Amazing Winners Going Fishing!
Plastic Recycling Rewards Children & their Mother's
Protect Mother Earth 2013 Summer Camp Recycling Winners Save Almost 1-1/2 Tons of Plastics from the Landfill - and then go fishing! in a BIG (Fish) Way!
During the last three weeks of July, many of the 100 children ages 6 to 12 who were lucky enough to participate in this Summer's Protect Mother Earth summer camp scoured the streets, searched the arroyos, checked the roads and highways, pleaded with their Abuelas, Tias, Amigas y Vecinos (Grandmas, Aunts, Friends, Neighbors) and convinced their parents to save all their plastics for the Recycling Contest. They knew that 11 Grand Winners (along with their mothers) would have the opportunity to go fishing on the beautiful Sea of Cortez with Baja's Awesome Sportfishing. The results were more than awesome - they literally blew us away. Each Friday's haul built on the previous and by the third Friday 2,712 pounds (1.3 tons!) of plastics had been collected. Some enterprising kids even went to local restaurants and businesses, leaving behind bags and boxes for people to recycle and save for them. Each evening families could be seen coming up from the beaches, highway, and hillsides with someone looking like Santa Claus carrying a bag of toys - this time it was all plastic!
'Awesome' Bisbee Tournament 26, 27, 28 July 2012.
East Cape Bisbee Tournament with a Record Setting 262 Pound Yellow Fin Tuna.
Awesome seems to be shining in the setting sun as she approaches, and then pulls to the dock. A crowd is waiting and after a very confident wave from Luis in the bridge, we see the deck and we're drop jawed with awe. It is the largest tuna I've ever seen and now it needs to be muscled onto the dock, then the 150' to the weigh station. News moves fast and in no time the fish is heaved into the bucket of the loader and taken up. Tournament Director Wayne Bisbee is stoked; he's been at this game for a long, long time, and bringing in an enormous tuna, just minutes before the weigh station closes on the third day, is just adding to the excitement and pressure. Hook it and hoist it, boys, Wayne says let's get it weighed!. Trisha Bisbee on the official scale checks the display and with her beautiful bright smile, tells Wayne '262' pounds! Captain Luis Duran Sandoval (50 years old from Los Barriles, Baja), accompanied by Captain Adan Rojas Ruiz (34 years old from Los Barriles, Baja), from sister boat 'Too Awesome' acting as deckhand, along with Shaun Speer (60 years old from Los Barriles, Baja and Hailey, Idaho), Lucas Loynes and Team Captain Mike Loynes (30 years old and 61 years old respectively, San Jose del Cabo, Baja and White Rock, British Columbia, Canada).

Mike Alperin Fishing Baja Mexico
Calamari anyone?
We took a family fishing trip last Spring to Baja Mexico. My great nephew Nick, turned 18, so it was time to bring him south of the border to fish the Sea of Cortez.
Nick doesn't fish much, and as luck would have it, he caught the fish of the trip. A monster Pargo.
His dad Lee, caught his personal best Rooster. A real pig.
As for me, I left a brand new rod and reel at the bottom of the Sea of Cortez.
