2019 Saxifraga fortunei in Amida-ji Temple Kyoto Japan

Kochidani-komyozan or Amidaji Temple in Kyoto!
The temple belongs to the Pure Land or Jodoshu sect of Buddhism, crowned with the mountain name of Kochidani-komyozan.
The high priest Tanzei established the temple in 1609 as a training hall for sutra chanting. The priest was born in present day Aichi prefecture and entered the priesthood at the age of 9. He journeyed during his training before he settled down here. The priest became a Buddha in his own body (starved himself to death) in 1613 at the age of 63. His mummified body remains, now deified, were placed in a stone coffin and enshrined even today in the founder's cave in the far back of the main hall.
The statue of priest Tanzei is said to have been created by the priest himself using his own hair and is referred to as the reverend statue with hair. It is placed in the main hall as the principal deity. The sitting statue of Amitabha Tathagata (Important Cultural Asset) is enshrined in the main hall, too.
The priest's personal belongings are exhibited in the temple's treasure house along with invaluable items donated by Imperial relatives.
A stone cavern called Chozen-kutsu is located on the top of the mountain in the back, where the high priest Chozen is said to have practiced sitting meditation. The priest Chozen came to this temple as he deeply admired the virtuous priest Tanzei.
Amida Sutra Recitation, Nishi Hongan-ji Style, By Michiko, For Obaa-chan, 'Arigato!'
お経 Okyo: Japanese Buddhist Sutra, Nishi Hongan-ji style.
Hello -^^-
This is my newly established daily routine after Obaa-chan passed away in March. At first it was a neccesity, but now it is something I want to do, I learnt this rythm from her, which is a Nishi Hongan-ji (西本願寺) rythm. I believe that there is no 'correct' way because each sect has its own rythm. I only wished I had sat down more with her and learnt the proper rythm of my household.
As a result, I tried to recall her chanting in my mind and I did my very best. Took me more than 2 months of practising on my own to get here to this point. It is still not perfect as I'd mispronounced a couple of words. For example, 'Zo' for 'So' hehe~ I keep throwing out, or ADDING in the two squiggly things at the top, which makes a hard, or soft sound! I'm soooo sorry -^^-
Budhist Chanting:-
From me to you, obaa-chan... 'Arigato!!!' Rest In Peace, sleep well. I hope you can hear in the background our pets, Snowy the dog chasing and playing with Furby and Mikke the cats. They miss you, too!
Dear Friends, thank you for being here, I truly appreciateit!
As Always

Kochidani Amida Temple in Kyoto|Japan Travel Guide|
Kochidani Amida Temple in Kyoto,Japan.

【Nishi Hongan-Ji Temple】
Nishi Hongan-ji Temple is a Jodo Shinshu buddhist temple in the Shimogyo ward of Kyoto, Japan.
It is one of two Jodo Shinshu temple complexes in Kyoto, the other being Higashi Hongan-ji Temple. Jodo Shinshu is a school of Pure Land Buddhism, and today Nishi Hongan-ji Temple serves as the head temple of the organization.
Established in its current location in 1591, the origin of the temple goes back to the 14th century. Many of its building have survived from the Azuchi-Momoyama and early Edo period, making it a great example of the architecture from that period. A total of seven Nishi Hongan-ji Temple structures have been designated National Treasures in three different categories: the karamon, Goeido and Amida hall (temple buildings), the Flying Cloud Pavilion, shoin and the Black study hall, including the Denrō gallery (residences) and the north Noh stage (miscellaneous structure).
Nishi Hongan-ji Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, since 1994.

Nembutsu-Ji Temple at Adashino near Kyoto
This Temple is said have been founded by Kukai (Kobo daishi, 774-835) who was a priest and also a founder of the Shingon Sect in Buddhism. In the precinct of this temple there are about eight thousand (8.000!) stones of Buddha. Originally they were made as gravestones for the dead who were buried in the Adashino area from the Heain period (793-1183) to the Edo Period (1615-1868).
Visting this Temple was very impressive and unforgettable. This is really special and I can recommend everybody who visits Kyoto to go to Adashino and visit this very remarkable place.
Also the bamboo forest on the same complex is really very beautiful and worth visiting.

Chion-in temple in Kyoto, Japan! March 2011
Located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto, Chion-in is connected to Hōnen (1133-1212), the founder of the Jōdo Shū (Pure Land Sect) of Buddhism. It was here at Chion-in that Hōnen taught chanting the name of Amida (Sanskrit: Amitabha) to attain salvation, and it was here that he spent his final years. Today, with over 7,000 temples, the teachings of Hōnen have spread throughout Japan. Since 1523, Chion-in has been the head temple of the Jōdo Shū.

Ushi (Ox) festival is a Buddhist festival at the Koryuji temple in Kyoto. The Matarajin deity 摩多羅神 dressed in white appears from darkness riding on a black ox. He climbs onto the stage in front of the temple accompanied by four oni. All of them wear paper masks. Matarajin starts reading prayers. The mantra is very long with a deliberate slowness. The oni and audience try to disturb reading. Nobody have any idea what it means. If Matarajin makes a mistake, he has to read it all over again. Finally, Matarajin
and the oni run down the stage and rush into the temple.
Ushi festival of Koryuji has many unusual aspects, alien to the typical festivals of either a Buddhist temple or a Shinto shrine. The central figure of this drama, the Matarajin deity, which was introduced to Japan from China by the Tendai Buddhist priest Ennin (794-864) as a protector of the Amida Sutra. Ennin initiated the worship of Amida Buddha. Madarajin was later adopted by the Buddhist priest Genshin (942-1017) as the tutelary deity of the practice of nenbutsu - the chanting of and meditating on the name of Amida in order to rebirth into the Pure Land.
Kōryū-ji is renowned for its wooden carving of Miroku Bosatsu (Buddha of the Future). It is believed that, far in the future, Miroku Bodhisattva will become a Buddha, and then appear on earth to save those unable to achieve enlightenment, thus bringing universal salvation to all sentient beings. Many scholars have recognized the congruence between the Amida faith and Christian salvation, and some have posited an actual historical connection. John B. Cobb Jr. b 1925, an American theologian writes: “To say that Amida is Christ and Christ is Amida is to say that Buddhists have come to know Wisdom and Compassion as Amida and Christians as Christ.”

Joururiji (Joruriji) temple in Kyoto - Seek the Buddhist Heaven - Japan Trip -
Joururiji ( Joruriji ) temple is a small but beautiful Buddhist temple.
The temple is situated on the border of Kyoto and Nara prefecture. It is generally quiet with few tourists because there is no major tourist spots around it within a walking distance.
It takes some time to get there, but I think the temple is worth visiting if you have time in Japan.
In this video, let's see the national treasure buildings of the temple and find the hidden meaning of these buildings together.
The best feature of this temple is the 9 images of Amida Buddha in a main hall. But It is NOT allowed to shoot a video inside the hall, so if you're interested, why don't you go there or google it?
Thanks.
(4K) Hydrangea At Hakone Amida-ji Temple & Mountain Railways(UHD)
