Bosnia - Silajdzic Pleads For NATO Air Strikes
T/I: 10:43:14
Bosnian Prime Minister, Haris Silajdzic, on Wednesday (24/5)
criticised the U.N.'s refusal to request NATO air strikes against
Bosnian Serb positions to stop the latest shelling of Sarajevo. He
said he had given up hope of U.N. intervention and believed there
was no political will in the West to try to stop the fighting with
air strikes. Silajdzic said not even a nuclear bomb would bring
the U.N. into the conflict. Meanwhile, the U.N. said at least one
phosphorus shell was believed to have been used during Wednesday's
fierce fighting around Sarajevo. Lieutenant Colonel Gary Coward, a
U.N. spokesman, watched television footage of an impact near a
city market and said: My guess, and it's only an educated
military guess, is that that is white phosphorus.

reaction. I wonder what the reaction will be if they throw some
kind of a nuclear device here? I am sure even then the U.N. will

STORYLINE
President Barack Obama spent a few hours as a tourist on Sunday, seeing Paris with his wife and two young girls after his trip to the Middle East, Germany and the beaches of Normandy.
Obama was wrapping up a four-day trip abroad that took him to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany and France. The tour included a speech to Muslims on Thursday and a trip to a Nazi concentration camp a day later.
On Saturday, he marked the 65th anniversary of the Allied invasion at Normandy.
After the D-Day ceremonies at Omaha Beach, Obama returned to Paris with wife Michelle. They stayed at the US ambassador's residence and spent time as tourists with their daughters.
The Obama family was up early on a cool and overcast Sunday morning.
They were due to visit the Pompidou Centre, a modern art museum constructed of colour-coded ducts that has become a famous landmark since
it opened in 1977. Journalists and tourists gathered around the building amid heavy police security.
The whirlwind tour of Paris began early Saturday evening at the 12th century Notre Dame cathedral, where Obama lit a candle and listened to a children's choir.
Thousands of tourists lined the streets.
Then, the first couple went out for dinner near the Eiffel Tower.
As for Sunday, the White House was not releasing a schedule, other than to say Obama would fly back to the United States.
