Spent a week in September 2018 with the family in Arugam Bay. Here are some of the footage from the surf and the wildlife..
The surf was a bit small, and because of that very crowded at the main point.. but still is an amazing place to be.
The Kumana National Park is definitely a place to visit.. we were lucky to spot Elephants and Crocs among the other many creatures.
ARUGAM BAY 2017 - THE SURFING PARADISE OF SRI LANKA
Arugam Bay is the surfing paradise of Sri Lanka! It has a great beach, waves of all sizes and offers a decent nightlife so there's a party every night. We spend a few days in the nearby Pottuvil and got into a lot of unexpected situations!
P.s. there wasn't a lot of standard vlogging here, but bare with us as we're experimenting a bit. ;)

Join me today to enjoy a very special morning at #ArugamBay, #SriLanka. I promise you once you have seen the laid back, beachy beauty of this place, you will be searching for the next flight.
For me Arugam Bay, like much of Sri Lanka, is a poignant reminder of how things elsewhere, Canggu in Bali, #Arjuna in India, used to be. Surfers mingle with the fisherfolk on the sandy beaches while quaint shack-cafes serve a menu that mixes simple fresh Sri Lanka cooking with the ideals of vegetarianism and healthy living, so you get juices, veggies bowls and the delights of the Sri Lankan ingredients. I am off to the markets, so let's get started.
Arugam Bay, known locally as Arugam Kudah, is a bay situated on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka's southeast coast, and a historic settlement of the ancient Batticaloa Territory

A somewhat random connection with Anthony serving with Surfing The Nations led to some of the best parts of our entire trip!
Surfing the Nations is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that impacts local and international communities through the sport of surfing and selfless service by meeting needs and changing lives.
It's all about surfers giving back!
But even more than that, Babu, Anthony, Cody, Tiffany, Koda and Kenai immediately brought us into local Sri Lankan life to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, and the love and relationships we made there will travel with us forever!

Arugam Bay is Known as the surfing paradise and popular for water sports. Arugam Bay is the best surfing spot in Asia and one of the top ten surfing spots in the world. The surfing season in Arugam Bay begins in March and continues till the end October each year. Peak season comes from July to August. These months are blessed with sky scrapper waves which is delightful for the hard core surfers. Panama village - Pottuvil - Arugam Bay
Panama (Tamil: பாணமை, Sinhalese: පාණම) is a coastal village in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, located 126 kilometres (78 mi) south of Batticaloa and 12 km (7.5 mi) south of Arugam Bay. It is the last populated settlement in the southernmost part of the province, within the Ampara District. Kumana Bird Sanctuary and Heritage park starts southwards from Panama.
Panama was the capital of the Colonial Panamapattuwa of Mattakkalappu Desam. This ancient village can be seen in the historical maps of Portuguese and Dutch as Panao, Panova, and Paneme. Panama's inhabitants are mixed people of Sinhalese and Tamils. Panama is known for its Pattini Cult.
The village's name has been a cause for mix-up by Sri Lanka Post resulting in local mail being wrongly redirected to the Central American nation of Panama and vice versa for international mail.
