Spanish Catalan Food, AMAZING Tapas, and Antoni Gaudí Attractions in Barcelona, Spain!

Day 22 of our Round The World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, we were in Barcelona, Spain. We started off the day with an amazing Catalan food meal at Can Vilaró before doing some sightseeing, eating legendary Barcelona tapas, and finishing with some of the most famous Antoni Gaudí attractions in Barcelona.
00:32 Catalan Food at Can Vilaró Restaurant - Can Vilaró is an amazing and classic restaurant in Barcelona that specializes in local Catalan food. To begin our meal, I started with a bowl of gazpacho, a cold and refreshing tomato and vegetable soup. One of the main dishes I ordered was cap i pota, a Spanish Catalan dish of trip and other organs in kind of like a stew. Finally, seeing some roasted lamb cheeks, I decided to try a few of those as well. It was a delicious meal with friendly local service. Thanks to for this recommendation! Total price - 23.10 EUR
9:16 Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya - After stopping by the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc for a while, we then continued on up the thill to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. If you love art, you’ll enjoy this museum in Barcelona. Price - 12 EUR
12:30 Montjuïc Castle - 5 EUR per person - One of the greatest attractions in Barcelona is the Montjuïc Castle. The castle itself is not incredible, but the views of Barcelona that you get and the perspective you can get of the city is what I think really makes the attraction worth visiting.
14:42 Legendary tapas at Quimet & Quimet - After walking down from the castle, Ying and I stopped off at Quimet & Quimet, a legendary small tapas bar in Barcelona that specializes in tapas made from pickled and canned seafood and ingredients. The owner is an expert at what he does, and you can see the passion and love he has for the tapas he prepared. The best tapa I had at Quimet & Quimet was canned mussels with caviar which came topped over a piece of crispy toast. Total price - 20 EUR
19:26 Casa Milà (La Pedrera) - 20.50 EUR - Some of the most famous attractions in Barcelona are buildings and basilicas designed by Antoni Gaudí. So on this day I decided to visit two of the most famous Antoni Gaudí complexes in a row (the day before we had already visited Sagrada Familia, you can watch that here: Casa Milà was very interesting to see and walk around and learn about Antoni Gaudí.
24:06 Casa Batlló - 22.50 EUR - Next, we walked down the street to Casa Batlló, another well known building re-designed by Antoni Gaudí. It was busier than Casa Milà, but it was also very fascinating to learn about the ideas, thoughts, and designs that went into the construction.
On Day 22 we did quite a bit of sightseeing of attractions in Barcelona, and the highlight of the day for me was the first Catalan food meal at Can Vilaró Restaurant.
Disclaimer and Thank You:

3. EXPLORING A MASSIVE SPANISH SUPERMARKET! ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
I always think it's really interesting visiting supermarkets in new countries. It gives you a real insight into the local diet, and the local culture. So Yoly and I decided to dive into the massive supermarket in the outskirts of Madrid to give you guys an insight into what's there. We check out Spanish potato chips, the massive selection of jamón, lots of interesting meats (blood sausage, rabbit, pigs brains and snout and more), cheeses, more cured meats and so much more.
But beyond that, we also dove into the frozen food section to see what we could find (yes, we found frozen paella in Spain!). And we also explored the enormous olive oil section, with everything from normal olive oil, right through to extra virgin olive oil (which is pretty cheap in Spain!).

Why Spanish Iberian Ham Is The World's Most Expensive Cured Meat | Regional Eats
Iberian ham, or Jamón Ibérico, is one of the most expensive meats in the world. A leg of it can cost as much as $4,500. It is made from the rear leg of the black Iberian pig, a rare breed that can be found in the southern and western regions of the Iberian Peninsula, which comprises Spain and Portugal.

