Cool Bar | Shinjuku by Night
I love coffee hunts that end up in a bar with... CHAMPAGNE, woohoo!!!!
Bar 371 had a wide selection of alcohol including good champagne! The fact that they don’t charge for the table and give prices including the consumption tax is appreciable too. No bad surprise at the end ;-)
Thank you so much for the chip in my friends! I really enjoyed this break :-)

Tokyo's Yakitori Alley: Shinjuku 360 ★ ONLY in JAPAN
One of Tokyo's most famous food alleys is at Shinjuku's West gate where loads of yakitori and motsunabe restaurants date back to the late 1940s. It's a street food paradise where you can see and smell the grilling and frying -- hungry, you will be!
In this episode, John and Shingo visit OMOIDE YOKOCHO (思い出横丁) or Memory Lane. Have a look around the alley and shops in 360 VR!
Food featured:
★ Yakitori / やきとり
★ Motsunabe / もつ鍋
★ Ramen / ラーメン
★ Yakisoba / 焼きそば (fried noodles in sauce)
★ Yukhoe (Korean based dish of seasoned raw beef with egg)
※ Best seen in 4K (2160p) / change the settings and watch with WIFI on for super clear views.
Omoide Yokocho is most famous for motsunabe (stewed giblets) and yakitori. Why?
THE HISTORY:
Following WWII, flour was a government regulated good and ramen / noodles weren't available to street stands. Instead, restaurant owners turned to non-regulated ingredients like pig and cow enthralls which were readily available and cheap from American servicemen occupying the city. From this, motsunabe (stewed giblets) and yakitori (from enthralls) were born.
It's much better tasting than it sounds! About 20 shops in Omoide Yokocho still serve motsunabe like they did back in the mid 1940s.
The alley retains its old Showa period charm despite all the modern new buildings surrounding it. It's like entering a world trapped in time and definitely worth a stop on anyone's trip to Tokyo.
This place used to be called Piss Alley but who'd want to eat at a place with piss in the name? It was changed to Memory Lane which is simply more appetizing although I do make a trip to the toilets to see if they are modern washlet style or totally Medieval holes int he ground.

From North to South Italy is full of hidden treasures, and Regional cuisine is the most authentic expression of the Italian culinary heritage.
Hidden Italy Tours, an emerging Travel Company based in Abruzzo (Italy) knows it well, and with the goal of making travelers discover the hidden treasures and flavors of Italy, has just started to organize a series of promotional events around the globe together with renowned chef and food blogger Vincenzo's Plate. They have started their adventure in the Land of the Rising Sun with their first promotional event Abruzzo in Japan, held in one of the best Italian restaurants in Tokyo, the Trattoria dai Paesani, the one and only Abruzzese restaurant in Japan and the Asia-Pacific area. The Trattoria, situated in the business district of Shinjuku in Tokyo, has been funded by Giuseppe Sabatino and Davide Fabiano, two passionate Abruzzesi who have brought a piece of Abruzzo in the heart of the metropolis. The ULTIMATE Japanese FOOD & DRINK Tour of Shibuya - Izakaya Bar Hopping | Tokyo, Japan
In January of 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to spend twelve days in Japan while working a job for a company there. I had some of the most incredible travel and food experiences of my life during those twelve days, and was lucky enough to immerse myself in traditional Japanese culture and visit some of the country’s most iconic sites. I hope you enjoy watching this Japan series as much as I enjoyed filming it!

