On the 7th of October a NEW cool place have been opened! The first Digital Art Museum in Georgia is located in Tbilisi Mall and covers 500 square meters.
This is a place where visual effects produce surrealistic space. Various digital and virtual installations create an unexpected and paradoxical world. The creators of Digital Art Museum offer their visitors an opportunity to escape from reality and experience the world with no limits.

To the right of the square there is the State Museum of Georgia after Simon Janashia, founded in 1923 on the basis of the Caucasian Museum, which had existed since 1825. It is the largest storehouse for the monuments of Georgian culture. Of special interest are the materials from Trialeti burial mounds, referred to the second century before Christ, gold and silver vessels, ceramic items decorated with design. World arts masterpieces include Trialeti gold cup decorated with precious stones and hermetic design. Jewelry articles of the 5-6 centuries B.C. are distinguished by their exclusive perfection of technique and subtle artistic taste: gold diadems, bracelets, earrings, pendants, silver decorations for horse harness, jugs, cups, goblets. It contains vast collections of weaponry and coins not only from Georgia, but from Middle East countries. Ethnographic Department keeps handicrafts' articles - cloths, carpets, wonderful wood fretwork.

It is a rare artist in the world that can give such a rich characters with such a laconic technique and this is evident in every detail or in the paintings as a whole. And he has his own system or method which characterises only great painters and it is the basis of his unique world. When you look for instance to Briegel you see that it is his unique world or the world of Cezanne, or Van Gogh. Pirosmanishvili has his unique world too.

Pirosmani is unique and once you see him is impossible mix up with anyone else. And also he is so Georgian and rooted in Georgian culture that it is impossible to question his origins. Traditions of Georgian medieval fresco paining are very strong in his art. But also what is very significant in Pirosmani is himself, a self-taught artist living in Tbilisi not knowing processes of the European modernist art intuitively is solving the same problems and is very contemporary to his time.

The largest exhibition of the works of Georgian painter Niko Pirosmani has opened to great acclaim in the country's National Art Gallery in the capital Tbilisi.
STORYLINE:
This painting of a fox is one of 108 paintings from the museum's collection and from private collections which make up the exhibition of the art of Niko Pirosmani, also known as Niko Pirosmanashvili.
The exhibition celebrates 150 years since the birth of one of Georgia's most famous artists.
Without any formal education in art Pirosmani created his own unique painting style and painting techniques. He is known as a primitivist painter.
His paintings are characterised by a naive, childlike simplicity of image.
Art critic Gogi Khoshtaria says Pirosmani views the world in a singular way.
To financially survive Pirosmani did many jobs including working as an animal herdsman and a railroad conductor.
He also painted murals on walls in many taverns in the capital.
Art critic Maka Tarkhan-Mouravi says his work is very strongly rooted in his homeland.
Pirosmani had a romantic encounter with French actress known as Margarita, a story which has become like legend in Georgia.