Only a long history and art are not the whole of Lyon. I could see why Lyon, gourmets around the world show that the American appetite again, Paul Bo Cuse traditional markets. BATTICALOA, SRI LANKA - After visiting Kandy and Central Sri Lanka, we drove to the East coast of Sri Lanka, and first to Batticaloa, a wonderful city surrounded by lagoons. Ruzaina arranged for us to meet up with the Sri Lanka Special Forces to cook lunch and eat in their mess hall, but it turned out to be more of an adventure than just that!
We arrived to the Special Forces base camp, and they were already cooking the meal for lunch. But also our plan for the day was to buy a fish and cook a big fish, so the Captain called his fisherman friend, and he had a special type of shark (which is commonly eaten in Sri Lanka) and said it was his favorite. So we ended up getting the shark to cook and share with the entire Special Forces unit. We ended up missing the main lunch, but we had lunch in the General's office instead with the delicious mix of local dishes and the addition of the shark curry. It was a privilege to have this opportunity.
Sri Lankan Batticaloa food - In the evening we were invited to a local home in Batticaloa to eat a typical regional Batticaloa Sri Lankan food meal. The meat blew me away with the flavors and ingredients, and it was my first time to eat mountain knotgrass, which was delicious.
Thank you to everyone who generously hosted me in Batticaloa, for the delicious food, and to Ruzaina for arranging everything. Go check out here videos:

August 2017 -
Athens is a very interesting city, full of unique charms, and fascinating history. In this video, I head out on a neighborhood evening walk to just discover what's around the area.
If you're in the area, Dio Dekares i Oka Restaurant is a great local Greek restaurant where you can enjoy a home-cooked style feast.
We first walked over to a classic old style Greek coffee shop, and I had a double Greek coffee. It was a pretty cool place, very classic. My double coffee - 2 EUR
Next we stopped off at a neighborhood convenience store and bought some gum.
Geor. Olimpiou Walking Street - This is a wonderful walking street full of restaurants and cafes. If you come here, you can eat some delicious grilled meat at this restaurant:
And that completes this Athens evening walk and neighborhood tour.
Thank you very much for watching and I'll see you on the next travel video!

Cretan Food - 100% PURE LOVE Farm-to-Table Mediterranean Cuisine in Crete!
This was incredible traditional Cretan food experience!
Watch all my Greek Food videos here►
Subscribe►
The top reason I wanted to visit Crete, the biggest island of Greece, was to experience the food. Cretan food is known for its incredible Mediterranean based food diet. Even though it’s an island surrounded by the sea, Crete is such a huge island that it’s actually more well known for lamb and meat rather than seafood.
One day while my wife and I were in Chania, Crete, we drove over to a countryside restaurant in the mountains called Ντουνιάς (I’m not sure of the English name). Immediately as we arrived, and met the incredibly passionate owner, and watched him cooking traditional Crete food in clay pots over fire, I knew it was going to be an incredible food experience.
Before eating, I took a quick walk around the farm, to see all the produce and animals they had on their property. The owner was quick to mention to met that it wasn’t just a restaurant, but a farm. Everything he cooked was from his farm on his land - the meat, the vegetables, the fruit, the seasonings, even the wine. Everything was local and seasonal.
After walking around, I just asked the owner to serve me a few of his favorite dishes of the day. We enjoyed some incredible house wine, bread, and then mountain goat. Everything was purely delicious, seasoned with wine and rosemary, and full of natural Mediterranean heb flavors. We were also served a few more Cretan dishes, all of which were stunningly good.
My only complaint was that we didn’t plan to stay long enough. We had to eat, and then head back to Chania town because I had something else planned that day as well. It’s the type of restaurant you could go and hang out for the entire day.
Ντουνιάς - An amazing authentic Crete food restaurant where everything is cooked in the traditional way by pure love.
Total price - 34.90 EUR for everything

Unbelievable Mexican Food - FIRE GRILLED MEAT + Cenote and Chichen Itza in Yucatán, Mexico!