On the night of my third day in Tokyo, I set out on an incredible food and drink tour with Magical Trip, a tour service that is available in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima and takes small groups of tourists on a wide variety of food and cultural tours. Best of all, the tours are led by local guides, so participants get the inside scoop on places known only by locals. I couldn’t wait to get started!
My Film Making Kit ►
My last street food tour of Tokyo began on another freezing night at Shibuya Crossing, the busiest intersection in the world! I met up with my tour guide, Remi, and my fellow tour-goers, and we set off on our Izakaya, or a mixture of restaurants and bars, tour of Shibuya!
At our first place, we started with a wet towel to clean our hands (and in my case, my face) before our meal. Then, we ordered some shochu, a Japanese spirit that’s a lot like vodka. It’s about 25% alcohol and reminded me of rakia. It’s pretty strong!
My first dish was tuna sashimi with shoyu (soy sauce) and wasabi. It was so fresh and fatty. One of the best things about dining in Japan is all of the fresh seafood! Next up was the fried oyster, which was crunchy and buttery and fantastic with the mayo it was served with.
On our way to our next place, we passed by lots of restaurants and stores selling things like shoes, clothing and even lingerie! This area is exactly what you expect to see when you think “Tokyo,” bright lights and a dizzying flurry of activity everywhere you look!
Our next stop was an Izakaya building, where we went up to the third floor and had some sake with ice to start, followed by some wagyu beef that was torched right at our table! I had it with some rice and wasabi. It was so buttery and a little crispy on top from the torch. Fantastic!
Then I had some waygu beef with rice and green onions, which was also amazing! I loved it!
After that, we headed to our third Izakaya, a place called Meat Alley, which offered a wide selection of alcoholic drinks and meat dishes. I started with some plum wine, which tasted like grapefruit juice! I couldn’t believe it was wine, but it was delicious!
After our drinks, we moved on to some karaage, or fried chicken. It was so different, but so amazing! It blows KFC out of the water, for sure! Next I tried some asparagus and mushrooms, which were phenomenal. Then, it was time for bacon! It was super thick and fatty and very flavorful.
I followed the bacon with a super dry, cold sake that had a nice, fruity flavor, and we finished off our night with a quiz based on some of the information Remi shared with us on our tour. How do you think I did?
Wow! What a night! That Izakaya tour was so much fun and was a great way to eat some food and have some drinks like a local would. I have to thank Remi and Magical Tours for such an incredible night.

Vowz Bar: Savoring Drinks, Snacks, and Japanese Buddhism - LIVE JAPAN
▶︎ ◀︎
Nestled away in the cozy back alleys of Yotsuya, one of Shinjuku’s scenic neighborhoods, lies Vowz Bar, a bar as famous as it seems out of place at the first glance. It is run entirely by Buddhist monks and while some of you might think “Eh, yet another theme bar in Tokyo”, Vowz Bar is anything but that.

Tokyo Nightlife | Try 80 different types of Rum from all around the world at Bar Baobab, Shinjuku!
BaoBab, a small, cosy--maybe even cramped--bar.
One of the first few things you’ll notice is the huge shelf chock-full of vinyl records behind the bar, and when we say chock-full, we mean near-breaking-point-full of vinyl records. According to their website, there are over 3000 vinyl records in that shelf!
The actual decor is interesting, to say the least. There are a handful of paintings hung around, and they give off the same vibe as the music that they play in the bar: Soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, R&B.
If you’re in Tokyo, do try to visit this bar at least once. If it’s not to your liking, have no fear, there are plenty of other bars in the Shinjuku area, too.

You know, I could eat a Kit Kat any time of day! In fact , Second only to actual cats, the great candy bar that’s meant to be shared is the most talked about topic on the internet! And theres good reason too. In Japan there are always no less than 3 flavors of Kit Kats in circulation. Of course theres the regular kind, a dark chocolate and green tea. You can find those at any supermarket year round. But then there are a special kind of flavor always in rotation. Pumpkin, Strawberry, Raspberry, Sake, There’s always a special kind going around. They've become so popular that Japanese Kit Kats are projected to become the top Japanese export!
This new one is a little strange. Its got nuts on it, thats cool! And theres only one bar?! I guess thats how they get you. It says it came from the Kit Kat Chocolatory. What’s that? A chocolate factory? A Laboratory? Maybe its a little bit of both, but its an actual place!
There are several Chocolatories across Japan. You can find one in Sapporo, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka and three in Tokyo. One in Ikebukuro Station. One in Shinjuku Station and one in Tokyo Station. If you live in Japan or are just passing through, you’ll likely be at Tokyo station at some point. It’s a major hub for the Shinkansen, also known as the bullet train. Honestly there isn’t much to do around the station, but underground is a whole town unto itself. with all kinds of shops and cool things to eat. Tucked away in under Tokyo station is a Chocolatory!
At these shops you can buy specialty made Kit Kats. The flavors change often and once they sell out of the batch that they've made for the day, that’s it, all gone! The store has a handy menu to help you out. On this day they had strawberry maple, butter and a few other
Oh can we talk about price for a minute? I know its a fun and cool thing but really? 432 yen for one pack?!
Its a lot of money for a little bit of joy
In addition the special flavors come in neat premium style boxes. There’s also a cool display window showing Kit Kats in many colors and varieties. And hey did you notice? The chandelier hanging down from the ceiling is shaped like Kat Kats!
So you if you pass through Tokyo station or any where else where there’s a Kit Kat Chocolatory, pick up a Kit Kat and give yourself a break!
