Volcano SAKURAJIMA erupting Many Times! (17 May 2015)
Mt.Sakurajima is erupting many times!
Unlike other volcanoes in Japan, Mt.SAKURAJIMA erupts almost everyday!
How energetic this mountain is!
The consecutive eruption smoke is spewing from SHOWA craters of Mt.Sakurajima.
Showa crater is one of the most active craters of Mt.Sakurajima.
Showa is one of the Japan's historical period (1926-1989). Since the crater was created during Showa period, it is called Showa crater.
I was taking the video by my smart phone. But since the eruption lasted so long time, my arms got numb!
I shortened the total length of the video uploaded it at double speed.

Mt. Sakurajima is located in the south of Kyushu Island, Japan.
It is located in the middle of Kagoshima Bay (Kinko Bay).
You can go to the Sakurajima from Kagoshima City by ferry. You can have delicious Japanese Udon nooles on the ferry.
Sakurajima is connected to the Osumi Peninsula and you can go to the Sakurajima from the Peninsula (Tarumizu City) by car.

Mt. Sakurajima is an active volcano. Minor eruption occurs almost every day.
Sometime massive eruption takes places, but with no lost of human life for decades. So, please be relaxed and come to see Mt. Sakurajima!
It has an elevation of 1,117 meters and a circumference of about 50 kilometers.
Mt. Sakurajima and surrounding Kagoshima Bay are nominated as the Geo Park (a place to connected with the earth and learn about Geo Tourism).

There are lots of interesting spots in Sakurajima! I introduce you some examples.
1) Nagisa Park
Near Sakurajima Port. You can take free foot bath and enjoy wonderful view of Kagoshima City and Kinko Bay.
2) Taste Sakurajima small oranges.
It is very sweet and delicious! They are sold at roadside noo-staffed shops and souvenir shops.
3) Yunohira Observatory Platform
The platform is located at the 5th station of Mt. Sakurajima. This is the best place to enjoy the impressive and closest view of Mt. Sakurajima.
4) Take pleasant hot springs!

Kagoshima City is very closed to Mt. Sakurajima.
Are city people safe in such a close distance from the active volcano?
If the wind flows from east, volcanic ashes fall on Kagoshima City.
The ash causes my eyes ache. I cannot go out without a mask covering my mouth.
I cannot wash my hair easily due to ash.
If ash is much amount, it is hard to drive a car because you cannot see in front of you. If wiper moves fast, it can damages windshield of the car. Please be careful!
Many Japanese children made the sandy mountain with my friends, but I collected ash at the garden and made many ASH mountains in my childfood

Big Eruption of Mt.SAKURAJIMA, smoke reached 4,300m! (21 May 2015) N'ly wind, Sunny
Mt.Sakurajima recorded 572th eruption at AM10:20 today.
The smoke reached 6th highest record (4,300m) in history since Japan Meteorological Agency started observing the volcano in 1955. Huge smoke are flowing to the south (Ibusuki City).
Ibusuki City is my hometown. My mother excitedly reported me by email that huge smoke was approaching to her workplace, when I took the video. I heard that the eruption caused huge amount of falling ash.
Huge stones reached 4th station of the volcano. I got relieved to hear that no person was injured by flying stones!
The volcano erupted several times today.
The smoke of eruption at AM06:15 also reached 4,100m!
So, today's eruption smoke exceeded the height of 4,000m twice!
The eruption of the mountain is more active than ever!
The frequency of eruptions in 2015 is most fastest in history.

霧島 と 開聞岳 登山 南九州の旅の思い出
霧島、えびの高原−韓国岳、池めぐり、開聞岳
初めての南九州へ、行ってみました。
1日目：えびの高原上の駐車スペース−韓国岳−獅子戸岳(雨のため下山)−新燃荘−タクシーで車に戻りました。まだ、昼過ぎなので、少し休んで、池めぐりに行くことにします。雲は上だけで、下は天気がいい。車は不動池の近くに移動−不動池−六観音御池−白紫池−白鳥山−えびの高原レストセンターで休みました。疲れたので、車までタクシーで戻りました。新燃荘で温泉に浸かりました。

「かいもん山麓ふれあい公園」のキャンプ場にテントを張りました。
2日目：山頂往復、久々の登山、昨日の疲れもあり、なかなかたいへん。下りも時間がかかった。山川の旅館食堂・くり屋(くりや)に宿をとり、開聞温泉に浸かりました。長崎鼻に行って開聞岳の写真を撮りました。

YELLOWTALE Festivals by Kagoshima University Fishery Faculty Students, JAPAN
This festival is organized by students of Faculty of Fishery, Kagoshima University!
Kagoshima University cultivated Yellowtale for its study.
Once a year students distribute these cultivated fishes to more 30 restaurants near Kagoshima University.
Those restaurants prepare special cuisine of yellowtale.
In order to taste these yellowtale cuisine, you have o buy tickets.
You can buy 4 tickets for 2,000 yen.
You can have 1 yellowtale cuisine and 1 drink for 1 ticket.
It is very CHEAP!
You have to book tickets before festival begins!
Tickets are sold out very fast!
Kagoshima Prefecture ranks 1st in production of yellowtale and bonito in Japan.
Kagoshima Unviersity have made great contributions to fishery industry in Kagoshima!
When you come to Kagoshima, don't forget to eat fresh and delicious fish cuisine!

Touring in the Super Cub 春一番！スーパーカブで菜の花ツーリング 指宿編
2015年1月24日、池田湖で菜の花を満喫後、指宿市街方面へ。途中、大河ドラマ「篤姫」のロケ地となった新永吉の棚田を見学。初めて訪れた「魚見岳自然公園」で雄大なパノラマを堪能しました。
