Travel guide: Apo island and Siquijor, Philippines!
Finally got to explore the beautiful Siquijor and Apo island near Dumaguete, Philippines!
As you all know, i'm a total island girl. I'm at my happiest when I'm surrounded by bodies of water and I make sure that my skin; especially my face is well protected from harmful UV rays with Belo tinted sunscreen when I do island activities. To me, this is the best everyday, go-to make-up for a traveler girl like me especially that I no longer need to buy a foundation. I just apply my Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen, put a bit of blush on for that beachy vibe and voila! Ready to rampa!

Apo Reef The Second Largest Coral Reef System in The World
Apo Reef The Second Largest Coral Reef System in the World!
Our next destination is the second largest contiguous reef in the world- Apo Reef. We took a ferry from Batangas port to Abra de Ilog and traveled about 3-4 hours by van to Sablayan port before embarking another 2 hours of boat ride to Apo Reef. This time, we were with Explore Occidental Mindoro Travel and Tours which made sure we had a smooth sailing trip. They have a big spacious boat and the food they serve is so delicious. For our first day of the trip, we camped in the island. To see the underwater beauty of Apo Reef and the magnificent views of Apo Reef Natural Park, watch our full video in HD.

Apo Island, Paradise In The Philippines
Apo Island is a volcanic island covering 74 hectares in land area, 7 kilometers off the southeastern tip of Negros Island and 30 kilometers south of the Negros Oriental capital of Dumaguete in the Philippines. The name Apo was derived from a Filipino word for grandchild.
The marine habitat around the island is a marine reserve, protected by the National Integrated Protected Area Act (NIPA) and under the jurisdiction of the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB). It has become a popular dive site and snorkeling destination with tourists. There are two resorts on Apo Island, each with a dive center: Apo Island Beach Resort and Liberty's Lodge. There is also a ranger station and a lighthouse.
The island is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Dauin, Negros Oriental, and is one of the municipality's 23 barangays. As of the 2010 census, the island has a population of 918.

Apo Island of Dauin, Negros Orietal, Philippines
Apo Island is considered to be part of the jurisdiction of the town of Dauin in Negros Oriental. Its pride is its fantastic rock formations scattered over the terrain, a protected marine reserve, magnificent white sands and a relatively untouched endowment of natural marine resources -- 650 documented fish species and 400 kinds of corals.
Apo Island is one of the top ten dive sites in the country and around the world. It can be accessed via a 30-minute boat ride from the neighboring town of Zamboangita or anywhere near the coastline of Zamboangita.
Package tours can be found in Dumaguete dive shops and beach resorts. You can opt for a one-day adventure or stay nights at nearby hotels and beach resorts, some of which are the Liberty's Lodge or Apo Island Beach Resto on the island itself or Coco Grove, Kan-Upi Beach Resort or the Wellness Beach Resort in nearby Zamboangita.
Life in this island is said to have its own pace. Perhaps this is where time has stood still -- in the primitive and wild beauty that it is most famous for.
The underwater scene is even more fantastic! You can snorkel, scuba or deep sea dive in as much as 15 pre identified points around the island. Other activities include island boat rides, treks and bike rides.
Apo Island is sure to fascinate every diver's and traveler's imagination -- from the unique aquatic habitat and its dwellers, the rustic view of an old lighthouse, the image of a sunset tinting the sky with pink to the magical feel of white sand on your toes while having a cool drink on a night of the full moon.
For one who appreciates the genuine wonders of nature, Apo Island is beyond doubt a soothing balm to the soul.
Apo Island Fiesta 2018 v2
It doesn't take much for the people of this beautiful island to start a party going... but during the fiesta (give or take a few days before April 4 and a few days after April 5) the island is abuzz with activities, dance and colourful decorations.
LOVE Apo Island ????????| Dauin | from Siquijor | Philippines
This week we travel from Siquijor to Apo Island. For a day trip only, but yet it’s enough to impress ;) Keep on reading for all the places I visited! All information is to be found down below.