We started off in the morning in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and the plan was to drive all the way to Merida, the capital of Yucatan state. But on the way, we’d stop off to eat some amazing Mexican food, and also visit some attractions in Yucatan like a cenote and Chichen Itza. It turned out to be one of the most amazing days of my Mexico trip - here’s everything we did and ate.
Tacos De Cecina Estilo Yecaixtla - Before leaving Playa Del Carmen, we desperately needed some taco nourishment, and so we stopped at Tacos De Cecina Estilo Yecaixtla, a street food stall that’s known for their beef tacos. I tried a few of their tacos, all of which were outstanding, and overflowing with meat!
Price - 74 MXN ($3.97) for my plate
Cenote X'canché - We drove towards Valladolid, and not too far from there is a cenote known as Cenote X'canché. The hard thing about Yucatan and visiting a cenote is that there are so many to choose from, but since we had a car, I wanted to go to one that was a little more off the beaten path and quiet. It proved to be an amazing experience, so quiet and peaceful.
Entrance - 50 MXN ($2.69), Bicycle ride - 100 MXN ($5.37) per person
La Tía de Kaua - There’s a Mexican food Yucatan dish known as poc chuc, that’s one of the ultimate dishes from the region - usually made of pork marinated and grilled or cooked over a hot fire griddle. In the sleepy town of Kaua, we stopped at La Tía de Kaua for some incredible poc chuc and freshly ground habanero tomato salsa. It was such an insanely delicious meal.
Total price - 300 MXN ($16.11) for 4 adults
Chichén Itzá - Finally, to wrap of the day of Mexican food and attractions in Yucatan, we drove to Chichen Itza. It’s one of the most visited attractions in Mexico and it’s an amazing sight to see. We arrived in the late afternoon, and luckily it wasn’t too busy.
Entrance price - 242 MXN ($13) per person
Mérida - Finally we arrived to Merida at night. Stay tuned for the next Merida street food tour!

Xochimilco - STREET FOOD TOUR and BOAT RIDE on Canals of Mexico City!

►Mexico City street food guide:
Xochimilco is one of the most interesting cultural areas to visit when you’re in Mexico City. It was formerly a series of pre-Hispanic villages along Lake Xochimilco. Eventually Mexico City expanded and grew all the way to Xochimilco, and now it’s one of the boroughs of the city.
What’s most remarkable about Xochimilco, and the reason most people go to visit is because of the extensive network of canals that form the framework of the area. Nowadays, you can rent the brightly colored boats and take a ride, eating and drinking along the way. I was there on a weekend evening, and it was a bit more rowdy and loud than I had wanted it to be, but it was still very fun. If you go during the daytime, you might have a more peaceful relaxing journey at Xochimilco.
Here’s what Lalo ( and I did on our short visit:
Mercado de Xochimilco - This is the main market of Xochimilco, and one of the best places to get started eating traditional Mexican food when you visit Xochimilco. At the entrance of the market you’ll find rows of vendors selling home-cooked foods. Don’t miss them, they are incredible delicious. Along with rare types of tlayudas, the highlight for me was the chicken tostada which blew me away.
Here’s the list of everything we ate, but really you can just walk around, see what looks good, and try it:
Tlacoyo - 12 MXN ($0.65) each
Tostada - 15 MXN ($0.81) each
Taco - 5 MXN ($0.27) each
Jamaica - 10 MXN ($0.54)
Carnitas - 20 MXN ($1.08) each
After eating, we walked over to the boat pier. And unfortunately we were running a little late on time and it was a race against time and daylight, but we made it to the pier. Lalo talked to the boat crews, and we finally arranged a boat. The cost was a little higher than what it would normally be for locals, but unfortunately, that’s what it came down to.
Boat hire - 850 MXN ($45.91)
Hope you enjoyed this tour of Xochimilco. The colorful boats are impressive to see, and it’s hard to believe you’re in Mexico City when you’re both at the relaxed Xochimilco Market, and gliding along the canals.
Thanks again to Lalo for coming along. Check out his channel here:

