Lochan Uaine in Glenmore Forest

Lochan Uaine is Gaelic and means the Small green lake. It is located in the Cairngorms National Park and it takes about an hour to walk to the lochan. Especially attractive on a sunny day, but the green shade of the water is distinct even when it is a bit overcast.

Loch Morlich to An Lochan Uaine Cycle

Had a great wee cycle from Loch Morlich up by Glenmore Lodge to
An Lochan Uaine (Gaelic for Am locking you in I think) which is a pretty strange wee lochan that goes green when the sun shines.

Lochan Uaine Hike and Camp, Scotland, 2016

Driving from Edinburgh to Loch Ness I decided to stop and solo camp in the Cairngorms National Park for a night. This is my short 7 mile hike out to camp nearby Loch Uaine. It was a great little walk and camp.

When I arrived at the loch I found out that my gas stove fitting didn't fit the gas containers I had bought so I only had muesli bars and fruit for dinner. I did try a bit of fishing but didn't have any luck. I noticed a little bit of movement in the water in the late evening but couldn't say for sure whether there where fish in there or not.

Sadly, I didn't get any shots of the actual campsite as it was set up under duress of heavy heavy midge attack in the dark and in the morning I packed up as soon as I rose and only thought of photographs afterwards.

The video quality is terrible but my newer videos are better.. I think.

Climbers on Sticil Face, Cairngorms, Loch Avon Basin

One of the wildest and most dramatic areas in Europe never mind the UK. The 1,000 foot granite cliffs are situated deep within the Loch Avon basin. This glacier carved cirque lies within the arctic alpine mountain plateau of the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland.