--TOUR TO APO ISLAND--
Was arranged through Coco Grove.
From my hotel (Garden Bungalows resort) they called to Coco Grove. Because the tour is busy, they want you to pass by the resort and confirm (pay) your booking the day before. Don’t forget to do so! Or they might give your spot to someone else…
Price when I visited: just under 1900 pesos per person, including lunch. Excluding transport to Coco Grove on Siquijor where the tour starts.
You need to be there 7.30 in the morning, or 7.00 if you want breakfast here first. Breakfast is quite nice here! And big, it will definitely get you full till lunch ;)
You can also reach Apo Island from Dumaguete or Dauin, which is actually a shorter boatride. What I liked about Coco Grove is that they have a resort on the island, where you have your lunch. It’s a secluded little beach, perfect to relax for an our or so!
--SLEEP IN SIQUIJOR OR APO ISLAND--
►Coco Grove -
There are quite a lot of resorts and hotels, small and big. Most suggested online is Coco Grove. I haven’t slept here, but my tour to Apo island was organized through this place. It looked great! Really good. You won’t be disappointed staying here I am sure. Though for my taste maybe a bit big, which is why I stayed in the place down below.
►Garden Bungalows Resort -
I loved this place! If you want something more personal, go for Garden Bungalows. A resort with 4 places only, and a pool in between. Of course situated in a lovely garden. The owner and members of the resort took me (and other guests) to some amazing places, I wouldn’t have found myself! You can arrange motorcycles and a tour over the island with them as well.
► Apo Island
There are a few homestays on the island, if you’re on a budget.
The resort linked to Coco Grove is this one:
And then there’s this one as well:
--EAT IN SIQUIJOR--
►Ustory
Quiet, at the beach, romantic. Very good choice. Eat here at least one night.
►Saki
Japanese restaurant up the hill. Hidden gem! They also have rooms for rent.
Eat here at least one night ;)

--TEXT IN THE VIDEO--
This teeny tiny little heaven over here is Apo Island. Easily reached from Dumaguete, but today we’ll go from Siquijor. Starting our journey early in the morning, at Coco Grove.
Apo island is a small community, with less than a thousand inhabitants. It’s best known for being a Marine Sanctuary, the second oldest in the entire country. Protecting the wonders under the surface since 1985, this place served as an example for hundreds of other sanctuaries throughout the Philippines.
There are too many good reefs here to see on just one day trip. Because the whole area is basically full of them!
And because swimming makes you hungry, we get head back to a little hidden lagoon. Just enjoy the crystal blue waters and fine sand, with a good plate of food!
Back on the shore, there is an other surprise for us. Cause the owner of our hotel takes us to this little hidden gem up the hill. Great to experience sunset over the island. And if you’re up for some funky drinks..!

The Philippine Islands is one of the best places in the world to go scuba diving and wreck diving! With scuba diving, you get to marvel at the Philippine biodiversity in the ocean, with lots of marine animals to meet, even rare whale sharks if you got lucky while traveling here! With wreck diving, you get to explore some of the remnants of the war at the seafloor, with a lot of shipwrecks scattered!
Whatever your preferences are, your Philippines travel will be completed with these underwater adventures, all you need is an underwater camera to capture every moment of your travel in the Philippines!
We're in the Southern Negros, near Dumaguete City, Apo Island, Siquijor Island and Cebu.
There's a bunch of dive resorts here. You can see Apo Island behind me. Some of the best diving in the Philippines is off Apo Island because of the currents that go right by there. There are lots of nutrients for the fish.
Looking over that way, you can just see off in the distance there, that's Siquijor Island, another beautiful spot for diving. There's a bunch of new dive resorts starting up there.
And of course, right in front of me, Apo Island.
It's a really nice spot. It's nice and fresh and clean here. It's a great place to come and visit.
Another great place is Badladz at Puerto Galera!
