Sensoji Temple
This music name is Miyako JAPAN.
Asakusa's chief tourist draw is Sensoji Temple (popularly known as Asakusa Kannon Temple). It is the headquarters of the Sho-Kannon sect and is reputedly one of Tokyo's oldest temples, having been founded in 628.
The temple is approached from Kaminari Gate, with its huge red paper lantern.
The shopping street leading to the temple, Nakamise dori, is lined with souvenir and Edo-style craft shops. The vast Kannondo (Main Hall) first built in 1651, was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in 1958. The hall is said to hold a golden image of the Goddess of Mercy (kannon) discovered by three fishermen in the 7th century. In front of the temple is a large cauldron of incense, smoke from which is believed to bestow good health.
To the left is a five-story, 48m-high pagoda (rebuilt in 1973) and modeled after a similar structure at Daigoji Temple in Kyoto. Near the pagoda is Dembo-in - a picturesque tea garden built in the 17th century by noted landscape gardener, Enshu Kobori. Although closed to the public, it may be possible to arrange a viewing by calling in advance at the temple's main office.
To the right of the temple is the Asakusa Shrine, which miraculously escaped war-time bombing. The shrine was built on the orders of the third shogun Iemitsu in memory of the three fishermen and is the home shrine of the Sanja Matsuri held in May and Tokyo's biggest and loudest festival.

The town has an old, traditional feel, with the famous Kaminari-mon Gate and large red lantern.
Located in Taito-ku along the west bank of the Sumida-gawa River, the Asakusa district once thrived as a temple town for the nearby Senso-ji Temple, but now it is a downtown area that rivals Ginza, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Shibuya. The history of Senso-ji Temple goes back far into the past. Legend has it that fishermen brothers discovered an image of Kan'non (the goddess of mercy) in the Sumida-gawa River around the year 628 and were inspired to enshrine it. The temple's symbol is the Furai jin-mon (Gate of Wind God and Thunder God) adorned with a large red paper lantern that bears the inscription Kaminari-mon (Thunder Gate). There is a constant flow of visitors and worshippers to the temple throughout the year.
Numerous shops along Nakamise-dori Street, which runs along the approach way to Senso-ji Temple, carry a variety of small articles made of Japanese-style paper and other traditional goods such as folding fans. It is a lovely shopping street that attracts many foreign visitors.
Asakusa is also known as the site for many traditional events. The Sanja-matsuri is a festival of Senso-ji Temple, and is famous for the palanquin parade that is said to convey the Edokko Katagi, or the spirit of the children of Edo, representing the traditional temperament of the original townsfolk of Tokyo. Other festivals include Hozuki-ichi (ground cherry market) in summer, Tori-no-ichi (rooster market) at Otori-jinja Shrine in early winter and Hagoita-ichi (Japanese battledore market) at the end of the year. The most popular event is the fireworks display along the Sumida-gawa River in summer, which over one million people gather to watch.

Monzen Nakacho hosts the 'rake market' for two days out of the year. These things are good luck - especially for the sellers, who charge a ton of money for them.
