Hidden Chinese Market in Shanghai
This was filmed when I was still living in Shanghai. There was a big Chinese market right next to my apartment, but it was hidden. I took me a year before I found out about this secret farmers market. An amazing market that sells fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and everything you might need.
I know it's not the most exciting video, but I was really happy to discover this so I had to share.

Chinese Pet Shops Shanghai China
Tour the side streets in Shanghai China and you'll discover all kinds of interesting sights including little shops selling pets for apartment living. The pets in Shanghai China include crickets, budgies, mice, fish, and turtles. Crickets are kept because of their singing. Some crickets are breed for cricket fights.
You may, or may not, approve of keeping pets like this... that is for you to decide. Cricket fighting dates back to the 12th century and these photos are just of snapshot of real life in Shanghai China 2013.
A Visit to the Shanghai Animal Market
The Chinese animal market is amazing & although I don't condone what I saw, I do invite you to see it too. The stores are cramped together in a phantasmagoria of an urban zoo-like experience; and don't forget the crickets, good luck charms for Chinese homes...and used for betting fights. The market is abuzz with a hive of activity—squeaks and squawks sounding over a constant cricket drone (check the tiny straw baskets)—with hawkers selling animals and paraphernalia of all variety, from aquatic plants for your fish tank to rabbits to turtles too. Hang in there for the ending of a cute tame rodent (don't know what kind) that likes to be held and petted, though I was expecting a nip at anytime to happen.
