Menton : Cocteau Connection - Côte d'Azur Film Traveller Episode 4
Menton, dubbed The Pearl of France, has a feel and look all of its own, with its Italian-influenced buildings recalling its ownership by the Republic of Genoa in the 13th century.
Since 1934, the city of Menton has provided a location for over 60 films, starting with Marcel Carné's La Pension Mimosa. Other films made in Menton include Mobius (2013) and The Son's Room (2001). The most recent, Grace of Monaco, is a tribute to film star Grace Kelly, played by Nicole Kidman, which will be released in 2013.

AKO TOP DOWN STROLLING TO CANNES FROM NICE, COTE D'AZUR
We have been strolling at Boulevard Charles Guillaumont, France after we been told by the boat incharge that the flight for the parasailing parachute for the meantime is suspended due to stom is approaching so in short we failed to fly with parasailing parachute on our first attempt.
Bebe and I are decided to call Madame Lita to fetch us from our location and wanted to stay at home or do swimming at the swimming pool. Indeed, Madame came with her top down car but to our surprise she brought us to Cannes.
We arrived in Cannes and as usaul we roamed around and took selfies. We wanted to ride a City Tour Train but another disappointment on our part because we havent seen any train and we do not know the details of what was the cause. So we decided to go home to Nice and I made a joke about top down cars in connection to my bald head.

Discover our blog ! Film Traveller Côte d'Azur is a blog covering the film connections of the Côte d'Azur region of the South of France.
We all enjoy watching classic movies set in exotic locations, with actors such as Cary Grant, Grace Kelly and Sean Connery spending their days being chased along mountain roads in sports cars or lazing on a sun-dappled beach before their next romantic interlude. Today's films may not be as glamorous as they once were, but those locations still exist, if you know where to look.

Côte d'Azur, France part 1/3 (Nice, Èze), Monaco
Sights of Nice, Èze, Monaco, Côte d'Azur, France, during a trip in April - May 2019.
The French Riviera (known in French as the Côte d'Azur - Blue Coast) is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France. There is no official boundary, but it is usually considered to extend from Cassis or Toulon on the west to the France–Italy border in the east, where the Italian Riviera joins. The name 'Côte d'Azur' was given to the coast by the writer Stéphen Liégeard in his book, La Côte d’azur, published in December 1887.
This coastline was one of the first modern resort areas. It began as a winter health resort for the British upper class at the end of the 18th century. With the arrival of the railway in the mid-19th century, it became the vacation spot of British, Russian, and other aristocrats, such as Queen Victoria and King Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales. It was frequented by artists and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Francis Bacon, Edith Wharton, Somerset Maugham and Aldous Huxley, as well as wealthy Americans and Europeans. After World War II, it became a popular tourist destination and convention site. Many celebrities, such as Elton John and Brigitte Bardot, have homes in the region.
Its largest city is Nice, The natural environment and the mild Mediterranean climate of Nice came to the attention of the English upper classes in the second half of the 18th century, when an increasing number of aristocratic families took to spending their winters there. The city's main seaside promenade, the 'Promenade des Anglais' (Walkway of the English) owes its name to visitors to the resort. The clear air and soft light have particularly appealed to notable painters, such as Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Niki de Saint Phalle and Arman. Their work is commemorated in many of the city's museums, including Musée Marc Chagall, Musée Matisse and Musée des Beaux-Arts.
Principality of Monaco is a sovereign city-state, country, and microstate on the French Riviera. Monaco has an area of about 2 km², making it the second-smallest country in the world after the Vatican. Its population is about 38400 (2016). With about 19000 inhabitants per km², it is the most densely-populated sovereign state in the world.
Monaco is a constitutional monarchy, with Prince Albert II as head of state. The House of Grimaldi has ruled Monaco, with brief interruptions, since 1297. The official language is French, but Monégasque, Italian, and English are widely spoken and understood. The state's sovereignty was officially recognized by the Franco-Monegasque Treaty of 1861, with Monaco becoming a full United Nations voting member in 1993. Despite Monaco's independence and separate foreign policy, its defence is the responsibility of France. However, Monaco does maintain two small military units.
Economic development was spurred in the late 19th century with the opening of the country's first casino, Monte Carlo, and a railway connection to Paris. Since then, Monaco's mild climate, scenery, and gambling facilities have contributed to the principality's status as a tourist destination and recreation centre for the rich. In more recent years, Monaco has become a major banking centre. The state has no income tax, low business taxes, and is well known for being a tax haven. It is also the host of the annual street circuit motor race 'Monaco Grand Prix', one of the original Grands Prix of Formula One.
The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco was inaugurated in 1910 by Monaco's modernist reformer, Prince Albert I. Jacques-Yves Cousteau was director from 1957 to 1988. (Excerpts from 'Wikipedia)
