ANTIGUA FREE WALKING TOUR | Best coffee in Antigua, Guatemala
As I learned on my Antigua Free Walking Tour, most Guatemalans don't consider Antigua to be a part of Guatemala - even though it is, of course. I also found the best coffee in Antigua.
Antigua, Guatemala used to pretty much be the capital of Central America. It's also the perfect place to stay during your travel to Guatemala. Here are some of the sights in the city and other things to do in Antigua, Guatemala!
Food and drink are fairly inexpensive here, as you might expect. But if you decide to get a coffee in Antigua's Central Park, expect to pay for it! My favorite coffee was at Cafe Barista. Now, I'm sure there's FAR better coffee at a plantation, but this is the best I had of all the coffee I tried in the shops.
Don't hate me if there's a better brew. I'm sure there is. ☕????
Backpackers and other travelers on a budget would do well to walk a little farther from the city center to the local cafes and coffee houses. Even some of the local hostels have excellent food and you can eat a full meal (sometimes too much food) for $5-6 USD or less.

AMAZING Guatemalan STREET FOOD + Antigua Walking Tour | Antigua, Guatemala
On my third day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we explored Antigua's main attractions and we ate some amazing Guatemalan street food!

We started our exploration of Antigua by walking through the historical center of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua. We first saw La Carmen Convent ruins, then we went to La Perla to have a quick espresso and then we visited La Merced Church.
From there we made our way across the city and stopped at Santa Catalina Arch which is the icon of Antigua. It's a a 15 century arch built to help the nuns cross from the convent to a school. Next up we saw the Antigua Cathedral ruins. It was destroyed during an earthquake in the year 1773.
We then made a quick stop at La Casa del Ron and tried some amazing Zacapa rums. We tried Zacapa 23, Zacapa Negro and we tried a Colonial rum which is an artisan rum made by the Zacapa brand.
To end the night we headed to the public laundry square and there, there is a lady selling amazing Guatemalan street food. I tried four different things:
-Chuchitos
-Alot del Elote
-Rellenitos de Platano
-Tostada de Ensalada de Pollo
Each thing was amazing and I highly recommend visiting that lady when you head to Antigua. She gets there around 5:30pm.
Next time you head to Guatemala I recommend working with my friends at A La Carta Tours:

On my third day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we headed out on an UNREAL food tour of Antigua!

I started by having a delicious breakfast at the Real Intercontinental Guatemala and some fantastic coffee. From their we drove one hour south to Antigua. We partnered up with A La Carta Tours and Antigua Rides to give us this unreal food tour of Antigua.
We started by heading to the neighborhood of San Juan del Obispo. Their we saw a 15th century church and had some Chuchitos (Guatemalan version of Tamales). They were spicy and delicious!
Next up we entered Chocolateria Antigua to see how they turn Cacao into chocolate bars. We then tried 13 different chocolates. They were all so good! I had to buy myself some.
From their we walked down the street to El Abuelo del Vino which is a fruit fermenting factory. They ferment over 40 different fruits and turn them into fruit wine. We saw the process and tried a dozen very strong wines!
After that we drove across town to Cerro de la Cruz to get an incredible view over the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Antigua. To end the tour we hit up La Cuevita de los Urquizu to have a truly unique Guatemalan meal. When you visit Antigua you have to eat here!
Next time you head to Guatemala I recommend working with my friends at A La Carta Tours: and Antigua Rides

Travel Guide to Antigua/Guatemala
In this Guatemala and Antigua travel video guide, I head down to Guatemala and explore scenic Antigua, hike Volcano Pacaya, take a road trip to Lake Atitlan (and ride a horse along its banks), then head north to Tikal, home to the capital of the once mighty Mayan Empire, where I climb the many temples that have been discovered at the site.