Tbilisi (English: /təbɪˈliːsi, təˈbɪlɪsi/ tə-bih-LEE-see, tə-BIL-ih-see; Georgian: თბილისი [tʰbilisi] ), in some countries also still known by its pre-1936 international designation Tiflis (/ˈtɪflɪs/ TIF-lis), is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. Founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, since then Tbilisi served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. The first-ever Tbilisi Art Fair (TAF) is aiming to boost Georgia's national art market.
Organisers say the Caucasus country boasts an authentic, colourful art scene, but its inner art market is almost non-existent.
STORYLINE:
The first-ever international Tbilisi Art Fair (TAF 2018) is being held in the Georgian capital.
The focus is on discovering Georgia's vibrant art world, as well as showcasing well-established and emerging artists.
Various artists from around the world are presenting their works during the four-day showcase.
Organisers say they've brought together about 30 galleries and 40 independent artists.
French artist Louis Rollinde is presenting his latest work, called 'Exoframes.'
Rollinde created these geometric frames especially for the fair.
They're intended to illustrate the diversity of processes taking part in Georgia's art scene.
Organisers say the goal of Tbilisi Art Fair is to support the creation and development of a modern art market in Georgia and the South Caucasus.
Initially TAF was intended to showcase artists just from the Caucasus region, but boundaries grew, and the exhibit swelled to over 300 works by artists from around the world.
We think that in Georgia there is a potential to transform Tbilisi into the regional art centre, and the aim of this exhibition was to put emphasis on our creative potential, says art fair organiser Nino Gamrekeli.
We have (a) very authentic, colourful artistic world with many interesting painters and artists, but (the) inner art market does not exist or is underdeveloped, and our aim was to make this market more actual and live.
French artist Francois Durif says he took inspiration from Georgian film-maker Otar Iosseliani's work for this performance work, named 'White Cardboard Boxes.'
The aim, he says, is to test the imagination of his audience.
I project these boxes empty, but emptiness is not nothing, says Durif.
You can imagine what is inside.
Georgian artist Uta Bekaia mainly works in the United States and Europe, but has created this site-specific installation, called 'Inhabitants of Childhood,' as part of the fair.
For Bekaia, these mystical creatures symbolise a return to his childhood, which was spent not far from the art fair's venue.
They are kind of these little creatures, which I had as imaginary friends when I was a little kid, he says.
So, it has like double meaning for me, this space.

Beautiful Palace and interesting museum, which is worth a visit!

The halls exhibit exhibits from the time of the Tsar governor, as well as gifts, souvenirs and awards received since the founding of the palace. In the Palace exhibited copies of sketches by the famous Georgian artist Lado Gudiashvili.

Tbilisi (Georgian: თბილისი) is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of roughly 1.5 million inhabitants. Tbilisi is known for its distinctive architecture, which reflects the city's storied past and comprises an eclectic mix of Medieval, Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, Stalinist and Modernist structures. Present-day Tbilisi is one of the safest cities in Europe and frequently ranks among the most popular emerging destinations thanks to Georgia's growing tourism industry.
Tbilisi lies in the centre of eastern Georgia, in the foothills of the Trialeti mountain range. According to Georgian legends, it was founded in the 5th century by King Vakhtang Gorgasali who, while hunting, shot a pheasant which fell into a warm spring and was either boiled or healed. Either way, the king was inspired to found a city on the site, and the name of the city derives from the Georgian word tbili meaning warm.
Tbilisi has cool winters and warm summers. There is very little rain. It rains only 70 days per year. It is common to snow in Tbilisi in the beginning of the year. Most rain falls on the summer months. Summers in Tbilisi can get very hot, with the record high being 42°C, winters can get cold with the record low being -24.4°C.
Main transport inside and outside Tbilisi city is bus and minibus - marshrutka. Tbilisi has a two-line metro system. City buses are yellow or blue, and come in various sizes. The bus number and a description of the route are usually listed on signs in the bus windows, but only in Georgian. Tbilisi had a tram network, since 1883 starting from horse-driven trams and from 25 December 1904 electric tramway.

Tbilisi has important landmarks and sightseeing locations. The Parliament and the government (State Chancellery) buildings of Georgia, as well as the Supreme Court of Georgia, are in Tbilisi. The city has important cultural landmarks such as the Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Shota Rustaveli State Academic Theatre, Marjanishvili State Academic Theatre, the Sameba Cathedral, the Vorontsov's Palace (also known as the Children's Palace today), many state museums, the National Public Library of the Parliament of Georgia, the National Bank of Georgia, Tbilisi Circus, The Bridge of Peace and other important institutions. During the Soviet times, Tbilisi continuously ranked in the top four cities in the Soviet Union for the number of museums. Out of the city's historic landmarks, the most notable are the Narikala fortress (4th–17th century), Anchiskhati Basilica (6th century, built up in the 16th century), Sioni Cathedral (8th century, later rebuilt), and Church of Metekhi.
