Ueno Park | Taito, Tokyo Japan
Ueno Park (上野公園 Ueno Kōen) is a spacious public park in the Ueno district of Taitō, Tokyo, Japan. The park was established in 1873 on lands formerly belonging to the temple of Kan'ei-ji. Amongst the country's first public parks, it was founded following the western example as part of the borrowing and assimilation of international practices that characterizes the early Meiji period. The home of a number of major museums, Ueno Park is also celebrated in spring for its cherry blossoms and hanami. In recent times the park and its attractions have drawn over ten million visitors a year, making it Japan's most popular city park.

There were not so many people and almost all the shops there were closed but they were so many lights.
It was like a beautiful painting.
It was so nice to take a walk there.

Geisha vs Oiran: What's the Difference? ★ ONLY in JAPAN #30 花魁と芸者の違い
If you're looking for Japanese culture, Asakusa in Tokyo is the top spot. On this day, John visits the Yoshiwara for the Oiran Dochu, a parade re-enacted annually to preserve the old traditions of the neighborhood. The event is attracting more visitors and it's time to explain exactly what you're seeing!
Geisha vs Oiran: What's the difference?
I ask Grigoris Miliaresis, a journalist living and studying Asakusa and historical Japanese culture.
The faces may be white, but the wig, hair ornaments, kimono, colors, even feet are totally different!
How much was a night with an oiran?
According to Grigoris, it cost 1 year's salary for a normal worker!
The Orian were not your usual prostitutes in the western sense.
* Oiran choose their clients
* Oiran met 3 times with a new client before anything “romantic” occurred.
* The were as talented as geisha in the arts and, because they had extravagant dress and style, Oiran were like the movie stars, the pin up girls for men.
Does this make them better than geisha?
Perhaps.
The Oiran Dochu is held on the first Saturday in April every year.

Sensoji Temple (浅草寺） in Asakusa, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan
坂東観音巡礼 第１３番 浅草観音 浅草寺
Sensoji Temple is a beautiful city temple in the Asakusa district of Taito ward in Tokyo. Asakusa is a district that is known for it's ancient heritage and the beautiful Sensoji temple. The magnificent new landmark of Tokyo, Tokyo Sky Tree is close by across the Sumida river.
Sensoji temple is the most visited temple in the entire Kanto region. The temple is not only beautiful but also close to the center of the Tokyo city and easily accessible.
Many of the buildings in the premises like the Hondo and the gates have been restored and rebuilt many times. There is a five storied pagoda in the premises and it has been recently rebuilt in the 1970s, as the original pagoda that was built in the ninth century has been burned down and other rebuilds have been destroyed during World War II.
Sensoji Temple is number thirteenth in the Bando (33 Kannon Temples of Kanto region) pilgrimage circuit.
All and all this is a beautiful temple, hope you get a chance to visit it, during your trips to Japan.

After all day in the cold Hokkaido weather hunting for great photos of the world famous TANCHO dancing JAPANESE Red-crowned CRANE it is a true blessing to come back to my warm cute room and super delicious dining and soothing HOT SPRING of HOTEL TAITO that is also luckily located just 10 minutes on foot from the BEST place to photograph the Cranes, TSURUI ITO TANCHO SANCTUARY!!! And the hotel owner Mr. Wada is himself a famous photographer of these birds and entire fauna of this area, he can help you understand how to photograph them and is even hired by TV stations and teams coming to Kushiro for an amazing experience! Just beware the hotel sells out sometimes even a year in advance, so book it early!

☆Bits of knowledge〜Ningyo-yaki〜
Ningyo-yaki （人形焼） is very popular in Tokyo Asakusa where you can watch them being baked. This is one of my favorite Japanese sweets and a very good omiyage gift.
Ningyo is the Japanese word for doll, so the name of this sweet reads baked dolls. Ningo-yaki are small cakes baked in special molds. Some of them are just sweet cake batter, others are filled with sweet anko bean paste. Ningyo-yaki without filling are sometimes called Castella-yaki, like the Japanese style sponge cake Castella （カステラ）.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Tokyo Bunka Kaikan〜
Tokyo Bunka Kaikan is one of the oldest concert halls for classical music in Japan. It opened in April 1961 in response to a desire by the public for a venue to enjoy opera and ballet in Japan. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government constructed it as part of its 500th anniversary celebration. Since then, it's been sometimes dubbed the 'Music Palace'. However, I would like to call it a 'Ballet Palace' as well, for many major ballet concerts have been held for decades here at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.
Unfortunately, there are no concert halls in Japan as historical and magnificent as theaters like The Palais Garnier, The Teatro alla Scala, The Bolshoi Theatre and The Mariinsky Theatre are. The only ones in which we can see traditional performing arts and be proud of would probably be the Kabuki-za in Ginza or Minami-za in Kyoto. Yet considering the fact that 'Western' culture such as classical music and ballet have been imported to Japan without restrictions only after the Second World War, you can understand why we don't have many 'historical' concert halls in Japan.
