Airlie Monument
The Airlie Monument lies high on Tulloch Hill (387m / 1269 feet) between the ends of Glen Prosen and Glen Clova, 5 miles (8 km) north of Kirriemuir. It is based on a tower from the Earl's home, Airlie Castle.
The monument was built in 1901 in honour of David Ogilvy, the 9th Earl of Airlie (1856 - 1900) who was killed in South Africa at the Battle of Diamond Hill during the Boer War.
Easter Sunday Drive Road To Kirriemuir Angus Scotland
Tour Scotland Easter Sunday video of a drive on the road from Meigle, Perthshire, on ancestry visit to Kirriemuir in Angus region. Kirriemuir has a history of accused witches back in the 16th century. Many of the older buildings have a witches stane built in to ward off evil. It is well known as the birthplace of Peter Pan creator and Rector of the University of St Andrews, J.M. Barrie. Bon Scott of AC/DC was born in nearby Forfar and lived in Kirriemuir for a short time from 1947 until 1950 when his family emigrated to Australia,
Kirriemuir Blues
Many people in Kirriemuir believe the characters in Peter Pan were based on their elderly relatives. Back in the day, these people would have been quietly proud, but what if Kirriemuir's Barrie had written it today? All those who believed they were in the book would probably be on reality TV seeking fame and fortune. This was my inspiration for this song.

Small Pike Shows Interest in my Fly at Loch Brandy (Angus)
A fun trip trip up to Loch Brandy in the Angus Glens.
A 45 minute to an hour walk up from the Glen Clova Hotel (not for the unfit) finds you at this little loch nestled in the corrie.
We had a full day fishing for brown trout and caught 18 between the pair of us, with the largest coming in at just over a pound, but the average being 1/4 to 1/2 a pound. Hard fighting little brownies fell to a variety of patterns, but the bulk of them fell to Bibio, Black Hopper and a Snipe and Purple.
Loch Brandy is free to fish and is certainly worth the walk.

superb example of a late victorian dwelling house , pleasantly situated in the popular town of Kirriemuir with attractive southerly views. The property still retains most of its original features throughout including natural wood doors skirtings and facings , together with ornate ceiling cornicing and working fireplaces. In addition most of the windows are original with lead and coloured stain glass adding to the character and charm of this handsome family home . Other features include gas fired central heating , and easily maintained gardens and grounds. The Angus town of Kirriemuir has an excellent level of local amenities , including the popular Golf Club , has many shops and facilities and of course is close to the Angus glens , well known for shooting, fishing and Hillwalking . Kirriemuir offers easy access to the main dual carriageway linking Dundee to Aberdeen.