Binondo, which is Chinatown in Manila, Philippines, is one of the best places to eat when you’re in Manila. You’ll find a good range of Chinese Filipino food, and overall, I was pleasantly surprised how friendly, clean, and nice it was. Binondo is also known to be the world’s oldest Chinatowns, and it really has some old style charm to it, and some delicious food to eat.
On this particular Manila Chinatown food tour, my wife Ying and I set off in the morning to just walk around and eat what we saw. I had done some research and wrote down some places to eat, but we were just going to go ourselves and get a feel for walking around and see if we could find any other food. About halfway through the day, we were filming, and we randomly bumped in Nathan who watches our videos. He not only is from Manila, but he’s also from Manila Chinatown, and he brought us around for the rest of this food tour - so big thank you to Nathan and his fiance!
Here are the place we ate on this Chinese Filipino food tour of Manila Chinatown (Binondo):
Dong Bei Dumplings - This restaurant is legendary in Chinatown Manila for their pork and chive dumplings - 150 PHP ($3.01). The dumplings seemed a little on the expensive side, but they were pretty awesomely delicious. It was a great way to start this Binondo food tour.
Estero Fast Food - Next, we stopped at a restaurant called Estero fast food, serving all sorts of Chinese Filipino street food. We ordered buttered chicken, fried frog legs, stuffed squid, and finally mixed vegetables. The food was all OK, nothing really stand out to me, and wasn’t a huge fan of the buttered chicken. Total price - 650 PHP ($13.05)
Ho-Land Hopia and Bakery - This is a legendary bakery in Manila’s Binondo, and they are especially known for their original mung bean pastry hopia. Hopia original - 48 PHP ($0.96)
New Po Heng Lumpia House - After meeting up with Nathan and his fiance, we headed first to go eat some lumpia. The lumpia was excellent, among the best fresh Chinese lumpia I’ve ever had. Lumpia - 60 PHP ($1.20)
Siopao - Nathan knew of this hole in the wall spot, and their siopao were delicious, so fluffy and packed with flavor. Price - 20 PHP ($0.40)
Serry Restaurant - Eating at Serry Restaurant in Binondo was the highlight of this Manila Chinatown food tour for me. We first had Soup Number Five (Soup #5), a notorious bull penis soup, and it was actually incredibly delicious. I loved it. Also, the black chicken soup was incredibly good, very herbal and very clean tasting. Total price - 280 PHP ($5.62)
899 Restaurant - Finally, to end this Chinatown tour, Nathan took us to one of his favorite restaurants in Binondo called 899, especially to eat pig intestines and braised tongue. The tongue was absolutely sensational, while both the big and small intestines were also delicious. Total price - 650 PHP ($13.05)
When you’re in Manila, walking around Binondo, Manila’s Chinatown, is one of the best things to do. You’ll find some great food, and it’s just a fun place to walk around and explore on foot. Thank you to Nathan for his help in this video!

Sex for sale in Spain | DW Documentary
A village in northern Spain has become a hive of prostitution. La Jonquera, close to the French border, has become home to a large number of brothels.
Sex workers also line the streets and locals are worried about both their safety and their reputation. It is a problem for the whole country, says Sònia Martínez Juli, mayor of La Jonquera: The first thing people see when they arrive in Spain are prostitutes. The owner of what he says is the biggest sex club in Europe, Paradise, predictably defends his business. The Spaniard Dani Farled, meanwhile, the son of a sex worker, is more critical of the industry. His mother worked for years as a prostitute in La Jonquera; his father was her pimp. Today, he remains in the milieu, where he works as a tattoo artist. In the film, French sex tourists, who account for ninety percent of the market here, explain their motives and a Romanian street prostitute explains why Spain is an attractive place for her to work. A recent study by the Madrid University Comillas found that Spain was well on its way to becoming Europe’s leading nation when it comes to the sex industry: It already has more prostitutes than any other European nation.
