Sea Kayaking around Castle Stalker and Shuna Island
Using a Drift HD Ghost video camera mounted onto the bow of my sea kayak, this is my first video of a day out on Loch Linnhe from Port Appin. It was also my wife's birthday and the clear, crisp, sunny weather made for a great day out!

Dinghy Cruising - Lake Manapouri NZ
This video shows an overnight sailing mission on Lake Manapouri in a Welsford Navigator. Manapouri, part of the Te Wahi Pounamu World Heritage Area, is New Zealand's second deepest lake. It's glacial history has left steep sides and hundreds of rounded granite islands to explore.
Good cruising notes for Manapouri can be found on the Otago Trailer Yacht Squadron website sporty.co.nz/OTYS/Cruising-1/Cruising-Guides# and
While waiting for the wind to ease on Day 1, we set off from the public boat ramp in Pearl Harbor and spent several hours sailing down the Waiau River to the dam. We then motored back up to the lake and poked our nose around Stoney Point, but the open part of the lake was rough and it was getting late, so we retreated and found good hammock camping at the head of Surprise Bay.
Next morning we motored around Stoney Point to Holmwood Island and paddled through the narrow gap into the island's amazing lagoon. Then we explored the islands and reefs from there to Mahara Island before landing for lunch and a swim on a mainland beach in Circle Cove. It was an open fire season, so Squirt lit the Firebox stove to make a drink.
By early afternoon we had some gentle sailing in light airs. As we headed back, a local tour boat passed us at full steam and literally left us in their wake. We guess that's because Tusk under sail is such a fine sight. The wind then picked up from the NW, giving us a fast run over the last couple of kilometres to the river mouth and Pearl Harbour.

Wild Swimming Castle Stalker | Openwater Wild Swimming in Scotland
A shallow openwater wild swim around Castle Stalker in relatively sheltered waters, best done close to high water for obvious reasons.
Parking restrictions on the north shore make it difficult to leave from where the tourist boat leaves. The swim can easily be shortened by cutting the visit to the mainland, or made longer by starting / ending in Port Appin and walking one way.

Dinghy cruising a Welsford 'navigator' in sunny Salcombe
Welcome to my channel about dinghy cruising a John Welsford designed 'navigator' standing lug sail yawl called Arwen. In this video, episode 2, we explore the lower reaches of the estuary.
Other videos on my channel cover my developing skills in dinghy cruising and maintaining a small open boat along the coastal waters and rivers of SW England. I post at least one video or blog post a fortnight. Follow Arwen's blog at arwensmeanderings.blogspot.com

Dinghy Cruising Association Hilbre Meet 2017
These are clips of a trip made by members of the Dinghy Cruising Association on the Dee Estuary and around Hilbre Island. The music is from two youtube sources: a stunning acoustic version of Mike Oldfield's Muse by Galkinart and a brilliant acoustic rendition of Sultans of Swing by Andrea Valeri. I do not own this music but I love it and would be happy if this video spread the word. In the spirit of you tube I am happy for anyone to use the images here for their own purposes.
