Special thank you to Made for driving us around!
Bali is an amazing place to eat - there are so many incredible dishes, and the unique Balinese culture paired with the food is what makes it so special. In this Indonesian street food tour of Bali, I’m taking you to 6 street food stalls / restaurants in a row, for serious food lovers!
Warung Nasi Bali Men Weti - Some consider this legendary stall, right along the ocean to be the best Balinese local street food spot in Denpasar, Bali, and after eating it, there’s absolutely no room for argument. The plate of food you’ll be served is nothing short of spectacular, full of Balinese flavor.
Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83) per plate
Warung Mak Beng - Known for their fried fish set, Warung Mak Beng is another legendary Balinese restaurant. Their fish was amazing, both the fish head soup and the fried fish, and not forgetting their amazing sambal. Another must eat when you’re in Bali.
Price - 45,000 IDR ($3.29) per set
Sate Plecing Arjuna - This is a place you come to eat sate plecing, a type of Indonesian street food sate that’s covered in a shrimp paste chili sambal. They were incredibly delicious as well, especially the samel.
Total price - 68,000 IDR ($4.98)
Sate Babi Bawah Pohon - In Bali, pork is very common, and this is probably one of the most well known Indonesian street food stalls in all of Bali. For me the pork sate was a little on the sweet side, however it was still pretty tasty.
Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83)
Babi Guling Pak Dobiel - When it comes to Balinese food, there’s nothing more famous to try than babi guling, Balinese style roast pig served with all the side dishes. It’s spectacular combination and you’ll find dozens of restaurants serving babi guling. In this Balinese food tour I went to Babi Guling Pak Dobiel, and it’s the best plate of babi guling I had in Bali.
Total price - 100,000 IDR ($7.32) for 2
Warung Kintamani - Ubud - Finally, to finish off this Balinese food tour, we headed back to Ubud and Made, took me to eat mujair nyatnyat, tilapia in a curry sauce. It was awesome delicious, a perfect way to end this Indonesian street food tour of Bali.
Total price - 105,000 IDR ($7.68) for 3

LEGIAN BEACH BALI
LEGIAN BEACH BALI
Legian is nestled between Kuta and Seminyak, and its location is a good indication of its feel. A little less hectic than Kuta, not as trendy as Seminyak.
If you want to be in the main tourist destinations of Bali, and have shops, markets, food options and the beach at your doorstep then it’s for you. If you came to Bali to see beautiful beaches or rice fields, then you’re probably best looking into Ubud, Jimbaran, Uluwatu or the North or East coast of Bali, either as an alternative or combining it with Legian.
There are plenty of things to do in Legian, including shopping, swimming, eating out, massages, and surfing lessons. At the beach end of Jalan Melasti is a large market selling traditional Balinese items and souvenirs.
Legian would be a good option if you wanted to stay in Seminyak but it was over the budget. Or if you wanted to be near Kuta but not stay right there. Legain offers great value for money.
What’s Nearby?
Depending on traffic… Kuta and Seminyak are walkable or a short taxi. Ngurah Rai International Airport is 15 mins south. Jimbaran is 30 mins south. Uluwatu is 45 mins south. Ubud is about 1.5 hrs away.
Kuta and Seminyak are close by, so you could go to Kuta to shop or go to Waterbom Park, and you can also easily access Seminyak for more boutique high-end shopping, art galleries, cafes and fine dining.
Another option is visiting Tanah Lot, a Balinese Temple on the coast. You could do a day trip to Ubud although I think staying there would be much more enjoyable. And then there is always a tasty seafood dinner on the beach in Jimbaran.
Legian Beach surf spot is commonly known as Padma, is one of a handful of fun beach breaks in Bali. Legian is better known as a tourist attraction for it’s long, smooth sand beach connecting Kuta Beach to Seminyak. Just a short trip from Kuta, Padma is easy to check out on your journey North towards other world-class reef breaks in the area like Seminyak, Airport Reefs, Berawa, or Canggu. With a very consistent set of swell, you are likely to find fun waves at Padma year-round regardless of swell. Considering it’s a beach break, you may be able to stray away from the crowd by searching out a private peak rather than paddling out to an already overpopulated line-up. Padma is a great spot for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers looking for quick, fun, and accessible surf.
What kind of wave is Legian Beach?
Legian is a beach break located adjacent to Kuta Beach and connects 3 kilometres of white sand beach between Seminyak and Tuban. Better known as a tourist destination fit for swimming and general recreation, the beach break is fun but not exactly world-class. Lefts tend to be a bit longer walled-out sections and rights tend to barrel under ideal conditions. Legian is a great wave for folks venturing into surfing for the first time or veterans looking for easy access to the break without the hassle of a boat ride, guided trip, or long paddle out.
Nusa Lembongan, Bali (part 1)

