Efforts on to direct three wild jumbos to forest | Mathrubhumi News
Palakkad: The efforts of Forest Officials are continuing to direct the three wild elephants that strayed to human inhabited area on the border villages of Thrissur-Palakkad districts since the past two days into forest. The elephants are in Mundur-Mylambully areas and the forest officials burst crackers to prevent them entering human settlements. The efforts are continuing to direct them to nearby forest area.

The British name the area silent Valley because of a perceived absence of noisy cicadas. Another name is Sairandhri. another name is there of many lion-tailed macaques Macaca silenus.
Silent Valley national park it's Malayalam is സൈലന്റ് വാലീ നാഷണല്‍ പാര്‍ക്ക് . it is a national park in Palakkad, Kerala, India. It is located in the Nilgiri hills. it has a core area of 89.52 square kilometers . which is surrounded by a buffer zone of 148 square kilometers. This national park has some rare species of flora and fauna. Lions tailed macaque. This area was explored in 1847 by the botanist Robert Wight.
There are many species of mammals at Silent Valley National Park. threatened lion tailed macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Malabar giant squirrel, Nilgiri tahr, Peshwa's bat or Myotis peshwaand hairy winged bat. so many bats, rats and mice.
Mudugar and Irula tribal people are indigenous in silent Valley national park and Attappadi reserve forest.

Riding back home via Attappadi forest - Kerala Ride - Day 9 - GoPro Man
Tried explore as much as while returning from Mannarakkad as I took the Attappadi - Mully - Bikketti - Ooty route to return to Bangalore. Early morning inside the Attappadi forest was super fun. Had to cross Kerala - tamilnadu border twice and thats one of the scariest forest I rode through. I could literally feel the presence of Elephants while riding via Attappadi forest. Also met couple of folks at Mysore and spoke for an hour. They are lovely people. By the time I reached bangalore it was about night 8;30am. Hoping to do many more such rides in the future :)

Dhoni forest palakkad
Dhoni is situated around 15 Kilometers from Palakkad town in Kerala, India. It is famous for Dhoni Waterfalls and the Western Ghat forests. Dhoni is bordered by Western Ghats on north. It is also a popular trekking spot for tourists. Dhoni farm is situated at Dhoni.
Dhoni Waterfalls is located around 15 km from Palakkad and around 34 km from Kollengode Town in Palakkad. An entry pass is required before entering the area. A fee of Rs.100/-(from Aug 15th 2016) will be charged per person. You have to walk 4 km from the bottom of the hill to reach the waterfalls. The roads are not tarred, and one can see water flowing down between the rocks on the way up. No restrictions for carrying food to the top.
Upon reaching the top, one can see the lovely view of the waterfalls and enjoy a bath in the cold waters. With a climb up the rocks one can feel the beauty of the jungles and it is said to have leopards, elephants and so. However, encountering them is rare. A 4 km walk can sometimes be dehydrating as it is a humid area and never climb the hill without much rest in between as continuous climbing can make you feel tired and will kill the joy of trekking
