This is the oldest of three historic arsenal buildings in Lviv, Ukraine. The building, in its present shape, was erected in 1554–56 above a 14th-century structure of unknown function.

????Міський арсенал у Львові – двоповерхова оборонна споруда прямокутної форми з восьмикутною вежею, зведена з кам’яних блоків впритул до фортифікаційного муру міста. Перший арсенал збудований ще у 1450 році. За свою довгу історію він зазнавав значних руйнувань від пожеж, вибухів пороху і нападів ворогів. Та його щоразу відбудовували чи проводили реконструкцію. В арсеналі виготовляли, ремонтували та зберігали зброю. На його території відбувалися допити та катування, а також проживав міський кат. За австрійської влади з 1772 року за арсеналом надовго закріпив статус тюрми.
????Сьогодні #МузейАрсенал – єдиний такого роду заклад культури в Україні. З 1981 працює як виставковий відділ Львівського історичного музею. В Арсеналі знаходяться предмети XI – XIX ст. Експозиція налічує різноманітні види старовинної вогнепальної, холодної, метальної зброї, а також зразки захисного спорядження з більш ніж 30 країн світу. Найбільша кількість експонатів належить до холодної зброї, починаючи від ножів і мечів, закінчуючи сокирами та булавами. Вогнепальну зброю представляють як артилерійські зразки, так і рушниці та пістолети. Метальну – луки та мисливські арбалети. Досить цікавими є предмети особистого спорядження – це захисні обладунки і шоломи. Особливої уваги заслуговує оздоблення, адже багато зразків зброї прикрашені унікальним орнаментом і навіть інкрустовані дорогоцінними камінням та металами, слоновою кісткою та перлами. #Lviv #museum #maysheff

“Puzzles of Eternity” is the international charity project in culture.
Our first aim is to collect money to restore the “Pinzel Museum” in Lviv, Ukraine, and to create the multilingual internet archive of sheet music of composers of XVI-XVIII centuries, so called “Bach Archive” that was saved by Ukrainian musicians and archivists in Kyiv.
The face of the project is the duo of 12-year-old violinists “Two Violins” who give charity concerts to introduce the unique sculptures of Johann Georg Pinzel to the world, and to collect money for the “Puzzles of Eternity” project.
“Puzzles of Eternity” was presented at the hall of the United Nations Library in New York, and in Ukrainian church and embassy in London.
The project is spearheaded by Maryna Poroshenko, the First Lady of Ukraine, His Eminent Beatitude Lubomyr Guzar, Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, Ukrainian philanthropists, known musicians and artists of the world and Ukraine.

Today’s video is all about our visit to Lviv. Having come straight from Kiev, Lviv offered a real change of scenery. The city was much smaller, more walkable, and it looked distinctly Central European. In some ways, it reminded us of a smaller version of Krakow or Prague, though a little rough around the edges. But enough about first impressions; let us actually show you around. In this video we’re going to take you on a grand tour of the city and highlight 20 things to do in Lviv on your next visit, so let’s get started.
Like in Kiev, we quickly discovered that Lviv is a city of churches, so our next stop was the Church of the Holy Communion. After our sushi lunch, we visited the Bernardine Church in the south end of the Old Town; followed by the Latin Cathedral, which sits in the southwest corner of Market Square; and finally the Jesuit Church, where we stumbled upon yet another wedding!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Lviv, Ukraine. We found this to be a charming city with a completely different look and feel from Kiev, so we’re glad we added this stop to our itinerary. If you’re short on time, this is a great destination for a weekend escape.

The City Arsenal (Ukrainian: Львівський міський арсенал, Miskiy arsenal, Polish: Arsenał Miejski we Lwowie) is the oldest of three historic arsenal buildings in Lviv, Ukraine. The other two are the Royal Arsenal and Sieniawski Arsenal. It is a rectangular two-storey structure with a miniature octagonal tower on the north side. The building, in its present shape, was erected in 1554–56 above a 14th-century structure of unknown function. It was formerly attached to the city walls and featured a torture chamber. The arsenal building was blown up by the Swedes during the Great Northern War but was subsequently restored. At present it houses an armoury museum.

Городско́й арсена́л Львова — фортификационное сооружение во Львове (Украина), построенное в 1554—1556 годах. Памятник ренессансной оборонной архитектуры.
Городской арсенал примыкал к крепостным стенам Львова, остатки которых видны с улицы Арсенальной. Здание арсенала выполнено из камня, двухэтажное, прямоугольное в плане, с небольшой восьмиугольной башней на северной стороне. По данным исследований и раскопок, проведённых в 1970-х годах, башня и стены первого этажа имеют более давнее происхождение и были построены, по-видимому, в XIV веке.
В XVIII веке в подвалах львовского городского арсенала держали пленных украинских казаков и гайдамаков. В одном из казематов находилась камера пыток и жильё городского палача.
Во время нападения шведов в 1704 году арсенал был разрушен, но через два года отстроен снова. Современная реставрация была проведена в 1979-1981 годах. С 1981 года — музей оружия «Арсенал».
