind of a small shopping center in Ueno, Taito Ward, Tokyo. It was opened on 21.December, 1982. It is a little older than I thought, since it still looks rather fresh, and it has an amazing chime! What an amazing scenic elevator!

Taito Stations- LIVE JAPAN
If you visit a few of the major areas of Tokyo, you will no doubt come across a Taito Station, one of Japan's leading game center chains. Easily recognizable by their multi-storied buildings, with a bold red and white logo featuring their famous Space Invaders character. Even if you aren't familiar with the Taito Corporation name, you have probably come across one of its many creations at some point. The Japanese company, which was founded, surprisingly, by Russian Jewish businessman Michael Kogan in 1953, was responsible for the creation of some of the world's earliest arcade games, including classics such as Space Invaders in 1978, and Bubble Bobble in 1986.

Walking around ,tokyo ,street market-tokyo Japan
Ameya-Yokochō (アメヤ横丁 Ameya alley) is an open-air market in the Taito Ward of Tokyo, Japan, located next to Ueno Station.[1]
The market is approximately 164,227 square feet in area, starting just behind the Yodobashi Camera building and following the Yamanote Line south until the Komuro building.
There are two theories on the etymology of Ameya. The first is that the name came from ameya (飴屋 candy shop), because of all the candy stores that lined the street in the early post-war era when sugar was hard to come by. Even now, there are stores selling candy there. The second theory is that it refers to アメリカ (America); there used to be stores selling surplus American army goods just after World War II. In either case, it is now commonly referred to simply as ameyoko (アメ横).

Just a few steps from Ueno station, lies a traditional market along a street called Ameyoko-cho, where many unique goodies with reasonable price (compare to other places in Tokyo) are sold. Therefore, Ueno District is a recommended one-stop tourism spot you can choose while traveling at Tokyo.

Japanese Retro Game Centers | Tokyo Arcade Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Japanese game centers are must visit places on any trip to Japan, but in Tokyo, there is a place where you can time warp back to the 1980s and 1990s and play those games of the past, too. Since Japan was the leader in arcade game programming and machine production, the culture stretches back decades and those old machines are still in use!
Why do these retro arcade games and game centers still exist in Japan?
In the USA, the arcade culture rapidly declined when the game consoles gained wide popularity, especially in the early 1990s, but in Japan, arcades or game center culture continued because it was more about the experience than the games itself. It was a place to go, hang out with friends, be a hero!
There were many kinds of games from classic arcades to driving simulation games to dancing and rhythm games.
Gamers from the 1980s are not in their 30s, 40s or 50s and they keep coming, playing those games from the past and thats great because it means we can all stop in and experience arcades games like we did as kids.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Kiyomizu Kannon-do〜
In 1868, a massive battle took place on the grounds of Kaneiji Temple between the armies of the Tokugawa shogunate and the Satsuma-Choshu Alliance, who supported the restoration of imperial rule. The outcome of this battle was twofold. Firstly, the Tokugawa forces were defeated, leading to the end of the Tokugawa shogunate and the beginning of the Meiji period. Secondly, many of the temple’s building were destroyed, leaving behind only a few original structures dating back to 1625.
One of the structures that survived the battle and was carefully preserved is the Kiyomizu Kannondo. Now on the re-purposed grounds of Ueno Park, formerly of Kaneiji Temple, visitors can see its architecture which dates back to 1631. In terms of its design, those who have been to Kyoto will see its resemblance to Kiyomizudera temple. Part of its uniqueness is a wooden balcony which extends over the hillside. This is particularly lovely spot as it has vantage views over the 1,000 cherry blossom tree-lined main walkway of Ueno Park.
