Smith River - Fly Fishing Montana
The Smith River is located in west-central Montana and is characterized by amazing cliff walls, beautiful wild trout, and the state’s only river requiring a permit to float. This amazing resource is currently in jeopardy with a copper mine proposed for construction on Sheep Creek, the Smith River’s most important tributary. When we drew permits to float the Smith, we knew right then that we wanted to bring the cameras along and make a film to help raise awareness for this stunning body of water. With cameras in tow we set off in three rafts for five days. Ahead of us lay epic vistas, wild trout, snow storms, sunshine, camp fires, laughter, and one hell of a good time!

Hebgen Lake Fly Fishing with Craig and Yvon
August 8, 2010 Fly fishing Hebgen Lake West Yellowstone, Montana. Fly fishing the Trico hatch with Yvon Chouinard and Craig Mathews. Great day on the lake with friends fishing the world's greatest dry fly fishery.
Hebgen Lake - Fly Fishing the Trico Hatch
Hebgen Lake is known as one of the world's best dry fly lakes due to it's prolific callibaetis and trico mayfly spinners. Hebgen's large trout key in on these spinners every sunny day from late spring through early fall. Often overlooked but just as important are the Trico spinners unique to Hebgen lake. The spinners will condition the trout to consistently track into a feeding rhythm on the surface creating a dry fly anglers addiction.
