The Aquarium museum location is near Qaitbay fort on Alexandria's Eastern harbor. There are different species to be found out there which include a display range of fish as well as crustaceans and turtles.
The species found in the aquarium of Alexandria come from the Mediterranean and Red Seas around Egypt, and not just that, but there are also some which come from the fresh water of the Nile and the Amazon.
The Aquarium museum, Alexandria, might be a little bit small but there are lots of things to see there. It is actually divided into two different parts, the one related to the sea species which you will see while swimming, and the second part is the actual museum.
The aquarium museum prices are not high, it is for 10 EGP and you could pay more if you are willing to take photos inside.
Try always to visit this place during the working days of the week because otherwise you will find it crowded with people and you will never get the chance to read all what is written about the living species or even notice everything that is inside.
It is considered a good idea to take the kids to the aquarium museum and let them feel astonished by the living species they are going to see.
The amount of time you might spend in this museum watching those fish and getting to know more about them will not exceed 20 minutes, which is considered enough for such a small place.
It might be improved because some of the tanks found out there don't give much space for the living species out there to swim comfortably, so if you are an animal lover and understand how they should be living, you might get the chance to notice that easily, but if not, you will consider the whole thing ordinary.
This might be part of your day to the citadel and a walk by the fort, but other than that, you should never place a whole day trip for this museum because it takes no time at all and might be done through a walk from a place to another.

Alexandria Beach, Egypt - The Mediterranean Sea
Alexandria Beach, Alexandria, Egypt - Spending some time sitting by the sea while also being at one of the most famous historical attractions in this city, Qaitbay citadel (
Alexandria, Egypt, is known to be the second largest city in the country coming after the capital Cairo. Alexandria is considered a major economic center in Egypt since it is extending for about 32 kilometers along the coast of the Mediterranean sea in the north central part of the country, and it is also considered an important industrial center because of its natural gas and oil pipelines from Suez.
In the ancient times, Alexandria was considered an important place because it once held the lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, which was then destroyed by invaders and which was located in the place where the Qaitbay citadel is now found. During these ancient times of Alexander, the city of Alexandria was considered the second powerful city after Rome.
Alexandria beach is different; with the breeze that comes with the waves, people always enjoy the idea of sitting, having lunch or dinner, as well as walking by the beach to enjoy the whole theme including both the weather and the water.
Tourists always consider that swimming in the Mediterranean sea is not as good as doing that in the red sea, but there are a lot of other things to enjoy doing in Alexandria while enjoying the breeze of its sea. You should definitely visit the Qaitbay citadel which is all located on the sea, giving visitors the chance to walk through the whole place and at the end rest at the place where history meets the beautiful sea. You could also enjoy walking a couple of minutes from the citadel to the aquarium museum of Alexandria and which is also placed by the beach (
One of the most famous beaches in Alexandria is Maamoura beach (شاطىء المعمورة in Arabic) which is found in the neighborhood of Al-Maamoura in Alexandria, Egypt. Al-Maamoura beach is located east of Montaza's royal garden - which is another tourist destination and attraction in Alexandria - and which is considered one of the main attractions for tourists for its parks and beaches.
Since this is considered one of the beaches that tourists always head to and visit, it is recommended for families more than young people. The best thing about this place is that every person should rent chairs and umbrella and thus will pay entrance fees for the beach, which are 85 Egyptian pounds for every person.
Being close to Al Montazah, you could have a dip in the beach and enjoy the weather then pack your belongings and go explore the other hidden gems of Alexandria, Egypt. Al Montazah is the place where the Montazah palace built during the reign of Khedive Ismail is found, as well as some parks, and it is considered the place where lots of families visit and those wealthy families tend to have their cabins there.
Spending a couple of days in Alexandria, Egypt, is needed because it is not just about enjoying the sea breeze and the beach, but there are some historical places that one could manage to visit too. From the attractions that should be visited in addition to the Qaitbay citadel and the aquarium of Alexandria ( it is important to pass by the Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina) which was once considered the largest in the ancient world but which is now replaced by a modern one.
In addition to these initial landmarks to pass by, there are still other tourist attractions to visit in Alexandria, such as the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, Graeco-Roman Museum, Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque, Alexandria National Museum, Royal Jewelry Museum, Alexandria port, Caesareum of Alexandria, and Ras El Tin palace.
