Franciscan Estate Winery - St. Helena, California
Franciscan Estate Winery was founded in 1972 by a group of lawyers and doctors from San Francisco who decided to try turning their passion for wine into a business. To read my review of the winery and the wines see the link below:
Silverado Vineyards - Stags Leap, Napa Valley
In the heart of Napa Valley's Stags Leap District sits a rocky peak with a spectacular Mediterranean-style stone winery perched on top. That winery is the iconic Silverado Vineyards, named after the abandoned mining town at the north end of the Napa Valley. Silverado Vineyards is best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, but Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and small batches of Zinfandel and Sangiovese are also grown on their six estate vineyards. Robert Mondavi Winery - Oakville, California
Robert Mondavi Winery was founded in 1966 by Robert Mondavi (June 18, 1913 -- May 16, 2008) and his sons Michael and Tim Mondavi in the Napa Valley. It was the first major winery built in Napa Valley in the post-Prohibition era. He went on to become THE most influential innovator in California winemaking history. On December 22, 2004, Constellation Brands acquired the Mondavi winery and yet they continue to further Robert Mondavi's legacy. VEGAS BABY! FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCE. ETHEL M CHOCOLATE FACTORY TOUR-EP64
Long time friends coming to visit your full-time RVing life is a precious gift! Missing the love, connection and conversation with life long friends while on the road is THE most negative part of our nomadic life. We LOVE all the NEW people we get to meet and do things with for the weeks or months we have together at various stops. But the “friends back home” still hold many “keys to your heart. We were graced this year with not one, but FOUR one week plus visits.
It started with friends we met on the road in the Cypress Trail RV Resort. Mike and Betty traveled to the San Diego area in January 2019, and in episode #52 we take a biking tour of the Mission Bay Bike Path and Beach area.
Marcia was second up at bat in February 2019, traveling to Palm Springs, CA in episode #59. We immersed ourselves in the history and culture of the Palm Springs area for the entire week.
A few weeks later, in March 2019, Brian & Linda met us in Las Vegas NV, and we immediately hit the obligatory Hoover Dam Tour in episode #61!
Episode #62 finds us all hiking and touring the Red Rock Canyon area.
Episode #63 takes you with us on a 34 mile electric bike ride around the Henderson NV area River Mountain Bike loop.
Episode #64 (“VEGAS BABY”) FINALLY has us hitting the strip, in a Mustang convertible, and walking around like the tourists we truly are. The next day, we meet up with Maureen,.... becoming the fourth “special” friend that traveled into town for over a week.
Sue & I would like you to know how honored we feel to have had Betty, Mike, Marcia, Linda, Brian and Maureen take the time, money, and effort to come visit us. We are lucky to have friends like you…………..

4 THINGS TO DO IN NAPA VALLEY WHEN IT RAINS - Daily Vlog, Ep. 18
When it's a little rainy, cloudy or cold - here's your list of things to do in Napa Valley.
______________________________
It's not all that often that the weather isn't just perfection in Napa Valley, but we do have the occasional rainy, cloudy, or even cold day. When I woke up to a light drizzle and some cloudy skies, it got me thinking it would be a great opportunity to show you some of my favorite things to do when it rains. The truth is, even when it is a little gloomy, Napa Valley is still really beautiful and there are a ton of things to do that you might not have done otherwise.
The Cameo Cinema in St. Helena is the country's oldest, continuously operating single screen theatre in the entire country - and it's the perfect place to visit when in-climate weather is at play. Don't be fooled by the old-school marquee and exterior. With the help of some charitable donors, Cathy Buck transformed this old space into a jewel box complete with a state of the art projection system and the dolby atmos sound system. The single screen rotates between brand new studio features and independent art-house films that will keep even the most serious movie buff happy. Cathy does an incredible job of curating the films and even offers film classes, sneak-peak screenings, and special events for the community. Enjoy your flick with some fresh popcorn (with REAL BUTTER) and a glass of wine- this is Napa Valley after all.
Speaking of wine, head down the street to the beautiful stone building behind the A&W which Davies Vineyards is calling home for their red-wine operation. You might already be familiar with their Schramsberg sparkling wines which are served here alongside their estate Pinot Noir's and Cabernet Sauvignon's. Curl up beside one of the fireplaces and relax on one of the sofa while it pours outside - I promise everything will be better.
My guess is you'll be pretty hungry by now so it's time for a little lunch. Like a rainy day in Paris, it feels pretty darn perfect to be in a nice warm bistro eating a croque madame and French comfort food. I recommend seeking refuge at Bouchon Bistro in Yountville. Have a 1/2 carafe of wine and the boudin blanc for the ultimate comfort experience. Stay for a few hours and feel European, you'll thank me later.
When your long lunch leads you to dinner, there can only be one spot that suits all of your needs - PRESS Restaurant in St. Helena. Fireplaces and heat lamps outside, blankets if you need them, the full menu served plus a wine list that will keep you occupied and hydrated for hours - what more do you need?! Sit back and listen to the rain as you savor the Brian Flannery Ribeye cooked over cherry and almond wood.
