Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary Ridgetop Tour
The Ridgetop Tour at Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary is a legendary tourist experience. Not for the faint hearted, it takes you through some amazing scenery in the Flinders Ranges. We did see more wallabies than this during the tour, but this one was the only time I had the camera turned on.
I know the cost puts some people off, but I would really recommend it. It's one of those experiences you're unlikely to forget, particularly if you're not confident enough to drive yourself to some remote places.
The scenery is breathtaking, the weather when I went was perfect, the road is exciting in places and our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining.

South Australia's First Legally Protected Wilderness Sanctuary
Located 600km north of Adelaide and 130km east of Leigh Creek, and in the ruggedly spectacular northern Flinders Ranges, this 610sq km multi award-winning Wilderness Sanctuary, operated by the Sprigg family, contains some of Australia's most spectacular mountain views and offers numerous Advanced Ecotourism accredited guided tours.

No mine in Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary
In a move to protect Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary from mining threats, the Wilderness Society took to the steps of parliament urging Premier Rann not to allow further mining damage.
Mining company, Marathon Resources, currently holds an exploration lease over the heart of the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, but the lease is now up for renewal.
This provides the perfect opportunity for Premier Rann to protect this beautiful wild place from a mining company that has already been caught out illegally trashing the environment.
Marathon Resources was suspended from drilling in February 2008 when they were caught breaching 22 separate exploration licence conditions, including the illegal dumping of approximately 22,800 bags of waste, containing radioactive drill cores, in two pits in the middle of the Sanctuary.
The proposed mine site at Mt Gee is a Geological Monument, listed on the Register for the National Estate. It is an Environmental Class A Zone, which means that activity such as mining must be of paramount significance and in the national interest to proceed.
It is in the national interest to protect Arkaroola, and now is Premier Rann's chance.

This is the video that Sam Coles, Bradley Parkyn, Jasper Van, Ashleigh Strunk, Paula Ostendorf, Courtney Usher, Millie Moore, Angus, and I made for our Arkaroola presentation with the legendary help of Mr Reed.
My apologies for the length of the video as it had to be over 5 minutes and towards the end we just filled it in with the extension of road and sped up video.
We all had such an amazing time at Arkaroola and it almost brings me to tears watching this video again.