If you want to enjoy Alexandria beach in other ways than having a swim in the Maamoura or else walking through Qaitbay citadel, you could choose one of the restaurants to have your lunch or dinner at; one suggestion is the Greek Club by the port, which will give you the chance to enjoy a good meal and at the same time feel mesmerized by the view! We have already been through this before.
Egypt is one of the countries that people always place in their plan of traveling the world for the different touristic attractions it has and the amount of history it carries from different several eras. Visiting Egypt should not be about the capital Cairo only, but one should also consider visiting Alexandria ( which was one of the most powerful cities in the ancient world, and some people might also be creative and think about visiting Fayoum ( Luxor and Aswan, or go to the Read sea and visit Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh.
Alexandria is loved by Egyptians in fall and winter, but we recommend summer for tourists to avoid the rain there.
Aquarium Grotto Garden, Cairo, Egypt - El Zamalek Island
Aquarium Grotto Garden, Cairo, Egypt - There might be a beautiful aquarium to visit in Alexandria ( Egypt, although it is a small one, but when it comes to Cairo, the aquarium grotto garden is considered the only fish garden to be found in there.
The aquarium grotto garden in Cairo is found on El Zamalek island, the district with the most green areas in Cairo. The location of this aquarium garden is Gabalaya street in Zamalek and it is one of the most famous places that the old Egyptian movies used to shoot the love scenes there.
The aquarium grotto garden (حديقة الأسماك in Arabic) was opened to the public in the 19th century after it was a private property of El Khedive Ismail. This place was very famous for lovers more than a century ago but these days it started to lose its popularity.
A lot of visitors say that the garden is not the same as it used to be and that is one of the reasons why people stopped going there as much as they used to. Even though it is named the aquarium grotto, there aren't many fish found inside as one would expect, yet the place is considered a beautiful destination for a beautiful walk there.
When this garden was in the construction phase, an Italian engineer was responsible to bring something that is much like the Italian gardens and even the passages which are made from real lime can get you lost inside the place while you are trying to discover its different corners and passages.
Even though the sea species are not so many, there are rare ones which you could see inside, such as the hundred and so aged turtle that lives beside a fish which could clean its tank alone. In addition to the living sea creatures, there are also different mummified species which are placed in jars and each is written its details on the jar.
We recommend this aquarium grotto garden not only for couples, but we also recommend it for families because it could be a very good picnic place where the kids could play and ride the bicycles. It is also considered a good place in the middle of Zamalek island where there is no noise and where one could run away from the hassle of the traffic jam happening outside; you should just bring something to sit on because the chairs there need to be repaired.
This peaceful place is good for a morning walk since the working hours of the garden start at 8:30 in the morning and ends at 4:30 in the afternoon, giving people the chance to have some good time inside during the first part of the day.
The entrance fee for the aquarium grotto garden is five Egyptian pounds per person, which is considered reasonable and not expensive by any means, giving the person the chance to head there with his/her family members without worrying about the amount of money that will be paid.
The staff working in the aquarium grotto garden are very helpful and will offer all the information you might need while wandering in the place. Some of those old working staff are well aware of the different scenes being shot in the place back in the black and white Egyptian movies and could point out these locations and tell you who were the actors.
The aquarium grotto garden is one of the things that used to be very famous in the golden times before, not only due to the movies being shot there, but also because famous actors and actresses of the old time used to have some walks in the garden, and one of them is Abdel Halim Hafez, who also used to live just beside the garden that his apartment could be spotted from there.
El Zamalek is one of the fancy places in Cairo, Egypt, that people always love to hang out in it because it is an island that hosts different cafes and restaurants and thus give the people the chance to enjoy a good time by the Nile - of course that comes in addition to some of the other hidden gems which are found in the streets inside. The aquarium grotto garden is part of El Zamalek and it gives the visitors the chance to enjoy other things after finishing their walk, such as heading to the Andalus park in which they could sit, have a walk, or enjoy staying away from the crowded streets (
There are different places in Egypt that could let you more knowledgeable about the city, such as visiting Cairo Tower which is also found in Zamalek ( or else tending to go to the Egyptian Museum which is not far away and is placed in El Tahrir square ( going to the Islamic Art Museum ( or else walking through the streets and trying to discover more about the old Egypt.
There are different things to know about Egypt and in addition to spending the days visiting the historic places, sometimes going to gardens is needed to make the day much more comfortable. This grotto is the place for those who want to have a walk in a quiet area away from the street.
