Village kotkame is located in Devgad district of Sindhudurga. it is situated by 33 km from Nandgaon (Mumbai Goa highway). After nandgaon u will reach like Asalde, Lingdal titha, Kinjwade and then kotkamte. for kotkamte the landmark is Devi Bhagvati Temple, Bhagavti highshool. This temple is built by 'KANHOJI ANGRE'...... According to rock-inscription, fixed in the wall, this temple was built before 250 years by Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre, the invincible hero of the Konkan coast.
The carvings of the stone idol Goddess of Bhagavati as well as art-work on the wooden pillars of the main hall look very fine. The three old cannons nearby remind viewers of the past history. The name KOT KAMATE refers to the Fort (Kot) existent here in olden days.Nearby u can see Devi Pawnai mandir, hanuman mandir also. this village is surrounded with greenry and mango trees, rivres.

Konkan, also known as the Konkan Coast or Kokan, is a rugged SECTION of the western coastline of India. It is a 720 km long coastline. It consists of the coastal districts of western Indian states of Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra. The ancient Saptakonkana is a slightly larger region.
According to some Hindu Mythological legends, Parashurama shot his arrow into the sea and commanded the Sea God to recede up to the point where his arrow landed. The new piece of land thus recovered came to be known as Konkan meaning piece of earth, corner of earth or piece of corner: koṇa (कोण, corner) + kaṇa (कण, piece). This legend has been mentioned in Sahyadrikhanda of the Skanda Purana.
Some of the ethnic groups and communities found in the region include Agri, Koli, Bhandari, Gabit, Chitpavan, Gauda, Kudaldeshkar Saraswat Brahmins, Kuruba and Kunbi.
Tribal communities in Konkan include Konkana, Warli and Kolcha in Southern Gujarat, Dadra and Nagarhaveli and Thane district of Maharashtra. Katkaris are found more in Raigad and also some in Ratnagiri district.

After Many Many years I visited my Family Goddess Shree Katyayani Baneshwara which is located in Aversa, Ankola in the North Karnaka District near Karwar..
This Temple has a very glorious History and is known for its Heritage. Shri Katyayani Baneshwar Temple or the Aversa Hindu Narayani is a Hindu temple in the coastal town of Aversa near Ankola, in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is around 100 km (62 mi) from Goa, India, 500 km (310 mi) from Bangalore and 136 km from Hubli.

According to the customs of this temple, Pooja’s are performed first to Shri Katyayani and then to Shri Baneshwar and then to Shri Ganapati.
Once a rich merchant named Paulekar was transporting valuable merchandise in a big boat. Nearing Belekeri, his boat was caught in a squall and the craft ran aground on the shore. In spite of his best efforts, he could not set his boat afloat. Being a Kulavee of Shree Katyayani and disheartened by his plight, he came to the temple at Aversa. The night was pitch dark, no one was around, as the Pujari had completed his pooja rituals and gone home. From a small opening in the temple door, the light of the lamps lit within could be seen. The fragrance of camphor and sandal filled the air. The serenity and peacefulness of the atmosphere helped in calming the worried merchant and in this mood he prostrated before the Kulaswamini, narrated his difficulties and vowed to construct a temple in the shape of a boat if SRI DEVI extricated him from his troubles. He then returned to his boat and slept well. Towards dawn he had a dream that an eight-year-old girl pushing his boat with a large barge pole and setting it afloat. He awoke with a start and found it was not merely a dream but a reality. His boat was floating in the sea. As he contemplated, he was struck by the similarity between the face of the idol in the temple and the face of the little girl of his dreams. He was certain that Shri Katyayani had saved him from disaster. With joy in his heart and a deep sense of gratitude he went to the temple at Aversa, where a greater surprise awaited him. He saw the footprints marked with sand and was convinced beyond doubt that Shree Katyayani had saved his boat and merchandise. He stood before the Deity in all humility, offered pooja and vowed to build the temple as soon as possible and left the place.
Parulekar’s business transactions resulted in huge profits and all his time and energy went into the expanding of business and allied monetary gains. In the process he forgot his vow to the Goddess and the help rendered by Her. After a lapse of a few years, when his boat was passing near Belekeri, it suddenly came to a stop. This reminded him that he had not fulfilled his vow given to Sri Kuladevi. He hastened to Aversa and begged for forgiveness for his omissions. He then built the present temple which has a roof resembling an overturned boat.

there only few temples of God Sun. Hindu philosophers and believers consider Sun as a God. There is an ancient Sun temple at Prabhas Pattan near Veraval in Sourashtra region. One can find some Sun temples in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.). Madhya Pradesh (M.P.), Konark, Orisa and Nepal.
Kasheli, a very small village in Rajapur Taluka of Ratnagiri district, is the prime attraction for devotees due to a famous and ancient temple of Sri. Kanakaditya (Name of Sun God). Kasheli is at a distance of approximately 30 kms from both Ratnagiri and Rajapur. The temple is having a bright historical background. The deity of God Aditya (one of the names of God Sun) was brought from Prabhas Pattan Sun temple before 800 years. Prabhas Pattan is Lord Krishna’s place. There are so many legends about the temple. Once one boatman was traveling from Veraval port towards South direction. The deity of Aditya was there in the same boat. When the boat was passing through the Kasheli region, the boat had stopped automatically. The boatman tried a lot to sail the boat into the sea. But he failed to do so. Then he has decided to place the deity of God Aditya at the Kaseli port. He had placed the deity into a black cave (approximately 400 sq. feet). Immediately after this, the boat had got the motion for sailing. A great devotee of God Sun, Kanaka, was living at Kasheli. She got the enlightment from God Sun about the deity. Then she had formally constructed a small temple of Aditya with the help of villagers, hence the temple is known as Kanakaditya. The cave is called as “Devachi Kholi” ( God’s room).
King Shilahar of Panhalgad (a hill fort) had donated kasheli village to Shri. Govind Bhat Bagawat in the service of Brahmins. Govind Bhat was the worshiper of Kanakaditya deity. Progeny of Govind Bhat are the current care takers of the temple.
it is very famous spiritual place from Ratnagiri district. Many devotees from Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Amaravati, Belgum, Hubali, Dharwad, Ujjain, Gwailor, Indore are visiting the temple every year. The temple trustees are celebrating five days festival of Ratha-saptami every year. Many spiritual programs like Kirtan, Pravachan, Aarati, Palakhi etc are organized during the festival period.
Kasheli is only 30 kms away from Ratnagiri and Rajapur. Devotees can catch a MSRTC bus from Ratnagiri and Rajapur bus stand for Kasheli.
