City Council and Mayor voice support for a Culture of Peace Movement in Ashland
(
In a February 2, 2015 Study Session representatives and supporters of the Culture of Peace Initiative - Ashland presented their proposal for a Culture of Peace Commission (CPC) at a City Council Study Session focused on the CPC. After holding meetings with each councilor over the past two months, CPI listened to concerns and built a new proposal around a one year pilot project for an Ashland CPC that will operate independently, but with a memorandum of Understanding with the City. CPI will formulate the Commission, comprised of many of the sectors of society in Ashland, many with unique conflict resolution and peacebuilding skills, and perform a State of Peace Report for Ashland, hold key events and trainings and provide unique services aimed at relationship building as various issues arise in the City. There will be a city councilor serving in a liaison capactiy with the CPC. After a year there will be an evaluation of the activities of the CPC and the issue of formally instituting it as a part of CIty Government will be considered. Thanks to all who found common ground and worked on true peace building to arrive at this key understanding. It will be voted on in the coming month.

Going down one of the mountains of Oregon
Open Carry in Medford Oregon library on 04/04/2012
I went on a walk in the cold weather and decided to get warm up in the Medford Library. It was about 30 min closing time and most of the rooms of the library are closed. I went by the security guard and said hello before I went into the library; to my surprise the SG did not panic or told me it illegal. Must mean that they know it legit. I have been in the library about 6 times and asked for help to find a book and to my surprise they did not very much care about my firearm.
Open Carry and speaking at Ashland Oregon City Council meeting
DATE: 2014-01-21
LOCATION: Ashland Oregon City Council Meeting
I speak against an ordinance that is being pushed upon the city by anti gun activists who are likely backed by part of the millions of Bloomberg dollars being poured into Oregon. This meeting was not addressing the ordinance (which has yet to be officially looked at by the Council but will be soon). For that reason, I was able to address the Council for a full five minutes (when the ordinance is before them it will be three minutes) and explain some of their limitations under state preemption and the Constitution as well as the unintended consequence of making their city the destination of choice for all Southern Oregon firearms activists.
My name and address have been redacted at the beginning.
At the end I made a mistake and said southern California. I cut that out because I know most people won't read this far down. LOL Yeah, I messed up and I fessed up but I'm not going to advertise it to EVERYONE. Just those of you who read this far. SMILE

When This Oregon Lake Dried Up In 2015, The Relics Of An Eerie Ghost Town Emerged
When This Oregon Lake Dried Up In 2015, The Relics Of An Eerie Ghost Town Emerged
When droughts caused the water in Detroit Lake to drop to almost unprecedented levels, something incredible was revealed lurking beneath. It’s 2015, and America’s western coast is in the grip of a severe drought. Over in Marion County, Oregon, Detroit Lake is the lowest that it’s ever been. But as the reservoir slowly dries up,…

Women's March Jan 21, 2017 - Ashland, OR
The Women's March in Ashland, Oregon was one of many held in the United States, and around the world, on January 21st, 2017. Ashland is well known for its' 4th of July parade, but this march down the city streets from the library to the band shell in Lithia Park had no bystanders. Many thousands of valley residents were now themselves in the streets, expressing individual views via the signs they held, with their voices, or indeed by their mere presence. An overwhelming spirit of great warmth and unity seemed to deeply connect with other kindred spirits on the planet, who also marched that day. The photos taken by Dennis Freese speak for themselves, and David Hislop's composition, Reunion, is so well matched to the photos that it seems to catch the momentum of the actual march. Be prepared to move your feet!
