Ljubljana Castle – Ljubljana Castle, a hard-to-miss symbol of the city, is situated on a small hill in the center of Ljubljana, 60 meters (196 ft) above the old town. Some parts of today’s structure date back to the 15th century; this mighty medieval fortress has served as military housing as well as the royal residence for several centuries. Inside the castle there is the Chapel of St. George (1489), redone later in Baroque style, and decorated in 1747 with the colorful coat-of-arms of Carniolian provincial governors. Nowadays the castle represents an oasis in the middle of the Ljubljana’s old town, where people can relax or go for a walk. Moreover, it serves as a venue for cultural and entertaining events.

EXPLORING SLOVENIA and night-life in its beautiful capital, LJUBLJANA ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's walk around Ljubljana at night and let's experience life in Slovenia's beautiful capital. Ljubljana is the largest city of Slovenia. Situated at the middle of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, it is the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center of independent Slovenia since 1991.
Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, is known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. On Lake Bled, a glacial lake fed by hot springs, the town of Bled contains a church-topped islet and a cliffside medieval castle. In Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, baroque facades mix with the 20th-century architecture of native Jože Plečnik, whose iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) spans the tightly curving Ljubljanica River.

Lake Bled & Ljubljana, Slovenia
We spent a weekend in Slovenia exploring the stunning city of Ljubljana and Lake Bled. This video summarises what we got up to there!
Ljubljana is charming, beautiful and surprisingly lively. It’s really affordable (perfect for budget travellers) and the people are lovely. There’s quite a bit to see and do, but we felt a weekend was long enough to do the key attractions.
Lake Bled is located 475 metres above sea level in the Julian Alps in the north-western part of Slovenia. It’s absolutely beautiful and we highly recommend hiring a row boat to get to the little island, as well as hiking up to the castle.
If you’re looking for things to do in Ljubljana and Lake Bled in Slovenia, we recommend:
Traditional Slovenian Evening (folklore show and 3-course dinner)
Pub crawl Ljubljana
Ljubljana Castle
A day trip to Lake Bled! - Hire a row boat and pack a picnic.

Parking in Ljubljana
This is a bit tricky. Old Town is pedestrian only. So you have to leave your car somewhere. If your hotel provides parking, that's an easy fix. But if it doesn't or if you're not staying overnight in Ljubljana, you'll have to find parking.
I witnessed a guy try to drive into Old Town and realize too late it wasn't permitted. He had a tough time turning around and tougher time figuring out where to park.
Barje is kindof like a neighborhood subdivision (sortof) and the Park n Ride was only about a year old when we visited last summer. The fee was only about 1 Euro and you could park til midnight. The bus was equally cheap, but I recommend walking. Even with kids, it was an easy walk (about 2 km) and there was great scenery.

Vlog#2 l Ljubljana, Slovenia l
Come, let's take a quick walk through the city of Ljubljana in this video.
Thanks to 'Trip in the bag' for their amazing fun-filled itinerary.
Timeline:
I start with Cafe Lockal and then head to the Dragon bridge, which has 4 dragons on 4 corners of the bridge.
Then, I take the funicular to the castle up in the hill where I got a beautiful view of the city.
After the castle, I was at the Butcher's bridge which was used for selling meat back in the days.
Then, I took the triple bridge to Prešeren square where stands the statue of France Prešeren.
Following that, I find myself near the townhall and Robba fountain after which take a small break for some slovenian sausage and Cviček.
After the snack, I get to Congress square with a beautiful view of the castle in the backdrop.
To finally end the trip, I meet Jan from Trip in the bag, at Pub Plečnik for local beer and a great dinner.
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip from Trip in the bag, and strongly recommend it to people visiting Slovenia. They even do trips in other locations around Slovenia.

Visit Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, and explore the places in its surroundings.
Besides having everything that all the other modern capitals have, Ljubljana succeeded in maintaining the relaxed atmosphere of a small city. This picturesque and very vibrant city is full of surprises. The region that besides Ljubljana comprises 25 other municipalities is noted for its traditional hospitality, diverse nature, nice towns, castles, quality traditional restaurants and village churches with their rich artistic legacy.
The Central Slovenia is the place where the alpine and karst landscapes meet. Thus, various unique natural and cultural particularities were created. Some of these are the Ljubljana Marshes, an area of wetlands and peat bogs known for its prehistoric pile dwellers and for its rare animal and vegetal species, the high mountain plateau Velika planina situated in the Kamnik Alps, noted for its ski centre and for being the oldest dairy herdsmen’s settlement in Europe, interesting subterranean caves, karstic fields and the mysterious forests of the Polhov Gradec and Posavje hills that abound with tourist farms.
You will definitely not be bored. The various cultural events are marked by the richness of the tradition as well as by the modern creativity. Forests, rivers and lakes offer great possibilities of an active holiday in the open air. You can choose between hiking, cycling, exploring the nature, hunting, fishing and during the winter, also between skiing and cross-country skiing. There are also some well-maintained golf courses.
Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia region are a perfect destination for relaxed and active holidays.

Ljubljana hidden corners # 6 - Špica Park (Speech: English, CC: English, Slovene, Croatian, Serbian)
Only ten minutes from the center of Ljubljana is the renovated promenade of the Ljubljanica River, which is known by the name Špica (the name is derived from the pointed land area). Špica was once a Ljubljana bath, and even today, due to the pleasant green and wooden surfaces, Špica looks like a beach where many citizens and visitors of Ljubljana catch the sun during the beautiful days.
The 38-foot-long footbridge connects the city to the green hinterland, the suburbs, and the Botanical Gardens. The footbridge is intended for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Botanical Gardens is just a 2-minute walk from Spica. The Castle vineyard is 8 minutes' walk away and old city center is 12 minutes away. Eipprova Street with restaurants and bars is a 10-minute walk away. The famous Livada Restaurant is a 13-minute walk from Špica.

I never get tired from travelling..... I just love to visit new places, to go on new adventures. I was very lucky that my friends let me use their car. I drove all the way from Udine( Italy) to Lubiana , capital city of Slovenia. It took me round about 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there. It was a beautiful drive immersed in nature. You can see that this beautiful land is surrounded by mountains and woods.
I had a chance to taste a fruity cake as also some amazing hot chocolate. I climbed up all the way to the castle, by the way... there is an amazing view.
definitely a place to visit.