Wonderful of Bali | Jaens Tours
Bali is Indonesia's main tourist destination in the Indonesian archipelago. The island is home to an ancient culture that's known for its warm hospitality. Also known as the Land of the Gods, Bali appeals through its sheer natural beauty of looming volcanoes and lush terraced rice fields that exude peace and serenity. Exotic temples and palaces set against stunning natural backdrops are some of the top attractions.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana, or GWK for short, has become one of the favourite places in Bali for art and cultural performances, exhibitions, and conferences. GWK, once completed at 145 metres, will be one of the world’s tallest statues and erected on the top of the hill, with a magnificent panorama of Bali.
When you enter the area of monkey forest Bali, fresh air immediately felt. Besides watching playful monkeys in their natural habitat, swinging through canopies, lazing along pathways or feeding on bananas, the site offers cool walks along paved pathways through a forest.
Even though it is a sacred place of worship, Tirta Empul Temple is open to everyone, including tourists. In addition to providing a fresh shower for bathing, this temple is believed to be able to purify the body and soul of people who bathe there.
If walking through dense jungle, clambering over rocks and ducking under lush green canopies is your idea of fun, then hunting for Bali’s hidden waterfalls needs to be on your Bali bucket list. The waterfalls in Bali are becoming increasingly popular tourist destinations. Many are accessible, easily found with well-trodden pathways and steps. Others are hidden gems that take a bit of searching to find.
Enjoy amazing beach, Bali also famous for surfers’ paradise! Bali’s white beaches are certainly a favorite destination for family holidays. There are a variety of watersports available, such as banana boats, parasailing or jet skiing, go swimming or you may just linger and enjoy good sunbathing by the sea.
If you are thinking of bringing home souvenirs, your best bet is the souvenir market at Sukawati and Ubud Art Market, where you may be overwhelmed by choice.
After exploring hours are done for the day, you can surrender in total relaxation and experience the best of Balinese spa, located all over Bali. Balinese spa products are made with fine quality local ingredients and are perfect for you to also bring home as a souvenir!

MY TRAVEL TO BALI / SEMINYAK / Nusa Penida / what I eat in Bali
After relaxing a couple of days on the beach in Canggu I’m moving further down the island to Seminyak that is a more sophisticated and upscale beach resort area with modern cafes, fine dining restaurants, glamorous tiny boutiques and versatile nightlife.
Spending the first day exploring Seminyak I’m heading to Nusa Penida island that’s one of the most picturesque places I’ve visited during my travel to Bali!

BALI, INDONESIA - Snorkeling at NUSA PENIDA Island
#Bali #Indonesia #NusaPenida #snorkeling #CrystalBay
One of our goals while in Bali was to go snorkeling and/or diving. The day we decided to go, the seas were too rough for beginner’s SCUBA dives, so we all went snorkeling instead.
We took a shuttle ride to the Sanur Harbor and picked up our tickets. The ride consists of a large, fast boat to take approximately 100 persons to Nusa Penida Island. After the one-hour boat ride, we would break up into smaller groups and take the various tours that were available.
We ended up on a smaller boat with around 15 passengers and we were on our way to the first snorkeling spot.
Manta Ray Bay
Our snorkeling trip consisted of four stopping points including Manta Ray Bay and Crystal Bay. Our first stop was Manta Ray Bay and the seas were incredibly rough there. Everyone put on their snorkeling gear and dropped into the water one-by-one. Life Jackets were optional; but encouraged. I went about 15 minutes without one and then swam back to the boat to get one. Our son went through all four stops without a life jacket and he did just fine.
Even though the seas were rough we all go to see at least six very large manta rays swimming below us. They gracefully swam through the water ignoring all of the swimmers. Unfortunately, because of the rough waters I did not take either of my waterproof cameras with me!
Crystal Bay
Our second stop, Crystal Bay was the best one for snorkeling. The bay was much more protected from the rough seas and was relatively calm. Coral and colorful fish abounded in the area. I was able to get some good video and photographs at this stop.
Last Two Stops
The third stop was another relatively calm bay, but there were not as many fish in the area. The last stop was at the Island’s Harbor not far from where we first docked. There were some very large fish in the area, but once we dropped into the water, they had all swam away from us. This location also had very strong currents and our boat had to move quite far to pick us up.
Conclusion
Overall the snorkeling expedition to Nusa Penida Island was a good experience. If I go back though, I would do a private snorkeling boat trip with no predetermined stops or time limits. We spent too much time at some spots and not enough time at the better ones because we had a large number of passengers and had preset time limits at the various spots.
We will see YOU on the next adventure!

BALI BEACHES Legian, Seminyak
Bali is famous for it's many beaches, most notably Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. Here I've filmed Legian and Seminyak in February, before peak season. The weather was fine on these days.
Bali's beaches do suffer from pollution, but are still often quite beautiful and I hope I have captured some of this. A day down at a beach in Bali, with glorious hot weather and cold beer...What more can you possibly want?