Antigua Guatemala, qué hacer y cómo llegar a Guatemala
Acompáñanos a descubrir qué hacer y cómo llegar a Antigua Guatemala, la ciudad colonial más fotogénica de Guate. Continúa leyendo la descripción del video para obtener más información acerca de precios, lugares y actividades que mencionamos en el video.
-Cómo llegar a Antigua Guatemala
Si quieres conseguir vuelos baratos consulta nuestro blog:
Entrada: 40 quetzales turista extranjero

ANTIGUA GUATEMALA: A tour around the city
Antigua Guatemala was a last-minute addition to our time in Guatemala. We are SO glad to have made the detour - especially during the week before holy week. The city was full of processions, sawdust carpets, and celebrations.
We had a charming Airbnb in the heart of all the action. Just down the street from El Cerro de la Cruz, three blocks from Parque Central and we were surrounded by many stunning ruins and historical buildings, including the Antigua Guatemala Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Joseph d' Antigua Guatemala).
In this video, we're walking about the city of Antigua.

“Let’s go” has pretty much been our life’s motto since we met nearly 25 years ago. We met in New York, moved to San Diego together, and married in Lake Tahoe – all within five months. When you know, you know – you know what we mean?
Now, after raising two adventure-seeking boys, we are ready to get out and explore some more. Our children have begun their lives and now it’s time to begin the second-half of ours.
We wanted a challenge and something fun, so we are starting an adventure of a lifetime. We’re calling it #60×60. Our plan is to travel to 60 countries by the time Kim turns 60 (that’s in 6 years by the way).

Antigua Guatemala 2019 - Antigua Guatemala Things to Do
Today we head from Guatemala city to Antigua Guatemala 2019. This is another one of our stops for Central America travel. Join us as we enjoy Antigua Guatemala. Antigua is our second leg after arriving in Guatemala City a couple of days prior. This Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala trip is a birthday gift and trip for my girlfriend. I knew Antigua Guatemala would be nice, but it was way more than that. I can't tell you how many times we said, Oh my God, I love this city. Guatemala City was nice, but Antigua was incredible. Lots to do, great food and live music to top it off. Visiting Antigua has been my best choice for a trip. Antigua Guatemala City should be at the top of everyone's list. Visiting Guatemala and visiting Antigua Guatemala is a must if choosing a place to visit in Central or South America. There are plenty of things to do in Antigua Guatemala, from nightlife, nature, shopping and short trips to other smaller towns. And of course Lake Atitlan Guatemala. Lake Atitlan should be your second stop when visiting Antigua Guatemala. And Antigua Guatemala nightlife was off the chain; at least in Antigua. Antigua Guatemala 2019 will be a trip that we never forget. This is truly our best trip ever.
You'll be treated to a little action from Fuego volcano. Lot's of action. Guatemala City 2019, again, was great; but Antigua was AWESOME. Visiting Antigua Guatemala, Antigua Guatemala and Lake Atitlan are my top three to do recommendations. Antigua guatemala hotels are mostly basic, but you can find some true gems as well. Such as the hotel we had on our return to the city. Visiting Guatemala City should be your first stop, but then, on to Antigua at only a $22 average Uber ride. Guatemala City to Antigua took us about an hour and there are two sides of one main highway. Each going one direction. Makes for safe travel through the mountains. Travel Guatemala people! Guatemala travel is easy too. For us, we had only one flight from Houston. Travel Guatemala City first since this is where you'll more than likely land in the country. Living in Guatemala is actually something we're looking into. Being an expat is a dream for us down the road. The food in Guatemala was incredible. We voted Guatemala our best food trip. The Guatemalan food was pretty good. I'm not as adventurous as my girlfriend, but I'll try anything once.

FUNDRAISING FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE VOLCAN DE FUEGO ERUPTION NEAR ANTIGUA IN JUNE OF 2018:
Antigua is a beautiful colonial town that is easily accessible from Guatemala City. We flew from Mexico City to Guatemala City, and from there it is a 1 hour drive to downtown Antigua.
This trip might surprise some of my Mexican viewers, as we have been making videos in Mexico for the past 6 months. But don't worry, after the Guatemala trip we will soon be back in Mexico for more travel adventures. Watch the video to find out more :)

We visited the Casa del jade antigua guatemala and made a couple of purchases. Our hotel was Casa Encantada Antigua Guatemala. Please see the videos to see how absolutely beautiful it was. It also included breakfast from the terrace. The Antigua Guatemala walking tour was great, which we were allowed to meet the new Vice Mayor and visiting the jade museum.
