Bala Quila - Weekend Ride | Delhi to Bala Quila | Alwar Fort
A good ride after a long time to explore one of the oldest forts of Rajasthan. #BalaQuila or #AlwarFort is around 155km from Delhi and must visit place if you like historical places and wildlife.
Nestled in the Sariska Range of forests at approx 1120ft above Alwar city on a hill in the Aravalli Range.
The fort is not well maintained and the main building of the fort is closed for the visitors as the repairing work is going on. You can see the expanse of the Alwar city from the fort.

Bala Quila - Alwar city, Rajasthan
Bala Quila is perched on a 300 meter high steep cliff that lends a majestic view of Alwar. Standing tall since 16th century and looking after Alwar even before the Mughals arrived, the fort is the most notable symbol of the Alwar city. It is said that Emperor Jahangir stayed in this Bala Quila when his father, the great emperor Ashok banished him. The place where Emperor Jahangir stayed in Bala Quila is known as Salim Mahal. Later, in the year 1775, Bala Quila was taken by Pratap Singh, the founder of Alwar state. This huge fort once upon a time had tight security which one can witness with its 15 large and 51 small towers perched on top of the fort.
The fort extends for about 5 km from north to south and 1.6 km from east to west. The fort has six gates, namely, Jai Pol, Suraj Pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Krishen Pol and Andheri Gate which tells us the story of valor and chivalry of Rajputs. Bala Quila walls are decorated with finely crafted with ancient scriptures and sculptures that would take you back to those golden times. It is a testimonial of Indo-Islamic architecture.
The fort also has Jai Mahal, Nikumbh Mahal, Salim Sagar Pond, Suraj Kund and many temples which even today reflect the grandeur of the bygone era. One can see the splendid view of the city from the watch towers of Bala Quila. One also needs to take the permission of Superintendent of Police, Alwar to visit the fort.
Surrounded by Aravalli Hills, Bala Quila gives a picturesque view and weaves the story of forgotten times. So pack your bags and travel back 1100 years to unfold the lost history.

Bala Quila also known Alwar fort is a fort in Alwar in Indian state of Rajasthan. [1] It is situated on a hill in the Aravalli Range, above the town of Alwar.[2] The fort is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) long and is about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) wide. It was built in 15th century by the Hasan Khan Mewati. In the following centuries it went to the Marathas,and to the Kachwaha Rajputs.[3]

बाला किला जिसे अलवर किले के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। अलवर शहर में एक पहाड़ी पर स्थित है। जिसका अर्थ 'नया किला' है।300 मीटर्स की खड़ी चट्टानों के शीर्ष पर स्थित अलवर किले से आप अलवर सहर का सुन्दर नजारा भी देख सकते है । किले का निर्माण ईसा पश्चात वर्ष 1550 में हसन खान मेवाती ने करवाया था।
यहाँ छह प्रमुख द्वार हैं ; जय पोल, लक्ष्मण पोल, सूरत पोल, चाँद पोल, अंधेरी द्वार और कृष्णा द्वार जो किले की ओर जाते हैं। इस किले में बंदूकें चलाने के लिए 446 छिद्र हैं। 15 बड़े टॉवर और 51 छोटे टॉवर हैं।
अलवर किला पर मुगलों, मराठों और जाटों ने शाशन किया था।1775 में प्रताप सिंह ने इस किले पर कब्जा कर लिया और इसके निकट अलवर शहर की नींव रखी।
अलवर किला राजस्थान में सबसे बड़े किलों में गिने जाते हैं, जो कि 5 किलोमीटर की दूरी तक फैली हुई है।
