The American Sign Museum - Cincinnati, Ohio
Located in Cincinnati, Ohio
What is the American Sign Museum?
The American Sign Museum is dedicated to the art and history of signs and sign making. The museum is proud to be the largest public museum dedicated to signs in the United States! Covering more than 100 years of American sign history in 20,000 square feet of indoor space, the museum is a walk through the ages of sign technologies and designs. Some signs, still in their original shipping crates, remain pristine. Others proudly retain a weathered look. The storefront-laden Signs on Main Street display recreates a typical Main Street Any-Town USA, with shop windows full of sign-related artifacts. Current sign artisans have added to Main Street's look by creating distressed signs to reflect the time period. See if you can tell which signs are which! Look for the revolving sign with its actual bullet hole. Don't miss the Burma Shave sign sequence up above. Enjoy a full-size, reassembled, Mail Pouch barn sign in a room filled with local Cincinnati signs.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Cincinnati
Well worth a visit in Cincinnati is the Underground Railroad. The exhibits start as you enter and then continued on each of the three floors:
Continue the Journey - Carolyn Manto
Chained Feet - Thom Shaw
Freedom - Wyatt L. Gragg - Mama said: “Go ... it’s our time to be free, too!” With those words, this young boy and his conductor began their trip on the Underground Railroad.
The eternal flame is representative of the candles that were placed in the windows of Underground Railroad operators.

The 6 by 9m two-story log slave pen was built in 1830. By 2003, it was the only known surviving rural slave jail, previously used to house slaves prior to their being shipped to auction.
Journeys I and II Textile artwork by Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson
One of the museum's key attractions is a walk-through exhibit documenting the rise and fall of the slave trade in the United States and North America.

Presidential Airplanes at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Museum
Curious about the interior of Air Force One? Join me at the official museum of the US Air Force located at the Wright Patterson base near Dayton Ohio.
We take a look at these airborne command centers for one of the most powerful officials in the world. The aircraft on in the Presidential Gallery tell the story of aviation advancement. When the president is on board, they arguably become the most important aircraft in the world and adopt the call sign “Air Force One.”
We tour four of the planes including aircraft used by Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower as well as the Boeing VC-137C, which was used by eight presidents -- Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Clinton. Three volunteers at the museum served on that plane, one as a pilot. Poignantly, this is the same aircraft which brought President Kennedy's body back to Washington after his assassination in Dallas.

Cincinnati is a city in Ohio, on the Ohio River. The Over-the-Rhine district is known for its 19th-century architecture, including Findlay Market, which has food and craft vendors. To the north is the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The Cincinnati Museum Center encompasses history, science and children's museums in the art deco Union Terminal. Works spanning 6,000 years are on display at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Cincinnati is Ohio's third largest city and the largest metro region. It lies on the north bank of the Ohio River in Southwest Ohio in the United States of America. Known as the Queen City or Queen of the West, Cincinnati was the only 19th century American city that left a favorable impression on the then 30-year-old English author Charles Dickens. “Cincinnati is a beautiful city; cheerful, thriving, and animated,” Dickens wrote in “American Notes.” “I have not often seen a place that commends itself so favorably and pleasantly to a stranger at the first glance as this does: with its clean houses of red and white, its well-paved roads, and foot-ways of bright tile. Nor does it become less prepossessing on a closer acquaintance.”
Avondale is a primarily residential urban neighborhood near the center of the city, notable for the presence of the Cincinnati Zoo.
Hyde Park is an upscale, largely white and upper class residential neighborhood. Mt. Adams is a trendy, upscale neighborhood located directly northeast of downtown Cincinnati. Clifton, not to be confused with a nearby Clifton Heights, is also located near the city center. Mt. Washington is an up and coming economically diverse neighborhood located on Cincinnati's east side.
Northside is an economically and racially diverse neighborhood notable for a strong sense of community investment and pride. Oakley is an up and coming neighborhood that borders Hyde Park. ver-the-Rhine (OTR) is the city's historic district. Price Hill is one of Cincinnati’s oldest neighborhoods, first settled in 1789 and named Price Hill in the 1870s after General Rees Price. West End the little bit that survived of this once large densely populated neighborhood would not be notable for travelers except for the Dayton Street Historic District. Riverfront/The Banks This is a newly developed area in downtown Cincinnati that falls between Great American Ballpark home of the Reds. Newport and Covington Though these neighborhoods are actually across the river in Kentucky.

A1C Pitsenbarger Honored by Hometown
Arriving in Vietnam in August 1965, Pitsenbarger completed more than 250 missions, including one in which he hung from an HH-43's cable to rescue a wounded South Vietnamese soldier from a burning minefield. This action earned him the Airman's Medal and the Republic of Vietnam's Medal of Military Merit and Gallantry Cross with Bronze Palm.
William H. Pitsenbarger was only 21 years old when he was killed in action. But in his short life and valorous Air Force career, he was an example of dedication, compassion and tenacity for all those with whom he served. In his work, and especially on his final mission, Airman 1st Class Pitsenbarger embodied the pararescueman's motto: That Others May Live.
This story takes viewers to his hometown of Piqua, Ohio.
