The Great Eruption at Arizona Science Center
On Jan. 25, 2018, flames and smoke shot off the rooftop of Arizona Science Center as we recreated the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. We partnered with Walter Productions, a local production company known for their out-of-this-world festival experiences at Bonnaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, Lost Lake Festival and more to transform the north side of the Science Center facing Heritage Square into a simulated volcano. Arizona Science Center is partnering with Walter Productions, a local production company known for their out-of-this-world festival experiences at Bonnaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, Lost Lake Festival and more. Together, we created an awe-inspiring eruption, complete with jets of real fire and plumes of smoke, all in celebration of the incredible POMPEII: THE EXHIBITION.
The action didn’t stop there. POMPEII: THE EXHIBITION and all 4 levels of the Science Center stayed open until 9 p.m. with an explosive twist. We filled Heritage and Science Park with fiery science demonstrations, glow activities, rocket launchers and earth science. Inside, guests found fierce photo-ops and Pompeii-inspired drinks for those 21 and over.
Thank you to all Walter Productions and all of our guests for making this a night we will never forget.
Real volcanic eruptions are no laughing matter. They devastate entire communities, as we have seen with recent events around the globe, and as we saw in 79 AD in Pompeii, Italy. This evening aims to amaze and educate about the astounding power of volcanoes, with a focus on the historic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius and the city it buried in time.

Arizona Historic State Capitol Video Tour
On our quest to see all 50 state capitol buildings, we toured the historic Arizona state capitol in downtown Phoenix. The building is no longer used by the legislature and instead is a museum. The actual working chambers for the House and Senate are next door. The Arizona state capitol building is far less impressive than other capitol buildings we've toured.

AZ Heatwave Damage | Governor Declares 'State of Emergency' Arizona Wildfires
June 25, 2017: Summer is in full effect and Arizona and the rest of the Southwest United States seems to get the hot end of the deal.
Temperatures in Phoenix, Arizona hit a sweltering record-breaking temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit causing fire crews to handle a surge of heat emergencies.
The city had to open 47 cooling centers and 50 flights had to be canceled at Sky Harbor Airport as it was too hot to fly.
When temperatures rise above 110 degrees, the body can not cool itself down which may result in a death stroke.
Well all over social media people have been posting photos and videos of other things besides people who are also being affected by the heat.
